I wouldn't have thought the emulators behaved any different there. Perhaps ZSNES might work?

If it's open-source, it should be possible to add frame-advance and more save state slots, right? If I recall correctly, the main problem with C64 emulation was that it was difficult to verify the ROM was good. I don't know how crippling that is of a problem, but neither do I know how to fix this. Still, I'd love to see C64 TASing become possible at some point. (And all other Home computers for that matter)

One of the most treasured games of my childhood, seeing how the PSX version apparently isn't emulatable yet, there's no good Jaguar Emulator at the moment, the GBA version butchered the game and makes your ears bleed and apparent desync issues with the Saturn version, with DOS emulation possible now, maybe this game might become possible. So my question is: Is Rayman and its various spinoffs comptabile with JPC-rr? I'd love to see/do a TAS of this game, because it certainly seems entertaining enough. Also sorry if yet another thread about the same game is redundant, but, eh, it's a different platform now, isn't it?

I re-ran stage1 and improved it to 25.3s, as well as optimizing the startup time (3.8s from power-on to stage1 loaded) Here's the recording.
I'd love to see an encode of this

This game sure makes Kaizo and IWBTG look like the easiest games ever made.

I am negative towards any real adventure game, such as Full Throttle. While usually great games, they are horribly unsuited for speed running.
Agreed. Frame perfect mouse clicking just isn't that very interesting to watch.
You could still do it for the sake of seeing how quick the game can be completed. Of course, there may be the possibility for some break that'll let you complete the game very quickly or glitch it out or something else.

Well, I was wondering about more advanced FPSs such as Unreal or Half-Life. (Then again, Half-Life has a pretty impressive semi-assisted speedrun on SDA). Would those be even possible to emulate using JPC-rr?

Sure, why not?

I think this site has a serious lack of FPSs (really, I wonder why Doom SNES never had been run), but now, this might become possible. I doubt hardware acceleration is possible though.

Given how there aren't many other VBoy games, I wouldn't be too surprised.

I don't think this game makes for an interesting tas anyway. I mean come on, it's just so horrible.
This may make it all the more interesting. Games with a horribly borken physics engine come to mind.

The problem for me is that I don't know anything about the game, so for me, it looks like this could also've been done by a very skilled player. The later stages got more interesting as they've got more difficult and so, ultimately, the run warrants a yes vote from me.

I first got suckered in by the "Fake Difficulty" article in the description for one of the runs.
Super Mario Bros 2j Allstars by any chance? Still, video games aren't the most accurate when it comes to the laws of physics. Or geography. Or any laws, so, if there are games where italian plumbers can jump multiple times their own height in a surreal landscape made up of mushrooms and bricks, what is the big deal with wrap-around JRPG maps?

Ultimately, you can't really talk a lot of sense into video games. JRPGs are no expection, so why bother?

The bigger amount of hp seems to be good, as we can take damage to make de boss way faster.
I suppose there are places where the extra HP point may come in handy to save time, but I doubt they are so plentiful it'll excuse the horrible music, worse graphics and smaller screen.

The Saturn version is kind of emulatable, but we'll have to wait for a later release of Yabuse that fixes desyncing. The GBA version is very terrible in my opinion. The music will garuntee your ears bleeding by the end of the day, there's a lot of video issues with frame skipping, and a lot about the game has been lowered in difficulty, like the amount of hit points you have. I'd much rather wait for a more reliable DOSbox, PCSX, or Yabuse emulator.
I guess the Jaguar Version is out of the Question.
