Nice improvement, and I'm a big fan of ending input early. Yes vote. As for the category name, I think newgame+ is more common and better known. "Replay mode" sounds more like a game mode comprised entirely of the game's cutscenes or something.

This was something new. Who knew that zipping like this was possible?

All this action and crazy antics, and yet the movie doesn't get the high score. Tsk, tsk, tsk. In all seriousness, this was incredible. The sheer number of enemies on the screen was staggering, and the entire movie was really fast paced and frantic. Easy yes vote for an awesome run.

Hey guys, I found out that if you write down your password here, it is automatically censored: ********* Amazing! Dumb jokes aside, usability and security are always at odds with eachother. My advice is to just excercise common sense and not to use throwaway passwords (much less the same ones) in more sensitive websites than this one. Above all else, don't just give the password out yourself.

@Quibus: The first key you see is a trap, as you will not be able to escape the platform without dying. I believe Vampire Killer did something very similar in Stage 6-1.

I don't know why, I can't help but relate every music to Castlevania ones. Just one question, you suddenly dropped through the platform on 7:50 in encode. Any chance if this trick works elsewhere? Otherwise, I find this enough to be accepted.
I believe that spot was just an oversight by the game devs, they forgot to make this set of tiles solid. Or maybe they put it there deliberately so you can skip the large trap. I only caught it by chance myself, don't think there's other "secret passageways". Thanks for the feedback.

Alright, thanks for the feedback, everyone. It's truly appreciated. thatguy: The most rerecord intensive part of the run was manipulating the RNG. The beginning of Stage 4-1 is probably the biggest instance of this. I had to experiment with several RNG approaches until I found the one in which the skeletons act favorably. I land too close to the ledge in 5-2 from the higher platform, so it's faster to just walk down.

You replay a movie in Read+Write mode. (Uncheck the Read-Only box in the Play Movie dialog.) When you load a savestate, you begin recording again. Be careful not to load a savestate that is too early and overwrite input.

Sometimes I like to joke there's a rivalry between SDA and tasvideos. In practice, we're all cool.

The run reminds me of that one "buster only, no glitches" run we had previously and it does have to face similar issues. Right off, this run is heaps better than the other one because it is actually allowed to use subweapons, allowing for a smoother run. I actually did enjoy seeing some of the Magnet beam shortcuts in the run. The problem with a category like this to define where exactly to draw the "low glitch" line. The pause glitch clearly is allowed in this run (with useful application), as is the block duplicating glitch with Gutsman's weapon. (At least, I think that's a glitch.) They are definitely not as severe glitches as zipping, and everybody will have used the Pause glitch at least once. The question is whether they add enough entertainment to the run to be considered acceptable for a "low glitch" category. The run looked decently optimized for the most part, except that a few of the jumps didn't look as tight as they could have been. Avoiding enemy drops is key here. Also, in the Fake Mega Man Battle in Wily 2, it looks like the boss should have died in the center of the screen so the screen would clear faster. I can't tell for sure, however. Overall, I found this run entertaining enough to vote yes. I'm betting it could be optimized a bit more, but with new category submissions like this, it's always about whether the category is acceptable or not. With that said, I'm always in favor of seeing new category choices, which is why I'm happy for this run.

You can try manually changing the file with a hex editor according to these sepcs. There might be a converter, but I'm not sure. It's unlikely it will sync though on snes9x 1.51 due to emulation differences, as with Bizhawk.

My own humble self, of course. (Seriously, of the ones that haven't been mentioned yet, in descending order of publications: got4n, mtvf1, TASeditor and Hoandjzj.)

Funny how nearly anyone else I'd nominate usually has at least one co-author submission with Meshuggah. I think this one is clear.
