That was impressive jimsfriend. SW4 was awesome. You don't know how many times i've tried that as well as the shell jump you did in vd1 and failed. One question: In Castle 2, why didn't you walljump the whole third room to get to the boss faster? Because of that, I vote meh ;)

I also thought about this a few months ago and wondered how this run wasn't in the concept demo section. It is clearly, to me, a demonstration of an alternative way to complete these games, without the goal being pure speed. If both games were completed as fast as possible then I wouldn't have a problem with it being categorized under SNES games. However, since it sacrifices speed for entertainment and to prove that an interesting CONCEPT is possible, I do not feel that it belongs under the SNES section.

I don't know if you knew it or not, but your foot is bent the wrong way and kind of in your chest. Just wanted to let you know. I was going to put pictures of me on here but all of the links just show random pictures of chicks, like what happened to one of jimsfriend's pictures. So I decided not to bother.

thegreginator, any plans on making (or just hex editing together) a shortest possible time small mario run? It would be too similar to the run we already have (and therefore not publishable), but I (and many others I'm sure) would greatly appreciate it.
After we have completed this run I could do a shortest run just to show how fast the game can be completed small. The full run's route shares the exact same route as the 15 exit so all that would have to be done would be entering star road 5 to bowser instead of going to the next level in star world. But since the only difference would be entering the front door instead of the back door, there is no point in making a run of it, as you can just watch the full run for much more enjoyment. I will, however, probably calculate how long a 15 exit run would be for the curious.

I was going through the sci-fi stage but then came to a script that I couldn't obtain. The FAQ said "In stead of going through the door, make a short stack (3 Warners req.) and jump to the left. The script is there" That didn't really help much, as there wasn't any script visible and I couldn't jump to the left. After a while, I managed to jump up onto that roof thing and jump all the way to the beginning of the stage and found the script. The only problem is that I can't grab it. If anyone knows how to get it, please let me know. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/3251/Animaniacs%20WIP2.smv This gets to the script, but doesn't get it.

I have decided to work on this when I am not working on my Super Mario World small run. Here is the first room of the opening stage. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/3242/Animaniacs%20WIP1.smv I just wanted to see if this is the fastest method for going through this game, and if there is anything that I should be doing that I didn't do in this movie. I tested 3 different methods for movement. 1. Dash then walk right until I can dash again 2. Dash then press back to stop movement then dash again 3. Dash then jump out of the dash, then dash again #1 turned out to be faster I am going to get every script in this game(100%), unless people would rather see a minimalist. The only difference is the ending. I don't know of any tricks in this game, other than dashing being the fastest form of movement, and pressing L+R lets you backwalk but at the same speed as normal walking so there aren't any advantages to it. Some of the old posts in this thread mention luck manipulation. I am curious as to what manipulation that is.

I beat the SDA record by a couple of seconds. I'm not sure of the official time, but it's between 11:07 and 11:09. I'll keep trying to see if I can get sub 11. (This is all by myself. When thegreginator and I record together we should have a much better time.) oh yeah. Best part of the run: 361 on YI2 :D !!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with what Baxter said about what a perfect game would be. Can you unlock two characters with one run through of adventure mode or can you only get one at a time? If it's one at a time then this is how it should probably be done. Not in a set order: 1. Beat the game on very hard as fast as possible to unlock Captain Falcon. 2. Beat the game on normal with highest possible score to unlock Ness 3. Beat the game on easy/very easy as entertaining as possible to unlock Jigglypuff. (If it is easier to get higher scores or more entertainment or fastest speeds on different modes, then change goals accordingly. I'm not too familiar with this game, outside of playing for fun, so I don't know.) It would be entertaining if a different character is used for each mode to avoid any repetetiveness. 4. Get fastest possible times for all characters on break the targets and unlock Luigi. 5. Get fastest possible times for all characters on board the platforms. One of the first three should go last so there can be a definite, non-debatable ending time. (last hit on Master Hand?) I think that would be the perfect run for this game. It unlocks all of the characters, as well as completing all of the practice stages and completing adventure mode with 3 different methods. I wouldn't ever do this, 1) because I am not skilled at this game at all and 2) because I don't feel like downloading and dealing with mupen. antd seems like he would be perfect for the job.

