Maybe playing no normal difficulty is really a good idea. Whats the difference besides boss HP? EDIT: Your normal mode wip look sooo much better than hard... you miss some opportunies to jump in hard movie and miss too much even with grenades.

I believe in this movie it's caused by the jum where i missed platform and jumped again (I noticed this mistake only when whole first level was done, and have not fixed it yet...). I think tank appears, clears script option that tank should appear there, then disappears when I fall, and never appears after all.

few notes I made during my attempt at it ) ...jumping is faster than running... ...you should aim at heli, avoid shooting its bombs... ...tank's bombs are STRONG, so additional supply wouldn't hurt~ Here's my test run of 1 level (few mistakes here and there), It's shorter (and tank at the end of vertical level mistycally vanished :D )... http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/4640/1755%20-%20Metal%20Slug%20Advance%20%28U%29.vbm

It's NOT a DS game. it's GB game for sure. I have it for a long time. It's not a pokemon game really. Uses popular name though, and somewhat similar. not Game Freak-related. I asked once on IRC if it's a hack, and if it is then what game it originally was. Silence was the answer )

maybe there should be not average of all runs, but average of best 5 runs? or lates runs to be more precise and show player's current state?.. another lame idea: 2+ published runs on same series with good rating: series expert (Megaman expert, Mario expert, Sonic expert) 5+published runs with good rating or 2+series expert : TAS expert 10+ published runs : TAS veteran (as being a veteran does not reflect quality anyways)

I would like to second Tyrian, Crusader, Worms and Little Big Adventure, remind of Fury of the furries and suggest Raptor, Bumpy (Okay, any console version will do in fact), Zorro (think Prince of Persia), Vinyl goddess from mars, UGH!, Humans, maybe Archon Ultra, Cannon Fodder, some really artistic run of Origamo, Who Framed Roger Rabbit (both hands for that one)... Well, enough )) (Just took a look at list of games on "Best 200 games of past century" CD)

F1 = load state 1 F2 = save state 1 1 = load state 5 2 = save state 5 3 = rewind (if supported) 4 = pause 5 = frame advance shift+Fx = save state x Fx (where x >2) load state X. state 2 is a hard backup =) on joypad (only used it with VBA, so X, O, R1, L1 are used by controls) L2 = pause R2 = frame advance / speedup (depends on mode, see later) square = rewind + frame advance / rewind Triangle is special button triangle+R2 = change mode (viewing / recording) triangle+square = load state 5 triangle+circle = save state 5

What ages would there be? I am not so familiar with history, so, I can't do it better then this: Prehistoric Era (Doom Era)- Doom TASes Famtasia Era - NES runs with slowdowns, starts from famous SMB3 run Frame Advance Era - FCEU, Snes9x, GENS, VBA, M64 rerecording emulators show up And Upcoming Era - DS, PSX, DOS, MAME... I would like to know at least order in which available emulators first offered rerecording `^^

I think it'd be much easier to TAS this game on an Amiga emulator, since:
I did not know anything about Amiga emulation, But this idea is not any worse... But rerecording dosbox is the thing we have at hand already, and I don't have amiga version of furries =(

I am just not familiar with it... I tried to compile it, put SDL.dll to a $PATHed directory, but ./configure looks for sdl_config that is not available with compiled version... even though building guide says it should work :(

I just remembered there was a really good game to TAS... FURY OF THE FURRIES! It's something like The Lost Vikings, but a lot funnier and faster) You control one fluffy ball that sometimes gets ability to change to one of four colors: Yellow furry can fire fireballs and defeat enemies (easily avoidable in tas) Green Furry is the best one, it has Ninja rope (like in worms, but once again faster) Red furry can eat blocks on the way Blue one can swim I hope it will work with rerecording *___*

In fact I prefer this way, using command line tools. Using file manager makes it nice and fast I just have ecoder and encoder in my movie folder. Ctrl+enter adds filename under cursor to command line. having file doceded once i can fix things that i dislike and then encode it. when it's done, both encoding and decoding commands are in command line history. It's the way I hexedit VBM. I don't use any other editors )
