I always use VLC and wouldn't have known there were subtitles until they were mentioned in this topic.

That was an awesome WIP Nitrodon. Something like that definitely belongs on this site.

Just because you don't use any bombs during battles doesn't mean you can't. If the glitch doesn't work though, then the point is moot.

I'm more curious to know if that trick could speed up any of the boss fights or smaller battles in either game. I don't think you know until you try.

I used v11, which works fine and might be easier to find.

Yes, they have to be from the actual game, not an emulator, but I don't think a camera is an acceptable recording method except perhaps in extremely rare cases.

As long as the center tile of a square remains (or the main tile, which you would bulldoze and which flashes the lighning bolt), a developed zone retains its population forever.

I was thinking of something like this when the fairy fountain warp was discovered, but I think I just assumed you didn't think it was worthwhile. It also seems possible to me that having the Zora Mask earlier could save time and bombchus, but I don't know if it would be useful anywhere.

If someone has time, I would appreciate an encode of the WIP (as would other people I imagine). Thanks.

I'd like to see a run of this, maybe just fastest to megalopolis, but it would probably be kind of lame if the money trick was used.

The trip from Kakariko to Lake Hylia was by far the best part. Of course, that's the part that wasn't possible until the last month or two. Well done.

I've never seen him. How can I get him to show up? I'm using XP Media Center and IE 7.

I think you should restart only because you've been making progress pretty rapidly. If you think there's a significant enough savings available (more than just a couple frames), you should restart because you seem to have the motivation to do it. I bet you'll still finish by the end of January anyway, while some people take years to make one TAS.

I think it would be a testament to tool-assisted power if you can make it all the way to and then defeat Smithy using only Mario in SMRPG.
I don't think that's possible. You need to pick up other characters as part of the story, they are automatically added to your party, and any dead characters are automatically resurrected for the next battle. Even just defending with the other characters every time does not achieve the same effect.

I don't really understand how that could be faster without the zora's mask, you know unless if somehow the scene that you got the mask is longer than the fight you just did. Question: Would you be able to use that arrow + bottle dive to get the zora eggs in both the pirates fortress and the eel pit?
If we skipped the Zora Mask, then we would likely be skipping the song, and there would no longer be any use for the eggs.

Nice to see people commenting on my run :D. I listened to MiraiGen's and it was interesting to hear comments from somebody as they watched the run and to hear what they think. What could have made it more enjoyable from my perspective is somebody that has a bit more OoT experience, so that they can pay closer attention and point out more detailed things throughout the run. I felt like it was somewhat dead for most of the commentary but it wasn't too bad overall. I guess as the TASer it's more enjoyable to hear mostly comments on the actual tricks/glitches rather than mostly humor. I'm currently downloading Comicalflop's, can't wait to see how it goes. I've actually considered doing the commentary that Swordless Link mentioned on the earlier page. The idea he brought up was that I made a commentary on the run that talked about the circumstances of each certain part of the run, what was considered where, how things were manipulated, why were things done, etc.. It'd be a test of myself to see what details I can fit in throughout the commentary, and I'm guessing it'd be interesting to a number of experienced OoT players. Nevertheless, it was just an idea, so I may/not do it, probably depending on what people think.
I vote for that option.

Is the third cycle absolutely necessary? I think the reason behind it was for the Ranch timing, but perhaps things could be rearranged enough at this point so that you could get to the Ranch at the required time. I don't know how realistic that suggestion is at all or if there is any chance it would save time.

The best commentary would be one from Bloobiebla himself, detailing the stuff that only the TASer would know.
That is not a bad idea of course. I think the second best option is to have someone who is relatively unfamiliar with the game and especially new discoveries in it do a commentary, as that is part of what made JXQ's commentary great. I can't speak for everyone, but I don't find some random knowledgeable Zelda person commenting on the run all that interesting because they're probably not going to tell me much more than I already know. I think it's more interesting to get reactions from people outside of the Zelda speedrunning community.

Thank you for making it horizontal rather than vertical. That is nearly perfect now. Could you keep the voting open on the forums for published movies and gruefood? You could then link the ratings to the site ratings. I don't know if this is possible or realistic; I'm just offering a suggestion.

I would like to see a box with no whiskers. I think the first and third quartiles show the useful deviation information that can illuminate controversy and spark discussion, but the minimum and maximum would just start arguments.

Silent Slayers, I wish more posters had your attitude. zOMG seems to come off bitter in every post, even if unintentionally, and I can easily see how he could have offended Swordless Link or anyone else. On the other hand, I also find it interesting that the part where this submission chooses to hide Mario behind the wall was the area where the most interesting and aesthetic improvement was made in the current publication. I wonder if this was intentional, and I'm thinking there could have been a better part to choose this kind of camera view than in that part with intense action. Perhaps there wasn't, and it won't hurt to have it in a published submission for a while. It will get replaced in a few months anyway.

also falling into the fire against bowser #2 might be something that other people do not care about but it looked ugly to me
This was required. [22:12] <mr_roberts_z> The position after he comes up makes Mario grab Bowser's tail closer to the bomb, so there's less distance Bowser has to fly.
It's obviously not neccesary to fall into the lava to get into the right position for that sideflip dive, and it's possible to grab Bowser equally close to the bomb with other methods for diving into the tail as well. As for the run, poor camera angle choices. However, there were some nice improvements to make it a somewhat worthy submission.
It doesn't seem appropriate to include this word here.

I enjoyed this run more than the published run. The time the other run wastes by doing pointless combos is not offset by the entertainment value of these combos. Also, the minigames are not especially interesting, particularly for Yoshi.
