If you're looking for a general answer, I'd say that triggering the complete "ending sequence" in the form of what was intended by the game designers to be the ending sequence should constitute "ending the game". Even that is open to debate, as there's no Shigeru Miyamoto telling us what is the ending of the game. But I'm going to go with most everyone else and recommend analysing each game separately.

http://www.destructoid.com/master-super-mario-bros-glitches-through-animated-gifs-189206.phtml#comment "You're from the internet, so you must love animated GIFs. Here's some that will do you a bit more good than those Maury Povich loops you spread around. TASVideos has taken some ROM dumpage and made treasure with this series of instructional animated GIFs for the Super Mario Bros series of games. It starts off with the original SMB1 wall jump and builds into advanced sh*t like going through bricks, vine teleport glitching and even walking inside of enemies. I want you inside me, Mario! There's a pretty good list going, but judging from their to-do list, they're going to add a lot more. Nice work so far, good sirs. You can check out all the GIFs here at TASVideos. No Hotlinking! I'm kidding about the hotlinking."

Well, this sure is a huge bump, but what's to be expected, after the HD encode popped up, reminding the world of such an entertaining TAS? Marco, almost every one who watched it loved it, but are puzzled. According to what's been written previously, there was just trouble with the translations. I don't mind translating all the details, if you still remember them. I'm pretty sure everyone wants to know how several things happened.
All of his explanations are on the TAS community in orkut, I can get them if you want and e-mail it to you. Just drop me a PM.

I was mistaken, she really is always facing the camera. You can clearly see this in 0:24 in the video when the camera switches from behind her and she is facing the same way. But this transparent screen she's being projected on is REALLY transparent!? I don't see it at all. At the beginning of the video there's a light circle around her, perhaps that's the spotlights hitting the screen? Ok, watching more closely, there are indications that the screen is a flat, very tall, rectangular piece of glass about 3 or 4 meters wide. You can see two vertical lines at the same 0:24 mark and other parts of the video with close ups indicating the glasse's outline. Wait a second... 3D projection, glasses and mirror illusion. Time Traveller from SEGA anyone? I read somewhere that SEGA owns a good part of the rights for Hatsune, as well as being involved in her animation for the shows. Maybe it's related. last edit: oh my, the screen isn't that tall at all, it can be seen in all its glory at 2:41 Thanks for clearing this up ^^ I guess the effect is better when viewing the show through a 2d screen than when viewing it live. Of course this statement is unrelated with the context of it being a show.

This thing could be used to really scare the shit out of someone... Imagine a very dark place someone is walking by and then WHAM a ghostly figure in real form appears. Depending on the person there could be death by heart attack.

That wasn't 3D, it was projected on a flat screen. Which breaks the whole virtual idol thing.

I think it's not an actual 3D holograph, since there's some reflective wall thingy in the background. Kinda cool though, I think.
I think it is an actual 3D holograph. Notice how the character is facing the directions accordingly when there are different camera angles.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTXO7KGHtjI&feature=player_embedded Watch in 1080p Well that certainly wasn't expected yet! A rather realistic looking 3D holographic rendition of an anime girl performing on stage in front of a freaking out huge crowd. I'm amazed at the technical quality of it. The character design could be more appealing (there are videos showing that it doesn't need to be monochromatic, for example), but still, I'd definitely want to see that live. Well, I would like more details on this technology, it is really interesting! One thing I noticed is that when there's something well lit behind her you can see through her, so that's one thing, and they say something about the need for mirrors, but I wanna know how to make something technically similar!

There were 3 reasons why I didn't improve the Pit Fighter TAS: 1 - I couldn't reproduce the glitch 2 - It would look more mechanical 3 - I wanted to do 2 players So I don't remember the circunstances, but somehow on IRC I showed the trick to adelikat and he got interested. It took quite a while huh! Years!! I'm glad you made the video, only a bit disappointed that it isn't 2 players. I'm also impressed how much time was saved on an already short TAS. Some of the strategies leave you wondering if it could be any faster, which could sparkle interest on the game. I'm not sure what to vote, because it does look very mechanical, but it's such a huge improvement.

Very interesting, it does feel like it is intentional as a way to make the game easier for those having trouble, but it could be a fortunate coincidental bug.

Why can't people make hacks that could have been a real release? The inclusion of the actual characters from the series was cool, but zelda and the robot turned me off, especially when the graphical quality didn't match that of the normal enemies. Also, I'm siding with twisted eye here, the video had me skipping through just to see what characters were included, since they didn't attack at all. Every fight was predictable, little mac would punch punch punch get stars and finish the opponent. As a demo for the hack I rate it 5 out of 10, as an entertaining TAS I rate it 3 out of 10, which in my book results in a no vote. It looks well made though, but I don't believe that's enough for publication. Having it on youtube is good enough.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPJ5Ip2y8Nk&feature=player_embedded Or at least, I believe it is. This seems to be some challenge mode in the 25th anniversary edition game of Mario or perhaps it's just a commercial, since the wii game is a rerelease of the super mario all stars game, but still, nintendo is looking at speedruns.

If this is the domino pushing puzzle, then you might want to check out the SNES version. It most likely has better quality everything.

I laughed my head off at how horrible this one is. From the stretched out Google logo to the Sponsorship by Microsoft.
The basic scheme of the scam is always about some kind of inheritance or large bank account which has somehow lost its owner and needs to be transferred overseas so that the government or whoever doesn't impound it (or a myriad of variations to this basic scheme), and the sum is always in the tens or hundreds of millions of dollars, from which the victim is promised something like 10% or 20% if he helps in this transfer, in other words, the victim is promised sums like $1900000 (ONE MILLION NINE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS). The victims who get fooled by this invariably get greedy by such a large amount of money. In this case, however, I think the scammers made a slight blunder with the amount of money. Why would google award over a million dollars to a random user? That's a suspiciously large sum, and would be quite unprecedent. This might raise the suspicion of even the most naive people. A sum like 10 thousand dollars might have worked a lot better, as it's a much more believable sum for such an award.
I think you're overestimating these scammers. They don't need to be smart, there are enough naive people in the world.

Yes, people say that with the wisest face possible "Hey!!! I know a way to own every game released for the SNES!". This, said in 2010, has two mistakes: - it is not news that it can be illegaly done (not to mention that they probably didn't know the SNES had more than 50 games before looking at the list) - copying files from someone's pc to yours through p2p doesn't qualify as a subject for conversation

I'd settle for anything inperfect other than nothing. Oh wait, no TAS is perfect.
