Bisqwit and I did a few tests on Lunar Ball (before figuring out, the bonus would eventually kill us). http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1578 I ran some tests while developing my botcode on The 3-D Battles of World Runner http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4191&highlight=

If you download the whole deal, you can simply open the VC project (its located in fceu>vc7 or vc8). Due to the GUI the thing doesn't even exist in a linux build (and I don't know how change that either). Last time I worked on it was about half a year ago though. I don't really have the time for it this year. I was going to do a complete re-write when I start though. The segmented-run-code doesn't work (it desyncs). But the rest works properly, last time I checked.

I've expanded BasicBot to have it record... oh I forgot how many frames. The downside is that you have to download and compile an alpha version of FCEU from the sourceforge project. It does have more features and more fixed bugs though! A better parser, a faster interpreter, frame-skips, etc.

It's a pity the SF project is once again as good as dead. I don't see any updates to the SVN, nor emails over teh list. I wonder if it will ever be finished.

Solid reasoning right there.

That would be quite revolutionary at this point (seeing the age of the game...). You didn't happen to record it or anything?

It's funny to suddenly see this topic active as well as the NES one.

Okay, my two cents then. I dont speak nor read japanese (although it is on my todo list ;)). I used a translator app (here: http://www.tialsoft.com/japanese-translation/) which only allows for 6000 chars per translation, but whatever. Style did get lost so you're on your own there. It's a very rough translation but i figure you can manage if you really want to. Good luck with it... If it doesnt copy japanese chars properly here i'll upload the .doc i copied the whole thing into somewhere. --- edit: mm mmm mm this will take three or four posts to just put the whole text in. I'll just upload ;) http://phil.uu.nl/~zee/chrono.doc

He probably means that he found FCEU on some site that has spyware. There are a gazillion sites that offer FCEU in all sorts of versions and what not. Probably the majority of tehm are hosted on such sites. "Ignore the spam on those sites and download it there if you must, or avoid these sites completely if possible" is my advice.

Also, there's more to it then just running. You need to jump at very precise times to actually make it run-worthy. GA's aren't that precise (although you could code in all the obstacles and... no I still believe it's very inefficient).

The first part looked like joking, the latter looked more serious, so it was confusing :p It did seem to me as if that was your first post there... Oh i just finished reading the whole damn thread :p I didn't want to read it before I finished the game, and I didn't exactly marathon through the game so... :p I'll skip to general now. This just seemed the appriopriate thread to ask since you're both working on it here :)

Offtopic... (very much so) I'm reading through the whole damn thread of zelda TP at SDA... (180 pages ffs, but very cool) and saw the post where Baxter flamed Angerfist for flaming mwl for flaming DJS (for fl... no wait that was it). Kind of made me laugh and wonder whether it was for real, seeing how the two of you are working so close together here. Figured it'd be best not to post anything about it there (also since it's 40 pages or so from where it's now :p) Just made me laugh.

I'm really curious to the wip but I don't have a zsnes set up for playing files. Could somebody record it to avi and put it on youtube/google or some download-site?

it would only be impressive to know the same file plays the game on different consoles. But it would take a lot of micromanagement since you can't really input and check on both emulators at once, so you're stuck loading and playing the file one the other emulator, almost framestepping, to check if an action killed you or nay.
