Hmm.. Clean SRAM generate by the movie. This is new territory and I'm at university atm so I can't research very well on mobile. I'll just fool around with dolphin tonight. Its like finish game, and then load the save file and start from reboot?

Yes. As I said, it's to make sure that the SRAM is completely legit and safe.
Dang... Alright. Actually not so bad. Gamefaqs just says I have to beat the game to unlock hidden mansion. So is it still a good verification if I glitch to king boo and finish?

It's a movie file that generates the SRAM (savefile) needed to playback a TAS starting from that same savefile. It's to prove that the SRAM is legit, and it wasn't made with cheat codes or anything.

I'm going to start over using Hidden Mansion savefile I found if I can. hopefully getting the ghosts way faster and one cycling will make things interesting.
In that case, you need a verification movie file.
Hmm what's that?

I think that it might be possible to one cycle... How long did anyone try to do that?
Didn't take me long to get Chauncey from 78 to 33. Just had to get the rhythm down of holding directions for like five HP count then unhold for one frame then hold again. I will try again Friday when I have time. I think its totally possible to one cycle in normal, very insanely rare. But could happen.(pretty sure if I had hidden mansion, one cycle would be a breeze) And TASeditor, if you know how to make it more entertaining lemme know! I think the whole shit isn't entertaining when its not glitch crazy. And even the glitch part is like 20secs tops.
I think getting closer to the attacks would make it more interesting.
True I could get closer to horses and the baby bouncing(i was going for Tracking the baby while it bounced with luigi's camera), I got close to the blue mouse in the hallway haha :P The bouncing balls arent a threat since I stand where they despawn. Only interesting things Luigi can do is call out to Mario, flick his flashlight. You can walk backwards but thats really slow. I'm going to start over using Hidden Mansion savefile I found if I can. hopefully getting the ghosts way faster and one cycling will make things interesting.

Funny enough, Mario Calling can change if a ceiling ghost will be in the next room or not. I only tested it right after Chauncey, but I called Mario in between the glitch room and the room to the right that you move luigi into. As soon as camera panned, Ceiling ghost. When you don't call mario, ceiling ghost isnt there :P So i'll time my mario calling where I can. Figured out you can grab the bouncing ball when you're under chauncey, it's probably really hard to do in a Non-TAS, i think it took me only like 50-100 rerecords per bouncing ball. Link to video

Been trying to figure out a way to fight Chauncey. Still trying to get the timing for the bouncing ball. Also Ive been able to get Chauncey into a corner which makes vacuuming tons faster. Watching the WR luigi video shows the bouncing ball strat. But tested chauncey vacuuming doing the trick i've been doing with all the other ghosts (every other frame directioning) but Chauncey is too powerful and breaks the chain if not always holding down directions. so it'll be all luck and many loadstates to get chauncey into the corner twice.

lol are these jokes? I have two areas I do light flickering :P I always forget about calling out for mario :) ill throw some in when I finish the entire run. shouldnt be hard to figure out spots in the hexedit to just change to add in the 'pressed A button' address haha. Im making a little video right now, as much as entertainment goes I have tried to keep things in such as, double ghosts taps during training mode (instead of reloading to get only single ghost spawns) light flickering every other frame dodging the blue mouse in the hallway by a hair and my newest one - firing off Chauncey's ball three times at its head(only hits once, other two times it just bounces through) Link to video

List for fixes to do that I know of (and will fix when there is a way to look at frames more closely in an editor) 1.Few frames on last set of ghosts during tutorial 2.Parlor Room - 164 frames (atm like 206 frames) 3.Wardrobe Room - 1-5 frames walking to first wardrobe close Quick question to my smarties out there.. For the DTM file, how easy is it to stitch together dtm parts.. Like if I redid parlor room will it align with the next room? How do you read frames or VI in dtm? Is it just 0x0100 is frame 1 and 0110 is number 2? Edit: figured out why even though my vacuuming for most ghosts is every other frame advance, why there would be differences in capturing time. even once the ghost gets to 0 HP, Luigi needs to swivel the vacuum in a way that makes the ghost animation faster. No idea the correct way precisely. but each time i get a ghost to 0 from now, I savestate and then do trial and error.