Different timing rules mrz. -SDA timing starts when you get control of the player. -TG timing starts when you press start, which happens approx. 14 seconds earlier than control of mario, which adds 14 sec. to the time. -TASvideos timing starts when the system turns on which is approx. 7 seconds earlier than when pressing start, which adds 7 sec. to that. A 10:36 by SDA + 14 seconds(twingalaxies timing) + 7 seconds(TASvideos timing)= 10:57 by TASvideos timing rules. I hope that clears things up.

Ya, that is what we do JXQ. (hand the controller back and forth for different levels) And 10:48?, thats slow too. Our estimated perfect timing by SDA would be 10:36 but not with the flight through door glitch it could be like 10:35 at least. That 10:51 was in the first post and we improved almost all of the levels; In one of the later posts I said 10:36. But the flight through door glitch saves about 2 timeunits I think which is 1-2 seconds. And yes, if you do beat the record we will be extremely motivated to beat it because and it might rid us of our console recording laziness. Anyway, good luck. I look forward to seeing some good competition. (So I assume you found a copy of smw, Andrewg?)

It could probably be possible if you just stuck to smb1 and smbj. They are the only similar games. I am almost positive it isn't possible for a multi run for super mario world because flying requires that you press left which would mess up the game that isn't flying.

Just got back home and watched it. Easy yes vote and it will be my first 10/10. I loved all of the walljumps in the big boo fight and that was my favorite bowser fight out of all of the runs. I was really impressed with boswer's castle. I can't believe I never thought of abusing flight invincibilty to not lose your cape.

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/2669/skamasta11.smv I feel shame because I used a rerecord on dsh and a bunch of rerecords on bowser's castle. I'm going to do it again but with honor.

If someone finished spezzafer's run then would that one person get all of the credit for the run or would it be listed as being done by both spezzafer and that person? Personally I think spezzafer should get some credit for the run since he did make a large portion of it.

Mine would probably have to be Queen Latifah from Rapjam. Haha best game ever. Or maybe darth from uniracers. He had a sweet personality. No but seriously, Megaman X I guess.

I think making an aboslutely horrible game into a cool video would be very difficult/impossible. Mainly due to the fact that the games are bad because not much effort was put into making the game and the controls are bad so there isn't much to work with. I am however very interested in seeing a TAS of Extreme Sports with Berenstein Bears, or maybe Bible Adventures. Rapjam Volume One seems like a pretty sweet game, I mean it has Queen Latifah in it. HAHA White Men Can't Jump. I am going to stop now. All of these crappy games are freaking hilarious.

Now that I actual have two columnns with internet explorer, I like it. It makes everything closer and easier to access. I never had any objections to the old layout but this new one works fine for me. If I had a choice I would probably go back to the old layout because I was used to it, but after a whille I will probably start liking this one more.

What determines if a sprite does or does not show up on a screen? In star world 4 for example, certain koopas locations depend on what koopas you jumped on earlier. Also sometimes the rotating platforms do not appear. I am asking because I was trying Cheese Bridge Area again just to be sure it wasn't possible. I go all the way to the end of the level, then I spin jump on the saws to the left a little and two saws are missing. I don't know what causes this but if I could manipulate the game into making the first gate tape disappear I could get the secret exit. Also when I was TASing DP1, after trying a shell jump at the end sometimes the chuck and lava plant near the gate weren't there. Then I went left and the info block was missing. I would just like to know what causes sprites to disappear so maybe CBA could be manipulated to make the secret exit accesible.

On DGH in the second room, do you think it is faster to spin jump off of ghosts onto the platform or to jump through the stairs and take the vine up? I am assuming the ghost spinjumping is faster than jumping through the stairs. You dont have pmeter before the stairs so it might take a long time to jump through. So if the ghost route is faster than how do you think I should go about getting up there in the least amount of time as possible?

While swimming is it possible to ever get a corner boost on the bottom left side of walls or do they only work on the bottom right corners? In the 11 and 96 runs, lots of bottom left corners are missed so I was just wondering if I should try and swim through them or just not worry about them because they never give boosts. Also, even if mario jerks forward when hitting a bottom left corner with an item does he not get a boost? Is the reason you can't get a boost with an item because only the bottom right corners gives boosts and you can't swim through the right corners when you have an item? EDIT: Only right corners give boosts. Now I understand why you can't get a boost when holding an item.
