This was never an issue until now as you have officially created the largest submission just from gifs. Learn to both crop & compress your gifs. Cause you have 83 gifs and all/most are above 1mb. Using the first gif you've provided as an example. 1.26MB -> Cropped 290x203 -> 1.21MB -> Optimized (35) -> 713.78kb 1.26MB -> Cropped 290x203 -> 1.21MB -> Optimized (70) -> 601.07kb Image is still relatively fine at 70 since this is a 2D game so I'll go 90 and 100 this time. 1.26MB -> Cropped 290x203 -> 1.21MB -> Optimized (90) -> 558.2kb 1.26MB -> Cropped 290x203 -> 1.21MB -> Optimized (100) -> 543.94kb Without trying much I was able to get well below half the size of what you provided with only a tiny sacrifice in the quality of the gifs. And for hypothetical reasonings let's just say everything is 1.3MB so we get 107.9MB and we get them all down to 550kb. Wow look at that a hypothetical 45.65mb... Jesus this would still be the largest submission just from the amount of gifs... I'd probably look into a bit more cropping like the hud out and a justifiable amount from the bottom just to slim it down. Extra Note: WE DON'T NEED *83 GIFS ON MOVEMENT AND ATTACKING HOLY HELL. Cause that's what all 83 gifs are unneeded/unwanted garbage that fills up the void. *It's technically 82 as you have 2 items as gifs and one png that should be a gif.

No you don't. This is the one that has the most gifs. Second place went to your Castlevania 64 TAS which I later converted all the gifs to not be 2MB and instead got it under 1MB. --- Now let's change gears. Version preference.

Second, I can understand that you dislike this PAL version for this reason , but it's just an artistic choice to entertain with music.
That's a poor justification for using PAL. I'll give you an example of a good justification. The Crash Bandicoot 2 TAS that went by used the PAL version as Crash is actually able to move faster due to the lower framerate (and what Naughty Dog did to the code) giving him an advantage over NTSC. Crash 2 is the only Crash game where the justification of using PAL is given due to the movement advantage. The previous title and the third game in the title use NTSC as PAL's advantage in speed is nullified to what NTSC has (and the fact that NTSC-J actually shortens a level for the first game.) Give a proper justification over using the PAL version instead of saying "music is better", cause that's not a reason, that's just a lazy excuse for using the what could be the wrong version used.
"LAZY" I would to know your definition of this word and know, if you believe that I'm your friend for use that!? I think, that I have always work seriously and without laziness. If I'm a lazy boy, so why i doing so much searches and lose my time to explain. It's true I should maybe summary this in 3 lines, like it, you will have less work for editing! It was sufficient just to say me, "hey, this is too much, please, reduce your text and delete all .gif, else, I go must to editing that during a long hours". Especially as it no rules to forbidden that submission style. You don't respect my work, when you doing this! You are an disrespectful man and I say this in a general case, because it's very easy to belittle other people with your knowledges because you believe be the best. And don't say me the opposite... because it have to view with what arrogantly, you answered at this post, you will can summary it in 3 lines, but you have prefer to show who is Spikestuff. Like it's your habit, I should surely forgot that... But surely not. 90% of your commentaries are disrespectful, harmful and free... With this comportment genre, you force a lot of people to flee TASvideos! It's like to verify the number of .gif...You haven't other things to make, that to render this ridiculous? Because, I think that all people had understand, that I say all simply, that I have often submit a long texts with .png and .gif and no one advice me to stop this! I don't making of TASing for to hear that I'm lazy and to be judging by you, who are not a judge! I will make always TASing, but not on TASvideos where you have an amazing privilege, so don't answer at this thread, because I go directly to do request for close my account.

First, I don't knew that was forbidden to do an submission text with so many .gif to explain. I will like to know where it is explain on TASvideo and what rule warn me of that? I will go to search of that. Sometimes, I have even submit more than it in my old submissions. Second, I can understand that you dislike this PAL version for this reason , but it's just an artistic choice to entertain with music. I believed that TASing was an question of entertaining and to beat the game fast. It haven't a Shinobi's run on SEGA saturn for the moment, I promice you to remake this run in ntsc version this year. For hour, I don't think it's a problem to watching this run and to give your opinion, because I promice you it's the faster PAL run and that I worked for to be entertaining. If for this reason, it's an problem that I submit this run, so maybe that I should cancel it? I defend just my job and I can understand that TASvideos rules reject this run if my job don't respect them. Thank for advice

Probably this timer bug could be useful for get less score during the score screen. Now about the softlock: During the stage clear (before the score screen) by pausing the game on the last frame possible while sonic will be off-screen as possible (you'll unable to control during this path), the sound mutes, the graphics will be glitched, and you'll unable to play the next stage, soflocking this game. I haven't tested this softlock completely.
Excellent discovery... Like you said, it will perfect for the score screen. Good luck to finalize this cool glitches.

