What's Aktan's method?
Using .kkapture instead of mupens internal capture: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10779 It might work better, I think you tried encoding your last TAS with this method.
Edit: Above statement is wrong, this provides no help for DLTK simply because 007 mode works diffrently than 00A(besides the guard settings). If you start up surface on 00A and just wait, no guards will come, ever. But on 007 they will appear. So on 007 their spawning works diffrently for some reason.
I've always thought it's because in DLTK we set their reaction speed to 100%. Seems like you're doing a good job figuring out how the guards work.

Unless someone here is seriously claiming that quantum randomness is deterministic (and hence predictable).
It could be that things at quantum level are as deterministic as macroscopic objects like planets, but because our tools at present aren't efficient enough, they appear to be random. If we have better microscopes (or something) some day and can film things at a few septillion FPS, we might see order there.

'Natural laws' don't exist, only will exists, which can express itself more or less freely depending on how advanced the body it inhabits is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animism Things like rocks are one of the least free things in the world, so they pretty much always do the same thing, so materialists say that they are controlled by laws, unlike other creatures who are controlled by will. Humans are somewhat free. Gods are even more free to do what they want.
Typical arguments in favor of free will appeal to the inconvenience that would follow if it did not exist: "If there is no free will, people cannot be held responsible for their actions, and all punishment will be unjust!"
Even if people have no free will, punishment would still work the same way it does. It would still teach people to not do things that are "wrong". There are of course better ways to teach people than punishing them. Believing in free will can sometimes be a bad thing, because it can justify punishment, prisons and murder. Nobody is responsible for the things they do because nobody ultimately chooses to exist. Even though we have free will to some degree, we are also shaped by our environment and experiences. Both free will and determinism have positive and negative sides, so in some cases we should believe in determinism, like in the "justice system", which is sometimes the injustice system because criminals are often assumed to do crimes out of mere free will, so they are punished instead of trying to understand them, so that we could prevent bad things from happening in the future again and again.

Runway 0:32: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1pQvqZsmLY I managed to make the endscreen right this time.

Even with Aktan's capture method?
Does anyone here have experience with RNG's and have any idea how to find it?
What specifically are you trying to find?

Cool, it's amazing you can still improve these times. You still can't make a vid btw? If you want, I can make one when I have time, but perhaps someone else like Weatherton or Aktan wants to try to make a better one? I can't encode in 1080p either for some reason.

Let's say I want to put something new right in the middle of a TAS; shouldn't I be able to just copy the code from where I want to edit until the end, TAS what I want and then paste the code I copied right after it?
I guess so. You can try with the TAS movie editor: http://sourceforge.net/projects/tas-editor/ I've tried to edit N64 movies with it, but didn't succeed, probably because the games I tried to edit had variable framerate, like this SFR TAS: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10303

You seemingly have some reading comprehension problems. How do you jump from "very little scientific progress has come from any islamic countries" to "no scientific progress..."?
Or maybe I have writing problems, because I missed a word: it should have said "hardly no scientific progress". Anyway, thanks for clarifying.
However, at some point islamic religious leaders decided that science, especially math and astronomy, are the work of the devil
Perhaps at the same point that scientists discovered that the earth is not the center of the solar system. That's when Christians also started to say that astronomy is from the devil. That was the beginning of the dark ages and the separation of science and religion.

Well, it's not an impossibility. But what about my other comment? You said that no scientific progress had come from Islamic countries, and I proved you 100% wrong. No comment on that? You just thought: "oh crap, nfq proved me 100% wrong, I don't know what to say, I'll just respond to this other crazy comment he made."

The real reason is that it's a consequence of the islamic culture. This culture shuns scientific education and progress (in favor of religious education). Not in every islamic country in the same amount, of course, but enough so that very little scientific progress has come from any islamic countries. (Compare to the amount of scientific discoveries and inventions that have come from Israel.
I know that at least in the past, a lot of scientific discoveries have come from Islamic countries: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_Golden_Age http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ibn_al-Haytham http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Science_in_medieval_Islam It could be because the Quran encourages muslims to try to understand the world and do science. From what I've heard in the news, some muslims today seem to be a lot different though; barbaric and ignorant. It might be true, but it could also be that our rulers are preparing for a WW3, so they're trying to feed us propaganda so that the whole world would hate muslims, like the world hated jews before WW2 because they were fed with propaganda.

