You might seek out some of the runs that did not encode very well at the time of publication. Mega Turrican and Gunstar Heroes come to mind. 3D runs would also be worth investigating (Crash Bandicoot 2, anyone?).

an entertaining movie of this game
As far as I'm concerned, that is an oxymoron. Though I welcome someone to try if the method to do this exists.

To note: I originally came up with those settings for deldup; it was the first set I came up with that dealt reasonably well with the two videos for which problems had previously been observed (Bisqwit's no-friction Lunar Ball run and my CK5 run). They could possibly be fine tuned further.

Thread renamed, moved, and locked for being devoid of meaningful content. wellbe6, please think before you post! If you want discussion on a particular topic, make the effort to write a post to get discussion started rather than just typing "...".

As much as I can tell that there was effort put towards making this run entertaining, it still comes up short. Perhaps it's that as a result of lack of consistency (sometimes aiming for the best possible result and sometimes aiming for the worst possible result) it doesn't feel particularly tool-assisted. I also maintain that a run of a game of this genre has almost nil technical merit; there's little to trade here in favour of entertainment. The result is that basically any run of this game, no matter how much of a speed-entertainment trade-off there is, is going to come up short in both respects. I vote no.

There's clear effort in the route planning and luck manipulation here, but the stock gameplay is very bland and repetitive. I therefore vote meh. Encode: http://www.archive.org/download/SmsZillion100ByCaitsith2In1830.38/zillion-tas-100p-caitsith2.mp4

In addition to being not very interesting to watch, there's little evidence that tool assistance adds much of benefit to this run - in other words, the run looks as though it could have been performed by a high calibre speed runner in that it doesn't look like anything takes place that is obviously impossible under real time conditions. Even a thoroughly optimal run of this game (as by all indications this one is) just does not have enough technical merit, in my opinion, to be worth publishing. As the runs on this site are not solely about entertainment, so too are they not solely about level of optimisation - which, I must emphasise, is not the same as technical merit. Some games allow for neither interesting viewing nor sufficient flexibility to allow for staggering technical feats, and this falls squarely into such a category. Further, previous runs of this game have been rejected for poor game choice. This all leads to a vote of no.

After some experimentation, I've discovered that specifying a game in the GBA slot that matches what's in the ini file (WarioWare Twisted) causes the run to sync. I make no further comment as to the acceptability of the run as a result of this.

I get a desync in Wily 1, and I'm apparently not alone in this respect if IRC is any indication. Apparently the ROM checksum doesn't match what's listed in the input file. Has anyone been able to get this to play back successfully?

sorry, I thought the "512kb" one was closer to the original, because it was larger and it looked like the Flash video...downloading now
The 512kb encode is derived by archive.org specifically for the purpose of streaming. That said, it seems to been having issues with that particular derivation process recently (you yourself have seen a couple of encodes where the derive process more or less fails to provide a video stream altogether recently).

Here's the belated YT3D HD encode: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=B9395338D9FD8266 (Part 2 was still processing at time of posting, but it should be ready soon.)

archive.org seems to be having difficulty with re-deriving encodes for streaming purposes lately; the encode itself is fine.

hmm...not even the "512kb MP4" version looks good; could you put the original on MegaUpload or something (assuming you originally had an MKV or something with better quality)
The MP4 linked to in "Direct Linky" above is the original file. EDIT: For the record, I have reviewed the encode in that form and it is up to the site's standards (in my expert opinion).

I have heavily modified ScreenshotCompress to make use of a configurable number of random trials (similar to the Linux script on the How To Make PNG page), which has been demonstrated to yield superior results to the prior approach. A couple of bugs have also been fixed, such as not dealing well with directories with spaces and having calls to the external utilities not appear in a new window. Grab the latest version from SVN or from the Downloads page.

The format of the input file was changed shortly before publication from fcm to fm2; though the two files have the same number of frames, the site considers them to run at slightly different FPS values (60 FPS vs. 60.1 FPS).

The board occasionally eats posts thanks to some of the load-limiting techniques in place; that's a symptom that that has taken place.

I've repaired the frame count. For the record, the frame counts for movies submitted prior to the introduction of the frame count field was reverse-calculated from the length of the movie; apparently I didn't get the special cases for NTSC/PAL 100% correct. Keep your eyes open for any other mistakes.

The intended operation of the login form at the top of the page, when scripts are disabled, is for you to enter your username and press enter, after which a password field replaces the username field. If scripts are disabled, it merely links you to the normal login page instead, which you can use if you'd prefer a more normal means of entry.

For some reason I can't get Part 1 (nothing happens when I "Click here to start download.."). Is it down? The other parts worked.
Works fine here - try it again a little later, perhaps?
