It is a very good TAS but I asked myself a question... Why do we accept a TAS of a single episode? It would not be the same that if we had accepted a TAS "world 1" of Super Mario Bros.?
Episodes on DOS games work differently from worlds on console games. Many games, Wolf 3D included, were released as shareware, which meant the first episode was released for free, while you could then order the rest of the game for a price. Episodes are generally entirely independent from eachother, and completing one episode boots you back to the menu. We've had precedents for single-episode publications for DOS runs, but also full-game publications.

Can I humbly request 2828S be added to gruefood delight? #2828: scrimpeh's NES Castlevania "no subweapons, no damage" in 13:18.44 I know the movie's like 6 years old at this point, and it stinks to suggest your own movies, but I submitted the run with the hopes of making Gruefood Delight, even if it couldn't get published. Several people in the discussion thread had also provided positive feedback on the run and, indeed, suggested the run go to Gruefood Delight.

Even though I have no idea what kind of game this is or what the run does
There's several submissions with encodes in Grue and the Workbench already, which you can use to inform yourself. You're also free to download the freeware ROM and acquire an understanding yourself.

I would like to ask if this conforms to my favorite principle of "end the input where no further input can make the ending be reached faster".
It probably doesn't.

Finally we got Wolf 3D. The mechanical precision in the movement and angles, along with the really fast movement speed made the TAS really entertaining to watch. Here's hoping for the other episodes to come soon. Mein Yes Vote!

I'm currently using github for the same purpose as googlecode. Bonus points for github also supporting subversion, so if your previous workflow included using that, you should be able get by without much difficulty adapting. I'm not sure if github actually is very keen on hosting non-programming related projects, but it's working for me. I should probably look up the TOS at some point.

Fairly quick, linear GBC platformer. The music's not bad. RTA in 13:08 is here. Something else I discovered during my testing on the game: On the ice world (7:18 in the RTA), there is a section where the rhino has to lay down to go asleep for a while. It is possible at this place to jump and clip into the ceiling to potentially skip this sequence - but you get stuck in the wall and can't get out. Another minor thing that is probably without a use: When standing on a vertically moving platform, if there is a solid block above you, you can jump and clip through the ceiling.

My exact age is a riddle, though I shall give you a hint. In 365 days, I will be one year older than I am today.

Nice work, Masterjun. Very entertaining. It is still my opinion that a full-game playaround TAS of Super Mario World would be absolutely, positively dazzling.

Maybe this thread should be merged with either the Half-Life or the Source thread, although I believe the specific tools used here are different. Link to video I came across this video the other day. It claims to be TAS. As someone who dabbled into TF2 jumping some years back, this makes me very excited.

One day all the little horsies were led into a glue factory. They never came out again. The end.

Thanks for the encode, Zakem66. The run looked very well optimized and the new speed booster mechanics look very interesting. The question is whether all of this is really enough to set it apart enough from any other Super Metroid hack, and especially Super Metroid Zero Mission. I kind of wish this site was more inclusive toward hacks, but we've had this discussion before. Anyhow, good work on the run Zakem. Voting Yes for entertainment.

Yo, I just want to drop in and say that you've been doing awesome work on Zero Mission and Fusion. Really looking forward to what an updated TAS of either game might bring.

Sweet, Thexder. If the author wants, I can make a quick temp encode of the submission. /Edit: The encode's here: Link to video If the author wants to make his own or an encoder wants to make a proper version, I can take it down. As for the TAS itself, I liked it. I can't tell for sure if it's fully optimized, but I found it interesting enough. Voting yes though I figure it will go to vault.

And there's also the matter of needing to find a game that's publicly available so that AGDQ doesn't get into trouble, and the host of legal issues surrounding that, and you will quickly see why dwangoAC searches for games that /can/ be played at the marathon.
Since using a popular existing (and copyrighted) game has legal issues, and using a custom game has entertainment issues, can the idea of a TAS competition be viable after all? Was this a somewhat failed experiment? Can it be made to work somehow? (There is also the practical problem that it may be unrealistic to have a completely new never-before-seen game made for every single GDQ event...)
It has been made to work previous GDQ with Streeemerz. While the game itself was not brand new, most people did not see it coming. FWIW: I didn't participate this time when I learned the game was nonlinear because I didn't feel like routing.

I assume you're meaning to change the author name. Open up the .bk2 in 7-zip or comparable, open Header.txt and change the name under the author section.

For what it's worth, I saw the movie back when it was originally submitted and didn't get the chance to vote and comment on it before it was cancelled. With that said, I am entirely in support of the run being published for the time being. It is extremely well done and contains many before unseen tricks. When an improvement comes along, it can still obsolete this TAS. Voting yes, many months after the fact.