lol, awesome. There's a lot of warps on Facility, so it might be the cinema is useful there. Here's the vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHCcKoxgyhg It fits much better on youtube now. Sorry about the weird end screen though, avidemux sucks for editing videos, I would need Adobe Premiere. the-elite is down so I'll post it tomorrow or so, or you can post it too of course.
I still haven't seen an encode example of the stretching in action which is required to use 16:9.
I've done a few test encodes with that, it works great, but you need like two screens to be able to see it properly :P without black borders on top and bottom. I'll do a DLTK run or something with that aspect ratio if I have time.

Before I forget, nfq, your cinema + 16:9 image is not quite stretched proportionally to the others (it should be slightly wider).
Yeah, that was a pretty sloppy comparison. I didn't even use antialiasing. I think it should be 168 pixels wider.
With regard to video editing. Honestly, it's not a giant effort... I may do an example (it helps that I have Adobe Premiere).
That would be cool. Remember to use the clock/pause once.

Quite a lot, 24000 rerecords for Dam.

It's not as easy as you make it sound. I see problems with the fact that the ROM itself adds the black borders top and bottom. It would probably require multiple captures in order to not lose in quality.
I also wonder if such a heavily edited video would be acceptable as an official TASvideos encode? Things like the end screen are no problem to cut and paste into wide screen format, but when the clock is chosen, it can look strange when it jumps back and forth with the aspect ratios, because the change is gradual instead of instant. I haven't tried it though, so it might not be as hard as I think. But it would of course be even more awesome than just cinema. With only cinema, the cutting and pasting of 4:3 parts into wide screen isn't as hard because the cinema parts don't have to be stretched, like in 16:9.

hmm, are you sure? at least in sweden the license is called "Radio and TV licens", so it includes radio too. it's wrong that people who don't even watch their TV (just use it for gaming) have to pay TV license.

And even dates (what's something like "2.3.2011" supposed to mean?)
second day, third month, year 2011. i think dates like 050711 are more confusing, they should be written 05 Jul 2011, so that you know for sure which number is the day, month and year.

mario 64 is starting to get as maxed as mario bros for NES. only 6.5 seconds left to improve and it will be equally maxed.

Yeah, but it could be made normal by stretching it in a video editor. An interesting discovery, I have to check to see how much more you can see, but it's better to just use cinema for a serious TAS. The better warp might explain a little your improvement on Dam. It sounds logical that the lower framerate can make more insane warps.

Yeah, the next levels will look better/larger. I didn't cut borders for Dam because there's a gradual aspect ratio change in the middle of the level, so it might look strange if the screen suddenly enlarges. Might be hard to edit so that it looks nice.

Wow, you're really going to make a new 00A TAS? I thought the previous one was maxed already. Well, here's a video of the 1:46 Dam: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TqVQdj67fGU

Nice, that's a really good time without using lookdown. I wonder what that would have been if you had used it? But it's a lot easier for non-the-elite people to follow. What's up with using cinema view? That's an interesting idea though, because you see a lot more of the environment (left and right), especially since on emulator you can encode on high resolution. I often thought of using that too for some individual level runs. I'll try to make a youtube encode tomorrow. I'll have to use Aktan's encoding method though, which is a pain. I could crop a few pixels from left and right, but the resolution will be strange, so it might cause problems with playback or uploading.

Does someone have a save file which has the Rambi arena unlocked? Could be fun to make a TAS of some of the mini-games.

If you look at his channel, he has other TASes, like this Biohazard 4 (Resident Evil 4) TAS where he specifically writes that he used pcsx2-rr, so he probably used that in GTA3 too. I also thought hourglass could only run simple games...

I couldn't get this game to sync a while back when i tried to TAS it. I wonder how he did it. The reason for some of the unoptimized parts might be if it has a lot of desyncs, which makes it hard to TAS (he also waited all movies... probably intentionally, but i think they can be skipped, which would make it much faster). I've seen several other japanese PS2 tases on youtube too, so maybe we should have a subforum for PS2 games soon, if it's possible to make TASes for PS2. Or do japanese people have some magical powers that prevent desyncs..
