I didn't know at all of this game before this TAS, but it looked fairly well done with a couple of obvious TAS tricks. Going by your explanation, also a considerable amount of thought went into this TAS, so I'll vote Yes.

Nice to see you producing another run so quickly. This one was short, but nice. Yes vote

Very nicely done. Question: In BLK 7-0A you delay for a few seconds to avoid getting hit. Is it really worth the time loss to avoid the health recharge at the end of the level?
You mean the second room where I mess around a bit before jumping at the wall? That's actually subpixel manipulation, because I need to get as close to the wall as possible without actually touching it. The more subpixels I have, the fewer jumps I need.

Excellent run! Quick question (and I hope it isn't a stupid one) on the second screen of BLK 8-02 is it possible it enter the blocks above you and to the left of where you enter the screen (next to the staircase out of the room)? I wasn't sure if this meets proper conditions, or if it takes too long to set up, or do the axe knight and the slime prevent this since they would be attacking you?
Unfortunately, you need a solid wall right next to you for the trick to work - the edge of the screen won't cut it

Myself, I don't even find the new scene that badly made either. I'm glad Ashleigh redid Rainbow Dash's lines as well, and Derpy's new voice is okay too. It's just a shame such a tiny thing had to generate such a massive shitstorm, not once, but twice, and, personally, I'd prefer it if we just accept it the way it is and move on. In any case, the original's still on my hard drive.

One thing I'd like to preserve for the game, at this spot in level 5, it is possible to jump through the ceiling/wall, end up below, and skip nearly the entire level -- but only on the DOS version. I have already talked to electrospecter about this, but, since it's impossible on the Mega Drive version (at least not so easily, I hope), the DOS version might just be viable to TAS as well

Not exactly one of the shortest or fastest paced games, I still think an optimized TAS iof the game could be interesting. The same person who also did the GTA3 TAS did a full TAS of Mafia, though, yeah, you should plan a full afternoon for watching it: Link to video (Video's only Part 1)

Great to see the run is finally finished, it was an entertaining ride throughout. Aside from the backtracking the game forces on you, the way you interact with enemies, bosses and play around during idle times was hillarious. Obvious yes vote

But then that would be incredibly boring. Anyway I'm 99% sure none of us want to go all-out with the glitches. My top priority is just to make an entertaining run for all. But we have to restrict some things to achieve that. Alternatively, as this situation seems to be, we'll never make our minds up and won't start the run. :p
Speaking of, there was an incredible playaround in the works by some people, what happened to that? Considering all the new tricks that have been found, making a playaround in which one gets over 96 exits might just be glorious.

Now, ignoring there's apparently a faster version out, this TAS isn't too shabby to my eyes. It contained many standard mega man tricks applied nicely, and it, to the bare eye, looked optimized. There only were a few times where you took damage rather ungracefully, but I'm not sure that could've been avoided. As of this, fundamentally, I would like to see the TAS published here, even if it isn't the fastest run. (It makes for an easy obsoletion later, I guess) Voting yes.

Whoa. Who is this nach guy to be denying such art? Can't even reply in the thread like everyone else and simply desecrates the beginning of the thread because he made a movie with no effort that is frames faster... FRAAAAMES. OOOOOOH! Course I detect jealousy.. You can't accept something so beautiful as Mario hunching over like a hedgehog so you hide in a hole like one because you're so maad about it. You'd be all angry about Maroni too if he ever got popular. Yo nach, you may think you're such a toaster but I forgot my butter so I won't be using you today. hey nach, you think you're such a cheese but I'll give you an o and you'd be a nacho. nach, you may think you're such a telephone but if you ring and wake me up one more time i'll put you off the hook or disconnect you or buy a bigger phone cord and put you in the bathroom where I can't here you but you can use the sink if you need to shave. Turn that nach into an H can. But of course Nach probably won't bother to read this because he's already made his decision.. he's just too high and mighty with his effortless frame counting.. go count your frames. Course before I clicked send I clicked the link he's most known for. I didn't learn much about him but I learned about "game downloaden" and quitting smoking, filing taxes, and even a weight loss plan to boot! Frame this! I'm gonna edit this 4 times for emphasis on how much h could do better without effort but didn't.
...Were you trying to rap?

Yup. It's faster then before. I am curious, why has no one done the MSX version? I consider that to be the "real" game and this is some bad port.
We've been pestering dunnius on IRC the entire time to do it, so yeah, dunnius: You know what to do now :P

First off, I apologize if this was already pointed out in the General Thread, I haven't looked through all of it. Anyway, one thing about Hourglass that has been concerning me is that Hourglass doesn't sandbox the game it's running. This means that while running the game, making, or even watching TASes, Save Files and other files could potentially be permanently changed. For example, watching a Run that completes Eversion sets the game into timeattack mode, making other runs desync. What's the easiest way to avoid this? Keep a separate folder with the original unchanged game executable to fall back on? Because that approach does sound kind of clumsy, to be honest. Or could there be something I'm missing?

Fairly sure that'd result in bragging about achievements or mentioning obscure games nobody else played.

I do think the game is worthy enough of a TAS, but a good ending run would've done the game a lot more justice. It was nice to see a TAS, but I was very disappointed when I realized you weren't going for all gems. For the moment, I will refrain from voting, because I hate to vote 'no' on a TAS I actually like. Please do make a 100% run, I'm sure people will be a lot more enthusiastic towards it. //Also, I'd like to see an earlier version with the original Cocoron music more, but that's just me

Sounds like an issue with your keyboard, that's fairly common. Often, the only thing you can do is rebind frame advance and/or the direction keys so they don't conflict. Keys like Ctrl are supposed to be pressed with other keys, hence they make good canidates for this.
