I mean Banjo isn't even the fastest starting driver. I believe Krunch is. I could be wrong on that though...
if by starting driver you mean not t.t. or drumstick, then you are correct sah! his handling is awful though so it looks like someone else wants to know why banjo was chosen it should be noted however that whenever i saw time trial world records back when the game came out pipsy and tip tup were setting them all i forget why tip tup and pipsy are optimal for time trial and not for the adventure mode though

They only increase speed up to 10 IIRC.
hes right i have one question for the guy who did the movie: any dkr vet knows that pressing "a" early terminates the green boost from a zipper early, what is the amount of time specifically before you can hit "a" after hitting a zipper to maximize the boost?

I get the feeling its pointless to try and build up a boost via the blue baloons since it only makes a small difference, I think it best to always use the first boost thats collected
if this is true, then it is a flaw because you can use the same trick on the boost balloons that you use on the zippers and there is definitely no point therefore in building up the balloons to get a boost that is equivalent to what you can get with one also why banjo? why not a faster racer? and i havent watched it yet but is it possible to unlock drumstick then reset, choose him, and continue? or does that bust up tas rules somewhere to do anything but a soft reset ive beaten dkr several times and would love to see the tas, but this sounds unoptimized

The DS port doesn't look like it will be finished anytime soon. Last I saw, the author released a "demo" with only a few maps ported. One can scroll the maps, but cannot play on them. There are no characters, enemies, items.
The current demo has everything but guns in and working. http://community.livejournal.com/doukutsu/92406.html
yeah i thought it was nearing completion this is all exciting to hear the run will probably also be interesting to see what sidequests and optional items will give a positive time boost to compensate for the time it takes to acquire them (i.e. nemesis, spur, snake, etc.) although i am pretty sure the bubble would definitely be a weapon youd only acquire to create the snake since it was seemingly useless my first time through and only makes the time to swap through weapons longer i would think the nemesis would be a definite weapon to grab since it would be invaluable in saving time for the two parts of the game where your weapons drop to level 1; also it would be very much not out of the way since the little man is in the graveyard where you have to go to get the mushroom anyway but the little people family is slightly out of the way; also, i have read the level 2 sword has the largest damage per second in the game and you do have to trade it for the nemesis i am really interested in seeing the different strategies and which is optimal
Post subject: so ive been wondering if doukutsu will be tas'ed one day

doukutsu monogatari was supposedly ported by a third party to gameboy ds (non commercially) and soon to psp (commercially) although the days of tas'ing ds are probably not soon upon us, would doing a tas of doukutsu, which would of course be very, very, very exciting to see (and im sure everyone would love to see the japanese hell speedrun record smashed in a tas even though the competitions were so fierce it seems like it was perfect even by tas standards), be "legal" considering the rules of what can and cant be tas'ed? and wouldnt providing a link to the game itself on a submission thread be legal since the game was free and the ds port is non commercial? oh but wait, the port was done of the version 1.0.0.6 of the game with the 1.01 translation patch by agtp, and the rules state no fan translations so you can see why i ask since this is confusing based on the listed rules, but i hope to see it one day and a tas competition occur over it

giving up the obligatory yes although:
I amended some mistakes, and killed enemy quickly.
kind of vague for such a good improvement, kind of curious if you can mean anything more specific than that

i think what he actually is referring to is glover's magnetic upward propulsion of something like 5 teslas magically whenever he is holding the ball i also thought i saw a few minor things unoptimized, the only two major things being the first boss and something else i forget from back then anyway it was entertaining, thanks for making it

8 posts = vote i lurked for over 3 years before registering because it seems like there were too many people here as "nice" as you what is the point of watching a speedrun if you cant hear anything? last i checked, sound has nothing to do with a time attack (if i wanted to nitpick that you used the word speedrun i could have) since it is visual precision, not some composer

i guess i never mentioned, but i was the 5th vote yes here are a couple easy solutions for the 2 problems 1. annoying music clashes? find the volume selector 2. cant follow all 4 at once? improve visual analyzation and processing skills with more first person shooters

on the one hand, i dont understand the point of this on the other hand, super mario 64 runs are, as the above dude said, the most entertaining on this site

i dont know why but the mmx1&2 run was one of the top 5 in my opinion on this site in terms of entertainment so mathematically this is 2x that so it will be twice as entertaining at first i thought "what about mm2" so good foresight on explaining why

No, it is partially your fault. Turbo-Aing to the point that an entire channel of music is gone, as well as using a character that changes the theme to one song for 50% of the game, greatly reduces my enjoyment of the run. Sorry.
in my years of watching tas'es, this is by far the funniest reason to not vote yes ive ever seen

No, you can definitely steal twice. I just successfully stole both the shovel and the bow. For each item stolen, you die upon reentering the shop.
never beat dx, only beat original several times interesting change in versions used to have the game guide for the original, maybe still do, and it said in there you could only steal once

Why didn't you just steal the shovel? It takes only 11 seconds for the shopkeeper to kill you, which I'm almost certain is shorter than the time it took you to make all those diversions for rupees.

why hello there i have been watching these entertaining videos since around tas #60ish several times before i thought i saw something that would make me want to actually do a post, but not until now as i recall, a month ago when i finished glover for the 5th or so time, i had the thought it would be a great game to see tas'ed i am glad my thoughts are psychic a pox on the non-yes votes! that is all, and thanks for doing it
