Nothing really to report yet, but I have fixed up the errors I said I would. I was going to release a fix, but adelikat gave me a really good idea for handling the splicer. Drag-and-drop functionality, and no more being limited to only two movies. It's not 100% done yet, but just figured I'd show everyone I'm still working on this ;)
Cool, I really like this idea, though I think you could add a few nicer GUI touches to it. I was thinking along the lines of a movie timeline, where you can drag and drop the various movies into the splicer, and drag them into place. That way, it would be possible to introduce say 500 frames of no input before the next portion or the movie starts to play. That way, it would also be easier to insert a movie within an already existing movie. And just make sure you remember to put some checks in place to make sure that only movies of the same format can be loaded onto the timeline, which I assume you know but just have not been implemented into the demo. PS: It's real nice to see my run in the screenshot... SWEET!!! haha

That's a very intimidating training regime Xebra... and you sound like you can really run, I mean are you really going to run 33mi on the 7/9? That's like further than a standard marathon! :S I can never run long distances, it just bores me whenever I try to run for more than 7 laps around a 400m track... not that I can run very fast anyway (approx 1:55 a lap if I really try going all out). Anyway, good luck man, I wish you all the best in your training as well as for the race. 125km in 24 hours would really be a great achievement in one's life :)

I can't see this happening in reality... I mean come on, how do you emulate 2 separate games which run on 2 separate consoles with 2 different ways of reading movie inputs. I mean, are you gonna invent a new emulator with a new ".gmvandfcm" movie format just for such a run? Overkill on the setup and I doubt running through 2 different ports of the same game is really interesting, especially since they are essentially the same to begin with. Edit: Do I have to duplicate this post onto both threads? :S

Just curious, at around frame 2560, you didn't try to launch off the car to clear the spikes without the damage knock back... any reason why? In fact, i managed to redo that portion to save 12 frames... Hmmm... will watch on first... comment some more later Edit: Note my demo picks off from the last step before the car, and is not fully optimized. Probably can save another 5 frames off it? In stage 2, I can't really understand why you do not jump clear of the cat in the trash can at times, although you did demonstrate it's actually possible... In stage 4, jumping between ledges don't seem optimised, well some of them at least. I am not sure if this is an overlook or whether the game mechanics prevents it, but note that by barely clearing a jump, you get to hit the ground faster which means you can execute the next move faster too. In other words, it's not very wise to hold A longer than necessary... Hmmm, many things don't seem optimized, though the general route seems good. I reckon better playing can save maybe 5 seconds? Voting meh for this version, but please try to make another improvement to this...

2 things... Firstly, change your avatar, or resize/resample it. It's against the rules to have such dimensions on your avatar Secondly, use TAS Movie Editor for the job. As long as you know what to copy from the new movie, and until where to replace it, the editor should have all the tools to make it easy enough.

My main problem with millisecond count is that with so much rounding involved, it's much harder to calculate the residual frame count (and the actual number of frames can only be viewed by loading the movie in the emulator, just like that).
Hmmm, we could just ask Bisqwit to include that field... I remember the old version of the submission page had it, but seems like it has been replaced completely with the minutes and seconds. I would prefer both to be displayed together

Nu-uh. Frames are indivisible, and you can't divide 60 by 100 evenly; hence all the numbers are rounded, which essentially makes them less precise.
Eh, I think you misunderstood Mukki, from what I read, it sounds like he is saying that frames are more precise, but would lead to confusion... I personally feel that 1/100th seconds are a better choice. True frames are more precise and would not require rounding off, but then that wouldn't compromise the ability of the viewer to discern between which runs are faster than which (that is if anomalis like the SMB1 don't appear). And what if certain games do not playback at 60fps? I know that Prince of Persia doesn't, and I believe some N64 games do not as well. Would the 60 frames measure be accurate still? I doubt so...

Yea, how did that happen? Unfortunately it lists movie length in minutes and seconds, no frames... I wonder what happened there.
moozooh wrote:
In addition to that, the practical reason of having frame counter with a scale of .0—.99 instead of more precise and realistic .0—.59 is beyond me.
It may be true, but that would lead to much confusion too, since it frames isn't a standard unit of measure, so it may be confused as milliseconds...

Since when was it implemented? I just noticed that all movie times have also become more precise to 1/100th of a second which is good :) I don't quite like the vertical layout of the submission details though; it elongates the page unnecessarily... Is this Bisqwit's Christmas present to all of us?? EDIT: Well maybe this layout isn't as bad as I had thought, at least the download link is near the top which is convenient

Actually upon closer reading, I realised that 'Endless Scream' isn't quite an improved version of 'Howl from Beyond'; The former is an enchant whereas the latter is an instant. This in a way justifies why 'Howl of Beyond' only lasts for a single turn, so I see no case of it being buffed in 'Endless Scream' at all

Could we also introduce an 'Unglued VG Edition'? For example: Bob-Omb (0/1) 1R Creature - Bomb Bob-Omb comes into play tabbed. T: Set the Bob-Omb card on fire and toss it into opponents playing field. All cards that catches fire together with Bob-Omb will be permanently removed from the game. LOL EDIT: Corrected spelling error

This is the first Wario Land 4 run I have seen and I must say I like what you have done. The run was fluid all through and planning for stages is good. Just curious, but you seem to pick up objects and throw them for no apparent reason... is it because it does not slow Wario down anyway, or is there is like unseen effect of doing so? If not, shouldn't those be done away in the run? Holding my YES vote till I am answered... but I have to say it's still very YES from me :)

I was thinking, how about these boss cards being able to be played as creatures, or as enchantments on Megaman. If played as an enchantment, Megaman gains +S/+T, where S and T are the strength and toughness of the boss respectively, and also all the bonus attribs on the boss already. Boss enchantments do not stack, and has to be removed after 2 untap phases. This way, though boss enchants will overpower Megaman momentarily, it wears off pretty fast too for the mana cost, which balances out quite well

How about Mushroom and Flower enchantments to be used on plumbers: Mushroom 2G Enchantment Target creature must be a plumber. When target is sent to the graveyard, remove the enchantment and put it back into play. Flower 2R Enchantment Target creature must already be enchanted with "Mushroom" Target Creature gains +3/+0 and (whatever is that term which allows a monster to attack without getting hurt).

I realised that there is neither a Sonic the Hedgehog card nor a Miles "Tails" Prower card. Sonic (2/2) 3GG Creature Hedgehog 1: Attach 10 ring counters to Sonic. When Sonic has 50 or more ring counters, Sonic gains +2/+2 for 2 turns, after which all ring counters are removed. If Sonic is attacked, remove all ring counters. Sonic cannot be sent to the graveyard if there are ring counters on it. Tails (2/2) 3GG Creature Fox? Flying Tap + 3: Target creature gains flying If Sonic the Hedgehog is in play and Tails is sent to the graveyard, return Tails to the deck and shuffle What do you think?
