I made a sloppy test run of this and it finishes the movie at 21:57... some warps are usefull, but others aren't. also the pizza contest was perfectly manipulatable, except for the last boss. That guy didn't want to go down in just 2 turns, had to do it in 3. i noticed 2 bugs: - horizontal moving plataforms can push you inside walls - you can keep dashing speed even after powerup is over if you just keep jumping as soon as touching the ground.

Wow. You never cease to amaze me, nitsuja. I'm really glad someone made this run, and no damage! yay for no more damage noise. I would have never had the energy to try something like this. Recording this game was extremely stressing to me. If it wasn't to you, wow you're good. If it was stressing, wow... you have a lot of patience. These movements looked very optimal. I don't think there will be someone crazy enough to try and beat this. Of course, nice tricks there. The machine level was also cool. My vote is yes, of course.

well it is, if you subtract the header. or something. that's what i meant. you can easily get the frame number from any frame position in the movie format we have now, just by checking the byte position and doing the right calculation. right?

hmmm your movie had only 573 re-records and was made in famtasia, i'm sure it's improveable by a big margin. it's a starting point though. but i still believe this would be best made in a pacifist run.

Ok, making it short, you want to store, for each frame, a 2 bytes long frame number? that is uncessessary because the movie already stores that info. It's the position each 4-byte is. That is the frame number.

the pizza eating contests are the bosses of each level. he who eats the most wins. each turn you play an amount of pizza and the difference is what you (or the enemy, if he put more pizza than you) will eat. I did it without killing enemies because otherwise the game is too easy and boring to watch. This is the only way i found to make it impressive. Of course it's slower, but it's called pacifist run. - finishes as fast as possible without killing a single enemy. Boco, haven't heard about that, i'll take a look.

1 - it's faster 2 - we don't need a long movie of this game. we only need 1 movie, that is as fast as possible whatever it takes. 3 - it's more varied than doing just pizza contests over and over. watch my movie file

There have been attempts before, even a rejected submission (which you can search for). I also made the first level of it but stopped because i didn't think it was interesting.

Besides the obvious "many objects on screen" rule to the lag, i've also noticed that it also increases the calculation when mario or flying turtles land on the ground. Sometimes that causes lag if the screen is too full. It's better to land on a different time than the turtle than landing on the same or near same frames. At least that's what it looked like in 1-1...

it isn't i agree with nitsuja, you should accept more than 1 suggestion from each person, for the same reason he pointed out.

I'll just point out that there's a game called "Elevator Action: Old & New" for the GBA. If you select "Old" it's just this same game as this, but if you select "New" it's a game with the same basic components as this (lots of illegally unsafe elevators and doors to steal things from), but tweaked to be a lot more action-packed and less repetive (with a decent number of unique levels and a definite ending). I think it would make a much more interesting run than this. BTW, I thought you did have to enter the red doors in this game, or it didn't really end the level or didn't count as beating the level.
The "new" one doesn't seem to have anything to do with the game "elevator actions returns", for the arcade, so i say it's a good option.

I think it should let players exploit all glitches, otherwise all runs would look like too much. One of the interesting aspects of this is to see how many different tricks the teams will come up with.

lmao ruining cartridges can't mean "good story". so i'll tell how i lost some games here they are very sad stories! yea they all involve lending too... When we had atari we would trade games a lot (just borrowed, but it was a rule to borrow that it would need to be in trade fashion, and a trade of same weight). well, there was this guy in school, much much older than me that showed this atari cartridge it was the circuit thing only, no plastic case. And he told me it had 10 games in it. He pointed at the connectors and counted 10. See? 10 games! so i wanted to trade with him i lend him 10 of my cartridges. Ok i never say my cartridges again and was stuck with a missile command single game cart... ¬¬ Another story i trade my NES with many many games with a friend who had a brand new mega drive with sonic, castle of illusion, strider and alex kidd. That was a fair trade :) i played the thing to exaustion then we would give our things back. But he didn't want to give me back my battletoads. He was being childish and started to run with my battletoads in his hands and i chased him then he fell to the ground and used my cartridge to protect his hands. It was messy and did some damage :S he realized what he did and gave it back to me. Luckly it still works as of today! Now with a playstation CD... I had this cd bag/case thing which i could put 10 cds in. So i had it with like 20 cds in and it was closed. Pretty stuffed. I was at a friend's house and the case was in the bed. He accidentaly sat on it... My ff8 last cd got a fissure in the middle of it... I'm glad it was pirated.