You can also compare with this WIP of Wakssbm. It seems to me that in the first room he blows out candle more quickly the candles than you, it is can be just an impression... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMU3l6Hj38M
aww boo.. sigh.. yeah I figured after finally switching to using the tas input to do pathing I would have some fuck ups(which is everything before first pair of ghosts in Wardrobe room. Staircases look fine, but i do need to speed up candles( Parlor room will have to be redone completely I think since I counted a 59 frame gap on Premiere Pro between my candle cutscene and their candle cutscene) and pathing from door to wardrobe ghost. edit: getting closer im at 170 frames for candles out (164 is Wakssbm's [Fastest]) Wow.. Now I can't get anywhere close to that. Dam tornado vacuum

Fixed wardrobe room with Flip's notice of being able to push the green guys closer. Also started using TAS input to do patching from door to door so I can get super good angles that'll save a frame here and there. Skip the first like four minutes. Nothing in the intro has changed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dijDujr4LGI

But that'll require new game+ and a verification file, so might as well make an any% from a blank memory card and use the savefile from the any% TAS for 100% Hidden mansion.
Yeah that's what I figured I'd do for 100% but I was just talking about any comparisons between my run and speedrunners. they are going to look faster than my run at some points, hopefully my glitch areas might be a little bit better than theirs haha. Was a bit bored from TASing so I did some practice with the glitch area. I was able to get down towards King Boo's entrance without having to which to standard and pause. Apologies for no audio and speed being weird. Dolphin doesn't like to be started in the middle it seems. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VuqxzrN1k8o

thanks to the agdq video and veman3000(very nice besides not hitting the last orange ghost in Wardrobe![3-4 second gain]), I was able to speed up Anteroom. Picture is right after the first pair of ghosts in wardrobe room. http://i.imgur.com/DccbUmU.jpg Left side is faster speed. Right side is older version Before I was assuming that getting close to the door on the last pair would help me get through the door faster and get the ghosts closer. But just getting the ghosts closer faster makes it faster to capture then run for the door (extra bonus if you can walk towards the door while vacuuming). One thing that's not the same if you guys watch the twitch streams is that with everyone doing Hidden Mansion, it is way easier to suck up ghosts and move at the same time. Regular mode it is very hard to try to move around with ghosts because if you hold down directional keys, there is a chance you stop taking their hp away for a frame or more.

I'm only talking about the TAS input plugin. So when you go back to make adjustments its still at left stick 71 up, 26 left on frame 300. Then frame 301, the plugin is at the old settings but has a button for you to switch to previous frames control or reset controller altogetber I understand the movie file saves the input but maybe I just haven't watched a playback with the input plugin up.. Hmm I might Have been a bit slow last night

I thought it would be interesting if the TAS Input controller could save the position of the controller frame by frame. so when you reload a savestate, you could make slight adjustments per frame rather than having to memorize each position for each frame. I guess each emulator would just parse the data from save files maybe? then when it gets to new frame the TAS input could stay on position or press reset controller to reset the controllers position. I really hope this isnt already implemented and I have just spaced out on seeing it ) edit I realized NES/SNES have editors (ya?) that show frames and inputs. I was thinking more along the lines for 3d platforms.

what category would mine be put into you think? Since everyone who runs it is doing newgame+ (hidden mansion) glitched%. I may do both anyways haha.. once I get a 100% complete file to access hidden mansion
um....any%? Also, if hidden mansion is going to be TASes, please make it a 100% run so that the differences between the 2 modes would be noticeable.
Alright, maybe if people like how the any% turns out I may be persuaded into a 100% run :)

Thanks flip p I wasn't really worrying about actual names yet. I know my nicknames could make it confusing to others. Also thanks for the video! I didn't know agdq did Luigi this year and that you could push the green ghosts. I'll go back and try to fix that room and edit it in(somehow heh). The runner in that video did an amazing job! Shows I need to definitely get a better feel for the Luigi tilting glitch!

So the first room didn't have to be fully redone, so I continued onto what I call the Green Room which has the first green ghosts (40HP), it's all doubles so it took some time to figure out where to stand to get them to come together correctly. First mini boss, you dont even need to use the flashlight. there is a few frames where I am not vacuuming correctly because of trying to get Luigi to start moving in the right direction to be close to the Key.
