I wouldn't really say the camera angles are significantly better or worse (though I'd say worse if I had to pick), but I do think the camera angle on the BLJ to BitS was one of the best parts of the last run. That's the only spot that makes me say the entertainment value is definitely less in this movie. It should still be published as an improvement I suppose; we'll see some brand new camera angles for the next improvement within 6 months, so it's not a big deal.

So this is what broke the site last night. Obvious yes. It is too bad that SMB1 finishes so much more quickly. Did you consider either warping to 2 or 3 in the first warp or warping to 6 or 7 in the second warp?

In 1-2 it lets him bring that vegetable into Birdo's room.

I really wanted to vote yes on this, but after watching it (thanks for the youtube link), I gave it a meh. The redundancy aspects have already been well-stated by others. The 0-star unsassisted run posted earlier is extremely impressive though. Too bad he choked twice on the last Bowser throw and wasted another 30 seconds.

Thank you for finishing this run. I was expecting even more of an improvement, but I think that just goes to show how optimized the previous run really was. Still, it's good to have an updated run on the site. This actually goes by so fast that I think some sort of 100% run would be worthwhile. Meanwhile, you got my vote here.

Is there any way that getting a feather that way would save time in a normal run? I really don't understand how you got the feather (and the star) in the first place; I just know it's related to the glitches that have been discussed on the last 5 or 10 pages.

I did not expect my mind to be blown before you even entered the castle. And though the trip to the top of the castle may be the best part of the run, I'm also against using that screenshot for spoiler reasons.

You get the red one from a chest in Kakariko Village if you don't have a boomerang. Tompa, please don't give up on this. Perhaps getting that many coins will actually add to the entertainment of the run; if that's the case, I don't think the upgrades are that bad of an idea. It's not hard for people to just fast forward through five minutes of coin tossing if they don't want to watch it. Think of it kind of like the LoZ swordless run, which was well-received: as long as your definition is solidly justifiable, people will accept it. What have you been working on lately anyway? I look forward to your runs.

This is not the Spider-Man 2 I was looking for. I guess the only consoles that the awesome sandbox game is on (PS2, XBox, GameCube) are not yet TAS-ready. Man, I love that game, enough so that I watched this entire run out of respect despite not finding it particularly interesting.

That was fantastic. I thought you had broken the game for a second on basically every level after 3-3. Please finish this.

Yes vote. Now where's that first quest improvement? If you can do this so quickly, I wouldn't think a normal run would take that much longer to create.

I would say feel free to collect as many heart containers and other items as you want, but leave the swordless qualifications as they are now. I'd rather see an improved regular first quest run first though. And welcome back.

Probably a stupid question... but what is the cause of the different sound effect when you gain your 94th life in 8-1? While I'm not an expert on SMB3, I know most of the little easter eggs hidden around the game, so I was surprised to hear that unique sound effect.
It's caused by Mario flapping his tail at the same moment that he gets an extra life. It was discussed pretty thoroughly in the SMB3 thread. I like to think of it as a combination of the extra life sound and the Legend of Zelda "solved a puzzle" music.

After reading the opinions presented so far, I decided to vote no. This run is faster, but it gains its speed by undermining the game's physics that made previous runs so enjoyable. HappyLee is rolling over in his grave at the thought of no more crazy koopa setups in SMB. However, this definitely does deserve to be linked from the published movie, along with an explanation of how and why it's faster. Ultimately, though, I just know that they must be pronouncing "World" and "Time" in pretentious British accents, and I can't stand for that. I want my runs in American English only please.

Where is Baxter? I'd like to see his comments on this movie.

I vote yes to Swordless Link's run. Those boss fights were so much cleaner. Really though, the game needs to be published because of the music.

This run was very entertaining, and the gameplay was probably on par with the currently published first quest run. I saw a couple things that made me wonder if they could be done differently, but I'll assume they weren't for manipulation purposes. I think the route and strategy changes are significant enough to allow this to be published alongside the two existing runs. Yes vote. Another good comparison for this run might be minimalist Contra.

Thank you for starring this and bringing it to my attention. I would have missed out otherwise.

The point of the board is to share information, not to fight or tease. If you're not going to help, then don't post please. Good work whoever is making the TAS, and good luck.
Thanks FODA. :)
So you are making the TAS then? Good to hear you've come around.

Immaturity rears its ugly head in the SM64 thread yet again. Just move on guys; nobody here cares that much about a single frame outside of your "team." It will probably be obsoleted by another second within a year or two anyway, so there's no point in everything being absolutely perfect, assuming there's even a frame available here. Just do the best job you can, and everyone will love to see your finished product.

You guys should team up to keep the momentum going. I really don't want to see this game be neglected again. This has to be the game with the most potential without a run on the site.

I'm perfectly fine with April Fool's jokes that change the content, but man is the site slow right now, and the logout bug seems to be more prevalent. I hope the site's speed is just due to the interest in the site closure and not some underlying changes in the hardware because that would be a terrible joke.

How often are hyperspeed wall kicks useful anyway? Just don't use them to skip any of the star doors; it's not that complicated. I agree with Derakon in that you don't need to find exceptions to whatever rule you're using to get 70 stars; if you make a 70-star run, preferably without BLJ, it will be accepted, and people will be happy.

I don't know how plausible this is, but if someone could make a version of the .AVI or .MKV with subtitles explaining a lot of the glitches, it seems like it would be greatly appreciated. Heck, I'd even write the subtitles with the relevant times they should be displayed if someone else would put the video together.
