I've helped in the past with translation / localization to Spanish for another page so I have already some experience with it & would gladly help here too.
I did found the run entertaining, so is a yes in that aspect.
The TAS was well done and fast too, it's a bummer though that is only 1 track as others have mentioned :S
I was going to ask you if you had any info about this TAS, but it seems that is already mentioned inside the video (which you might want to include on the post).
Ironically I cannot ready Japanese at all (despite being me who've made a couple of TASes for this game XD) so I cannot understand what it mentioned on the video (well, some are obvious like stats). However I can see that adding the Reset to the run made it possible to skip more battles. Wonder what else is different from the published run & the one neo_omegon made with SNES9x.
Anyways, congrats to Yu-ki(Hs) for making this run :)
I had thoughts on maybe some day create a TAS for this game (had some addresses mapped but never finished tracing the map routes), but there's no need anymore, well done link_7777.
Obviously, yes vote!
Seems that it (finally) hit my account, so most images I've ever linked are now broken. Good thing is that I was warned on time and was able to backup the images (Thanks again Mothrayas).
Had to disabled the mood ones as I haven't had the time to upload them elsewhere and it was now breaking the site
Thanks for the heads-ups.
I may not post frequently, but always lurk around.
I have been using Photobucket almost since its start (apparently I created my account on May 13, 2004 & it started its service on May 8, 2003...). That said, I haven't noticed any picture breaking up but oh boy is it going to give me a headache having to re-host and update my profiles (since I pretty much use everywhere) @_@
I think I'm one of the few that will enjoy this run, it reminds me of the old days I used to play Peterbox, a clone of Sokoban (in fact I recognize several maps appearing in this game)

I had forgotten about the pause glitch causing the timer to run slower, thanks for pointing it out E-Dragon.
Getting the fastest in-game time would require bugs (considering techniques used in here just exploits and not bugs per se). I prefer this run being as such, after all this is how runners compete in GP Mode. Otherwise you could do individual runs for the tracks that lets you play in Practice just to get the best in-game timer, which includes the full Knight League.
As for playing under Master difficulty, regardless whether or not you can get faster times, you can get a different ending, so that's make a difference (other than just playing in the hardest mode) so it could be a plus to include it.
Anyway, I really loved the TAS so congrats and thanks for making this possible nymx :)
Not sure if that was a legitimate question or not, but the answer is simple:
320 = 0x0140
0x40 = 64
This means that displaying the exp. gained is stored in only 1 byte while you can gain more than that, hence it gets truncated
The shell code execution? This was presented on the streams when it was being created, so I think I can explain it.
You have to position the sprites of the enemies (which needed to be turtles IIRC) in an specific X coordinate so that it gets interpreted as ASM. The enemies de-spawn when they are off-screen (and their values will remain for some time) but other enemies may spawn in the addresses you just set, so you have to be careful on how & when to scroll the screen. There was another value that had to be manipulated, but can't remember what was it...
The nostalgia, I played this game back in '93 even before having a computer at home (played it at a local store).
Not much to say about the run itself, but it was nice to see this game again.
Nice run diggidoyo,
As you said, since it uses cheats (for a good cause, but still) it won't make it, but at least I was able to see how fast you can get in this game, so I appreciate that.
I still would had preferred that for in-game time you would play the Time Attack mode as the real-time already plays the normal mode.
I really liked playing this game as a kid and also liked its music. Thanks for the run Spikestuff.
The TAS looks good, only quirk I may wanted to see is that in bonus games at least you also jumped to the left (on the 1st platform) just for some variety.
I'm using Visual Boy Advance, but I'm not sure why it would matter. I'm mapping some memory addresses because I was playing this game lately.
I see no Lua script on this topic, but there was some memory addresses posted on the previous page:
I haven't tried them, but the X-speed is missing the last digit, hence why it wouldn't work. Looking at it it would seem the correct address would be 03003F44
I was looking for some memory addresses for this game and had no problem to find one for the world (03002A69). However, I want to find one for the current level & can't pinpoint it.
I see there are some for the general map coordinates (03003DE4 & 03003DE8/6) that I could use instead, but was hoping for something more direct...
Any help is appreciated.
I can't even get the designs to work as they claim to do.
The closest one I've tried is called ReTort, which after some iterations, it evolved into a similar form that was able to pass the test of the gap...
For example, in Hang Ten the best cars have huge wheels, so the car gets stuck after a while. Making them smaller allows you to reach further like with this one:
If only it had a better way to create the cars, sliders aren't good enough...
Edit: Can anyone test this one in Speedway. It subbed 15 seconds for me. All I did was a slight change in one of the best one and voila
Hey jagg2zero, is great you have given some thoughts on making a full run of this game (and even coming with an updated version of Silence 1).
As I'll always say, this game is one of the most anticipated runs I'll ever have, so I'm excited to see you post here. Also welcome to TASvideos :D
I gotta try those bugs you posted there neo.
I suppose that lowest character means the one in 4th position and it has not to do with stats, like experience or speed, correct? (I know it should say in the link you provide, but I can only read it with a translator :P)
Not sure if he has posted here before, but I do remember Yu-ki(Hs) from his Kirby Super Star TASes (another game I love), always hoping to see an update on that TAS.
I thought only he has access to his tools, or not?
BTW, If you're still going for the Pokemon idea where the Pokedex number equals the solution, I thought of Psyduck! its Pokedex is 56 (and that number seems to appear on the seed chosen, right?)
Had to look for the stepmania run, pretty much this was my expression: o_O
you can watch it around this timer:
