Where should I start if I want to learn to help develop emulators? I'm very much a beginner; I've examined and written some Lua code and have taken some Computer Science courses in college (university) and learned some basic Python, C++, and Java.
Here's a thread of someone asking the same question. There's a bunch of informed opinions and mine in it.

Excellent work once again. I liked the new boss fights, they look much better than in my old TAS. The damage boosts also help to reduce the more monotone sections. Throwing the cross behind you to give it more reach to start the water elevator earlier was also a nice touch. The run also looked completely clean from what I can tell, with no improvements in sight. I think that this run should obsolete the current publication rather than being a new category, because all the differences between the versions only add to the entertainment. Happily voting yes on another great run. Keep it up.

Link to video More Newgrounds Vintage, this time from around 2005 or so. The aspect ratio used to be different.

That was once again excellent. I never would've expected the usages of the scroll glitch in the Mummy and Drac fights. Very cool applications, and great execution throughout. Yes vote.

Now this was a very pleasant surprise. Moving through those cramped corridors with such ease is nothing short of mindblowing, and the run looked incredibly smooth throughout. I'm so glad that there are finally all four episodes on the site. Yes vote. What the hell was that voidwalk!?

Yeah I'mma need some volume warning for those world 4 bounces. Very entertaining TAS otherwise. Great improvement to the old run.

Thanks for the commentary. It helps explain some of the tricks I otherwise would've missed, like the death warp in the castle. The use of the teleports was really cool. Overall, I'm voting yes for entertainment. Nice work.

Due to various circumstances, I recently found myself playing TNT Evilution, one of the expansion packs for Doom 2. I went into the game with a lot of expectations. What I didn't expect however was for the soundtrack to be this much of a banger.

I'm so happy watching this run. For how substantial the improvement and the routing changes are, the run looks incredibly well planned and executed. I'm also surprised in just how many places the skip could be used. Absolutely beautiful run from start to finish. Gladly voting yes.

Thanks xxezrabxxx for the encode! So this is the first of the Batman runs I saw, and it was a very smooth experience throughout. The tricks stood out, and nothing ever seemed to slow you down significantly. Yes vote.

Wow, that was really cool. Thanks for sharing this. I just wonder why the author didn't use the zip glitches.
They're fixed in the JP version. English version has faster gameplay, JP has faster text.
Ah, ty. I didn't know that.

I found this video and figured that I should post it here: https://youtu.be/jNLQzsL1ysQ From the description: "This is a tool-assisted speedrun. Emulator used is Bizhawk v2.3.0 with an mGBA core for console-accuracy. This TAS showcases new strategies aimed at saving real time as opposed to in-game time, including an up-to-date cleanup route. For this purpose, the Japanese version is used instead of English to save 2.5 minutes of text mashing. Credit goes to Biospark for a lot of the room and boss strats."

Proposal to have a megathread for all miscellaneous DOOM TASes, because there's quite a bunch of stuff that's not on the site. Here's a DOOM II Nightmare TAS by Zero-Master in 12:44, for a start. Link to video Here's a YouTube playlist with a bunch of them. Highly recommend checking them out.

For the record, PC Rayman is TASable now using a combination of libTAS and DOSBox. While this is obviously not submittable, it opens the door for the trove of PC-only Rayman releases, including custom levels for Rayman Designer. Some time ago, I made a simple TAS of the stock Designer Level 'Gone With The Wind' in 1:13 as a proof-of-concept. Link to video Most of the tricks carry over just the same between PC and PSX, although the specifics of clipping are slightly different due to the different controls.

For the record, this run uses the second controller glitches. I'm not sure if they're legal. FWIW: The movie looked pretty well executed and optimized throughout. That said, I didn't see anything unique from the current publication aside from the 2P glitches. I suppose it serves as a nice demonstration of what is possible if they were actually part of the game. I was well entertained watching, so based purely on the wording of the question, I'm voting yes. I still don't think the movie is publishable, however, due to the use of debug codes.

Thanks for the encode, CasualPokePlayer! Jokes aside, this was a very smooth and entertaining run. Not much ever seemed to hold you back, and the game was generally intersting enough throughout to hold my attention. The zips stood out especially. Voting Yah! Ya Yes.

NGL, I was expecting a bit more of a zinger. This method to obtain 99 lives is quite well known, and there's not much interesting to it other than how fast input ends.
