Maybe your turtle hit the goombas that were coming right after. You can get a lot more than just 300 by following that turtle shell so it hits all those goombas. edit: oh ok, the coin. I think the bricks breaking is a problem, maybe one shouldn't waste more than 10 seconds total on the level breaking bricks. That way you can only waste time breaking bricks if it's in order to buy time for the timer ending in "6". You can't waste time solely breaking bricks if that means not getting the next 6. Skipping the 6 should be allowed to get important bonuses, but not breaking bricks. Someone try to rephrase this so it becomes understandable!

Again, not gonna remake anything!! it's the new policy :) It's 20 minutes faster than Dragorn's speedrun, which makes me wonder... the TAS has to be a sub 1:49 at least..

So score limit shouldn't be a problem, with let's say 40,000 on every stage that's close to 1,280,000 points, way below the 10,000,000 mark. Personally I don't like the all stars version, i prefer the original. But i think it's up to whoever making the movie (if anyone) to decide which version to use.

I'd like to see a run on this concept, as in something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7f2jzzfMDjs objective: - Make the highest score possible on each stage problems: - It needs to avoid consecutive hitting of the same koopashell against a wall because that'd be just boring... - 999,999 points would come real fast, what happens then? it stays in 999,999 or it loops to 000,000 or show some hex score?

I should have watched this film a long time ago... Downloading now. The few scenes i've seen from the movie, i liked. The moment the robot turns against the man is a very slow paced scene, and still it was enoyable to me because i put myself on that man's shoes. It reminds me of the blair witch movie, many people didn't like it, but i loved it, because i get so much into the movie, and i know that was the key point to enjoying it. That situation gave me the creeps.

I've found a little program that changes the background everytime i turn on the pc, which is good enough. http://www.ljnelson.com/work/apps/mixpix.htm edit: it didn't work under win xp so i've uninstalled it.

I use a 100% black background too, because i get tired of the images too quickly. What's KDE? changing the background every 10 minutes should work for me.

Like Bisqwit said, the possibility to publish a movie for every game has been discussed before. I'm a fan of that option, but i also agree that it doesn't suit the current format (of having only entertaining runs). Maybe one solution would be to publish the movie but don't make an avi for it. Rating would take care of labeling it as boring, instead of a single person's judgement.

135 The hardest question for me was unscrambling GRMANREY or whatever and finding out if it was a country city state animal or what. I've answered country. i have done this test 3 years ago and got 127 then.

No, the wips are the real thing. The testrun was made in december, i think, it's way back in the pages of this thread.

how many weeks do you think it took him to make the speedrun? the testrun uses 6500 re-records.

I'm downloading and will watch later on. This guy is really insane for even trying some of the hardest tricks in the TAS, like the vanish in the cap course star. Many congratulations to him. The projected time for the TAS should be sub 1:50

My birthday is close to "kid's day" (12th october, in brazil). Maybe that's why i always had the cool videogames (odyssey 2, atari, nes, mega drive, snes), because it was a big gift instead of 2 normal ones.

Man, i didn't realize a TAS of this game would be so long, well, here's a WIP that plays a little more than half of the main levels: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/2077/rythm%20tengoku%20-%20FODA%20-%20v1.vbm

I used gens 9f, set the controllers like ouzo suggested, and it played perfectly.

This is the first time i watch a lost vikings TAS, and it was fun! The time i shouted the biggest WOW was when erik handed an item to olaf on the first toyland level.. that was unexpected.
