I don't know if this is the right place to post this WIP, but I can't find another CV3 topic. :P http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/19089557368838353 This will be a hardmode, Trevor-only run. I will take the Sunken City path since none of the published runs feature that level.
Pretty good WIP so far. I like the goal choice, it's a nice combination of all the things this site hasn't seen yet. I couldn't spot any obvious improvements either. Maybe you can manipulate the Zombies in the graveyard in such a way that you have to jump less times, but I'm not sure whether Hard Mode lets you do that the same way you can do it normally. Keep it up.

Depends on whether I was playing the game before I was TASing it. If I played it before, I will generally come back to it one day or another. There's only few games I returned to that I only ever played to TAS them.

For the most part, the run is just Rockman with the level of glitches of the second to current NES submission. Technically not bad, but not worth a seperate category to be brutally honest. Here's hoping for an eventual Mega Man "No magnet beam" run.

Enough of this monkey business, it's time to put this submission where it belongs.

Pretty fun watch. The movement looked very smooth and there were some very nice tricks involved. Without knowing how it compares to the Genesis version, I'm all for this movie being published. Yes vote.

Outstanding. This is the 100% TAS the game deserves. Also, oh god, that sprite glitch. Yes vote, natch.

I was about 11 and needed a nickname to join a forum. I went with 'scrimpy'. There's no special story to the name, but I thought it up with the following considerations: 1.It should start with the letter S. (Because all the cool names I knew at the time started with s) 2.It should be just one word. (I wanted a fairly short and snappy name.) 3.It should not be a word from the dictionary. Quite a fail in that respect, but I wasn't aware at the time 'scrimpy' actually meant something. Over time, the name morphed around a bit, so in some places (like here), I'm registered as scrimpeh. It's like they say, know your enemy.

http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/18557461694126948 This is a little test I made for a Pacifist run. Like with other runs of this type, the objective is to complete the game while defeating as few enemies as possible - in this run, only one regular enemy is killed. I started making this movie mainly because I was bored one day. It's not optimal enough to submit (there are a few issues with damage routes and stuff) but nonetheless I'm quite pleased with how it turned out. Sometime later on I might redo this. Depends on how I'm feeling, at the end of the day.
This was very neat. The nice thing about Darkwing Duck is that the enemy placement makes a pacifist run very nontrivial, and this run shows some excellent dodging as a result. However, could you maybe have avoided killing one dude by getting to the area with more health? Just curious.

Why not make the Gender option work like the Location option and display beneath the Avatar in text? Personally, I think that would look better.

One more reason why PSXhawk should come along pronto. First take damage from one of the spike balls and then jump through a one tile gap between the wall and the lowest spike ball to nab the cage without backtracking. Not sure if there's a good real time setup for it, the timing needs to be pretty precise. Edit: You can also take damage from the spiked notes below and use that to get through, I think that's the best setup.

I like the vault. My favorite types of TASes are for those stupid cookie-cutter games and the Vault allows those games to be published. I do support a rename/reworking though. The current form is kind of like a "stamp of shame".
I spend about 30 minutes trying to write an argument that amounts to petty whining, then I browse through the thread and see that nitrog of all goddamn people summed it up better than I ever could in two sentences. Whatever. Some games 'deserve' to get vaulted more than others. I don't think anyone would miss A2600 Spiderman if it wasn't on the site. Hydlide is a million times more entertaining, yet it's in the same tier as Spiderman. What's the point of optimizing any run if it ends up in the same tier as Spiderman?

Knowing a bit about programming in general and about the systems you're TASing for certainly never hurts, but it's not gonna just make you into an amazing TASer. More important in my eyes is having a good sense of observation and being able to draw the right conclusions from that. Things like finding RAM addresses or determining a game's RNG just become more of a learnt thing than something that relies on programming knowledge.

Call of Duty 1 runs on a modified Quake Engine. It is probably too advanced to run in hourglass and it will stay like that for years. If you'd really want to TAS Call of Duty, your best bet are the Quake Engine demo tools.

This was surprisingly entertaining for a game with so much grinding. Voting yes.

A free Game Maker game currently in development, aiming to recreate Metroid 2 in the style of the GBA games. I'm very excited for it. A demo is out, check it out here. Considering that the game is basically Metroid, I think it should make good TASing material once finished. I haven't checked to see whether it runs in hourglass yet, which might be a problem since it's a Game Maker game. What do you guys think?
