voted no because it's not optimal. at the beginning you wrote SL instead of A or something like that, which lost you 3 frames.
just kidding, i voted yes.

Another good thing about laptops is that they get less dust on them, because you can fold it together. So if you worry about overheating, you might want to get a laptop. Desktop computers have a lot of large holes in them, which suck dust in them, and it overheats the components, and you can't suck the dust with your vacuum cleaner or you'll destroy your computer. In laptops, the holes are so small so the dust can't get in so easily.
And if you like upgrading your computer, you might also want to get a laptop, because they're easier to upgrade. You just have to open a small hatch under the computer to put in some more RAM, kinda like switching a new SD card into your camera. But on a desktop computer, when you're upgrading RAM, you'll risk destroying expensive parts, like your GTX 690, because of static electricity. That's another reason desktop computers can get expensive. That's 1000$ lost in a few seconds. If you would lose 1000$ in every minute, that would already be 60000$ in an hour.

Laptops are cheaper than desktop computers. The cheapest 15" laptops cost about 3000 kr in Sweden, while desktop computers that suck maybe even more than the 15" laptop costs more than 3000 kr, plus you have to count the fact that the laptop has everything built in it, like the screen and speakers, so the cheapest desktop actually costs 4500 kr.

The only reason is portability. It doesn't seem like a particularly fat laptop, I've seen fatter.
But hertz is everything. So it has to be 120hz, otherwise I get eyestrain when my mouse cursor and windows don't move smoothly as butter on a hot frying pan.

He's using frame advance. It's useful when trying to do perfection. The OoT speedruns are getting so maxed that they have to use frame advance, like we do in emulators.
But I was wondering here: since it's possible to warp to Ganon's tower, shouldn't there also be some place in the game where you would be able to warp to the last Ganon fight instantly, or the ending sequence, making the run even faster?
lol, I always knew there was something wrong with his run, because his name was TSA, which was a freudian slip and an anagram for TAS. I've studied psychology for years so I know it's not a coincidence that he chose a name so similar to TAS. He was using a bit of tool-assitance in the run because he was using segments, which is kinda like using save states, but he tried to deny it by calling it single-segment.

Would be interesting to know what levels each of the authors did in the TAS.
I noticed the textures are a bit weird in the youtube encode, so if you want to get more normal textures next time, you should uncheck Super2xSal textures.

cleaning bot position address for investigation special agent in case it hasn't been posted before:
x coordinate: 00DEDF48 (float)
y coordinate: 00DEDF50 (float)
z coordinate: 00DEDF49 (float)
starting position:
x-1532
y-423
it's for antids-mupen, and it's for the bot that has to be activated to get further in the level. the bot can warp forward sometimes, so that you can get faster times, but nobody knows why it warps. knowing the position might help understand better how it works.

It's commonly thought that the Doom TASes were the first ones, but the first one was actually done by me in Sonic 1 already in 1991, which is a couple of years earlier. The game has debug mode you can access with a button code which gives you some TAS capabilities, such as frame advance.

Since I do many N64 TASes, desyncs are common and they are the most annoying thing. For games that desync very much, I've had to deal with the problem by aiming for less perfection. That way I don't get too annoyed, and I can keep TASing and progressing faster. It's still annoying though that the TAS has to be played back from the very beginning after about one minute of progress. Playing the movie back from a save state doesn't work in the most desyncy games because it causes a desync in the playback.
The next most annoying thing is variable framerate, which is common in N64 games. It makes TASing take much longer because it's impossible to know when the game reacts to input and how long you have to hold a button, so you have to do continuous testing of future input.
Both of these annoyances are problems with the emulators though, maybe not with TASing itself.

A couple of things I'm wondering:
This is quite a small improvement of the previous TAS; it's only 1.55 seconds faster, so I'm wondering how do you keep track of the time so that you don't lose time compared to the previous TAS? Do you have another mupen64 in the background, running the previous TAS, and constantly comparing how you're doing?
I'm also surprised by the patience you have in all the parts of the run where there are no known improvements to be made, so they have to be done almost exactly the same. Do you maybe use a bot or hex edit for those parts?

Yeah, that sounds pretty messed up. The only multi TASing I did was one simple 4-player mode in Goldeneye, where I didn't need to do perfection.
By the way, I improved the last level, Ruins PA, from 1:08 to 1:05: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k07Jr89pcsE
Most of this is the same as the 1:08, I only improved the ending a bit.

I think I found an address that displays the position of the elevator on Attack Ship. It's 00E0D2E4 (short). It seems to be entirely consistent and predictable though, so I guess I just timed the elevator wrong. Maybe I can find the Elvis position too some day if I decide to improve that level.

Yeah, co-op TAS of this game would be interesting, but the game is already very hard to TAS because of the desync issues and low+variable framerate, so there would be twice as much lag and desyncs in co-op, and twice as much input, so it would make it at least 4 times harder than 1-player.

i don't have a favorite smartphone game because i don't like to carry around a tracking device in my pocket that the government uses to track my every move.
smartphone games aren't very good, i tried to slice some fruit and shoot birds but it wasn't that fun

kinda cool... it makes the run last longer. i wonder though, why you don't take 10 ring TVs. i know they aren't necessary, but they aren't harmful either, right? they would even be useful to take sometimes, to gain time which is lost by avoiding them.
youtube should allow 60 fps videos. the shield looks weird in the youtube video.
it's also a bit weird that you sometimes use the level select to go to the levels. would have been interesting to see how high that score would reach. but i guess i can just multiply the number of levels with 50000. but it could have been interesting to see if the game would blow up if you reach 1 million.

Maybe if you're familiar with the game, but i only played this game once, and it was like 10 years ago.. so it would take several hours, even if I watch walkthrough videos and speedruns.
