I think it's a habit for some people when they go to forums to go to the Introduction section and say hello to everyone. I always found it as a way to get my post count up (when I was a kid looking to get imaginary points in everything), nowadays its meh.

alright, I finally figured out better ghost capturing. it's tedious work.. 1. you can switch to your vacuum sooner than the ghost counter shows up. 2. pulling opposite direction is obvious, but when the number starts to go down - pressing the direction on every other frame will make the counter go down quickly. Example: Ghost (20 health) Start vacuum health immediately goes down to 19 Now you start your direction pulling (Down button one frame, blank one frame) there is a slight break where the counter doesnt go down. then (18 health) blank frame 17 health blank frame etc. So ghost capturing will only take 36 frames for 18 health to 0 health. I have yet to try holding for two frames and one blank. but Im pretty sure this is the best that it gets. EDIT: here is a video on ghost capturing optimized. The pathing around the room is the areas you need to cross over for ghosts to spawn. Link to video When I finished this room, I realized I did not redo the first room :| So does anyone know how to stitch together frames from one and place in another file?

Link to video Did the first room, not very many rerecords on it, mostly just trying to figure out how to get ghosts to appear. Seems like moving around where they should spawn, flickering flashlight, and walking away works best. It may be more efficient I think to be the minimum distance away from a ghost so you don't get spooked.. edit: looking back at my old video, I actually did better on my first run through with flashlight and ghost capturing, my second time around I did better on vacuuming the candles and pathing to locations.

(J Version) EDIT: A little update during some practice today, It seems very possible to only have to do ONE skew instead of doing TWO skews to get into King Boo's area. If you can hold your skew from the first time while walking down the hallway to the second you can pass over the beam and fall into the place before King Boos hideout. I need to keep testing with better skews but at the moment I have only had one skew that got me in, but it landed me in bounds instead of out. Progress though!

In classroom, you want my Japanese or USA version? Are you testing king boo crown theft? If so I only have that save state for japanese atm.

for health, you can just do unknown initial searching and keep searching for a decreased value. I found health, but I think it would take someone with serious debugging skills to figure out the calculation( or addresses ) you are looking for.

Ugggh!! I know haha its so hard to recreate.. I'm gonna hold off on the rest of the tas so I can see if its possible on USA version.. Firecrotch shows unbuffered on Japanese, but his live streams are on USA. I don't know what unbuffered means though.. Is that pausing? I'll get to king boo early on USA tomorrow and upload those save states too. So anyone else can try too with both Japanese and USA. Only thing I know so far is king boo will bounce up and down if you're not vacuuming. But when firecrotch does it he starts vacuuming whenever and then somehow pulls boo closer to the ground. One thing he did say is that you have to take damage before getting close to crown, so bowser fire or the spike bombs are the best while dodging bowsers ice ball. Getting hit by king boo knocks you around, I'm not sure if that's the best way to take damage. So really its take damage, get boo close to ground, get inside grounded boo, reappear from damage effect(grab crown). And firecrotch says its not that hard -__-

I was just wondering if there was a way to have it always setup through a script or something, it would make corner turning more precise and help so so much on the king boo OoB. And yes co auth haha, wouldn't be torturing myself with frames if I didn't have you helping haha..

I had posted my dropbox of my memory/savestates that you can load right to King Boo if you guys want to try to complete other sections. I know from glitching to King Boo (But not being able to do Crown Glitch), you do get credits to play. I didn't try to complete king boo and then complete the rest of the game, but I can assume you would still have to kill king Boo again just to get hidden mansion unlocked. I don't know the game well enough to do all the ghosts. This would be so helpful for the OoB area if it was possible to have Dolphin do both regular camera and overhead view at 1:00 Link to video

it's quite possible. I just did it again but with USA version. im faster than japanese version and your old usa version up until the text.. somehow you beat me through it everytime. Im pressing A on the first frame possible AND pressing A before some text shows up (which triggers the text)..

ah... so you think ill be able to start a new recording and maybe just hex edit my frame commands in at 0x100? edit Fixed it! Pheenoh's DTM reader 1.2 -> changed memory card present to 'False' and that fixed it )

Whenever I start my recent recording, I get a memory card problem. Luigi's mansion starts up, hits start, then shows memory card to save to. It usually starts up and then shows three files to save to. Do I have to go back and rerecord or ?

He must have edited his tweet, added the "x position" text from the tweet too and made the x pos a between formula ) he will drown if > boss z position < -1701 > and > boss x position is 10 < x < 28

So I went through an any% run trying to recreate all the glitches on the Japanese version. I was able to get to king boo through the Floor 1.5 glitch (very hard to do first time playing). I was NOT able to reproduce the crown glitch on King Boo, I didn't try too many times cause I need to start my homework, but if anyone is interested in my japanese luigi's mansion savestates and memory card file - I'm uploading them right now, I believe Load State 1 is [ During King Boo fight just after hitting bowser's head off ] edit: I know it can be done on Japanese version, Im just wondering if the glitch only works in hidden mansion(vacuum is stronger).

Piggybacking question. are TASes usually done all in one file? or somehow stitched together with cumulative rerecords added?

Oh ya I know you don't capture ghosts in training. I was saying ghost capturing for once you get into the mansion with vacuum (which happens after training).

Link to video Started work on luigi's mansion. talked with got4n, i need to go back and fix my first walk up the staircase which either means hex edit to add in one frame delay or go back and redo it all. and in Training, i should have reloaded states to obtain one ghost appearance instead of the two ghosts i get on Training test 2 (out of 4? 1,2,1,4 ghosts.. idk) ghost capturing doesnt feel optimized but i have not played the game very long to know any technique about capturing besides aiming the control stick in the opposite direction ( i dont know if that means opposite position of where luigi is or opposite direction than where the ghost is facing ). Anyways! lots to be done :)
