Well, I lost on the 1-in-5 pick, but at least I picked five that were all high quality.

Wii will probably be solely under the jurisdiction of New Platform awards, as has been the case with new platforms in the past.

Wait, what? You took damage in Blade Man's stage on the spikes. Doesn't that count?
That was a zero-damage hit thanks to the spike guard, so I guess it doesn't count.

You can just specify "--compression -1:none"; -1 means "all tracks".

A few sync/emulator notes: 1) I don't believe anything has changed sync-wise in the last couple of revisions, so you should be able to use a fairly wide range of revisions to get this to sync. 2) Settings-wise: turn off dual-core emulation and use LLE audio; graphics-wise, to avoid some hiccups, you will want to enable Virtual XFB (I believe the setting currently is called Extended Framebuffer). Other setting tweaks may be necessary; see [post 267636]this post[/post] for a largely complete set of settings (though those are for an older version of Dolphin, and some setting names and locations have changed around) 3) You'll need to clear the Wii save data for this game by hand if this is not your first time running it. That's in <Dolphin>/User/Wii/title/00010001/57525845 (I find just deleting the directory works adequately.)

Hooray! It is here! I can handle encoding this, given that I'm the person responsible for a good chunk of the video / audio ripping code in Dolphin in the first place!

About the only thing I can think of that that would refer to would be a chart showing improvements over time? I have no idea.

So, here's my take on this: There's a bit of a spread in quality - probably the worst are tracks 11 and 15, which you can hear in the fanfare starting at 0:15, as the individual instruments are harder to picker, and the high-pitched work starting at 0:31 sound decidedly quieter and subdued, not to mention less clear. At the top end I'd have to say tracks 1, 4, 5, 6, and 8 sound the clearest, with probably 8 getting the nod for top spot, though there's really not much of a difference between those five. EDIT: having read the above post (note: I did this *after* my own tests), I'm even more curious to see what Track 8 turns out to be, and if it proves to be divisive.

After some wrangling, I've managed to put together a Win32 Dolphin build with (a slightly revised version of) my no-filtering hack: http://www.mediafire.com/?4znqo58vm05pjsg This is activated with the "Force No Texture Filtering" checkbox in the Graphics options. Currently the result of this is akin to MM9 when playing MM10. I can tell, however, that the 640x480 (640x360, really, since it's displaying in 16:9) window isn't quite the game's proper display resolution, and I could use some help in figuring out exactly what that is for future encoding purposes - hence why I'm providing this here. In any case, I'm in a position to dump/encode this when the time arrives. :) EDIT: After poking around with the "Dump Textures" option, it appears that the Capcom and Intl Creates logos are 640x480. They're stretched slightly horizontally when displayed such that they're not quite 4:3, but I'm under the impression that the game's intended to be displayed at 480p, i.e. 854x480. A quick visual check suggests this is probably the way to go and it's what I'll use to encode the run when the time comes.

Before reading the other posts: I would rank them Audios 2, 3, 1 in that order; I can hear the high frequency notes most clearly in 2. So, I'm going to guess those are FLAC, 320kbps, and 128kbps respectively. EDIT: Seems I was right on the money.

So, for the record, the Windows build of r7503 I have on hand seems to play back the movie just fine. My own Linux build... doesn't (it fails to get past the initial Wiimote warning screen). I suspect this may be because I'm running a 64-bit system and/or missed an option somewhere, so I'll keep tinkering with it (there's a patch I want to use in ripping this movie that would force disable texture filtering so it looks nice and crisp). EDIT: after some effort putting together a 32-bit Linux build, I was able to ... get exactly the same freeze as the 64-bit build. Odd. In any case, it appears to sync under the conditions you're TASing in, so we should be good to go at the appropriate time (someone other than me may have to rip the movie, though).

Hey there - can I have a look at the latest dtm? I want to make sure we will be able to play this back / encode this on our own when the time comes.

Exactly. As I said, I encouraged this in the first place to prevent duplication of effort. Those of you with long memories may remember a time when several encodes would turn up for popular runs whereas runs of less-well-known games would languish without encodes; this clearly wasn't the best use of our collective encoding talent.

The problem with Lord Tom's suggestion is not all of our encoders have the ability to edit submission texts (that's a privilege restricted, at present, to vested editors and up). Those that do have those privileges normally do add encodes to the header of the submission text.

For those wondering: I've been attempting to upload an encode to YouTube for the greater part of the day and failing. If it suddenly decides to cooperate, I'll add the link then.

I only came across this when trying to view this topic - it was triggered by your avatar, which I have now removed as a result.

It's been pointed out to me on several occasions that it's detrimental to have someone "claim" an encode and then not work on it for several days. I encouraged the practice of posting to indicate that you're working on an encode to avoid duplication of effort; extending this to "claiming" an encode is, in my view, silly, particularly when one person is "claiming" several encodes at once. You can't possibly work on more than one - maybe two if you're really on top of things. So, I'm asking all encoders to only indicate that they're working on one or two movies at most at any given time, particularly those that you are actively working on. Also, don't use the word "claim"; this isn't a formal process like judging (except where publication is concerned). That is all.

<mmbossman> you know the AMA is restricting sale of Viagra to lawyers, right? <DarkKobold> Really? <mmbossman> it just makes them taller ;) <DarkKobold> hahaha <DarkKobold> I see your joke, and raise you a lightbulb question: <DarkKobold> How many hipsters does it take to change a lightbulb? <DarkKobold> It's an obscure number, you've probably never heard it.

Don't remove streaming links unless you have a replacement already ready to be linked to.

I don't like the pipe screenshot - it doesn't show very much of what's going on. The clock screenshot is a little more pleasing to look at, and probably the best of the batch in my view.