Hi, I watched "the darkness" and to be honest I find that long, with too many cinematic and gameplay. I don't know this game and after have watch this, I haven't want to play this, because I have the impression to know too many things to playing this. In same time, I'm sure it's due to these 40 minutes, who for me are too long and because you don't say nothing. I prefer clearly "Luigi's mansion", it's perfect to watch.

I watched "Luigi's Mansion" and this is well realised... It's very good because you tell the history, gameplay and conclusion in only 7 minutes and I think it's a good format for watching and entertain. The joke on poltergust 3000 is excellent! You think make an review on Ninja Gaiden Xbox classic? If you don't make this... this game review format will be bad! lol Ho, and I have an negative feedback for you... I'm french, you will can speak slowly please, because, for me, it's hard to understand all of you tell at some moments (it's a joke).

Not to long ago, I heard that TASing don't requiring skills, that it was dumb and incredible that peoples do that during numerous months just for watch an false speedrun who isn't manage by humans! I don't know what is more stupid... To believe that no one to be manage all tools of emulators and search the best route to beat the game fast, or to believe that the pc doing that alone!

There are two PS1 versions, Japan and US. Only US features higher difficulty, according to this site: http://hg101.kontek.net/smirage/smirage.htm

However, when it was localized into English, there were a number of gameplay changes implemented by Working Designs, the American publisher. Working Designs was known to tinker with gameplay elements, usually to make them more difficult, but they really went overboard with this one. The very essence of the power draining mechanics have changed. Previously, you could use any of the weapons as much as you wanted - now, all weapons drain spirit power as you use them. To make up for this, when you attack enemies with the same class, you'll replenish your own Spirit meter in addition to depleting theirs. This is actually really useful in certain boss battles when your spirit is depleted, since you can just suck the strength back out of them. Additionally, some of the weapons in the Japanese version were pretty unbalanced, and this seems to be a way to keep players from abusing the more powerful attacks. Ultimately, however, the changes do more harm than good. Most of the weapons drain way too much power to be useful. It also pretty much forces you to drain every enemy before killing them, and potentially you can expend more energy than you replenish. It also forces you to use the weakest weapons in most cases, since that usually expends the least amount of Spirit. Quite simply, the game is already complicated enough trying to deal with the different classes - keeping track of ammo conservation just isn't fun. Furthermore, Working Designs upped the difficulty by increasing the damage inflicted by enemies, as well as making all of the items in the shops more expensive. The latter solves nothing - having to stop and cash bash enemies to be able afford upgraded weapons and health replenishments was already somewhat tedious in the Japanese release, but this just makes everything worse.
Also, on tcrf.net is said that the Saturn version has a hidden difficulty option: https://tcrf.net/Silhouette_Mirage_(Sega_Saturn)
This is very interesting... It become difficult to know what versions is a best choice to TASing. I will like to know, if one of you can tell me, if this cheat code on Sega saturn give an other difficulty choice (more hardest) and what are the differences? Because the link said just, that it's possible to change the difficulty, but not if it have a new mode. Thanks at all for all infos, you'r the best.

An idea for a PS1 TAS could be to fight the other extra boss and choose the good ending to see the boss/ending.
Thank you for all informations, you have a good knowledge of this beautiful game. After you say that, I think always that PS1 version can make a great TAS and you have even strengthen this conviction... It have a maximal difficulty and two minutes for find and make entertaining solution on a boss fight... This is a greatest challenge, who will excellent to watch and to create entertainment. This is just my opinion, it's not to destroy your excellent run ;)

Thank for this link. I think that will was great to TASing this game on PS1, because it have more difficulty choice and 2 bosses, who aren't in the saturn version. I say that, just for watch a complete TAS version, this is not a critic for this run.

Thank for the new explanations, who are welcome ;) I think that it's can be optimized a some places, but nothing significant and for this game genre, I find that's correct! I can understand, if some viewers find this not very entertaining or "meh", because it's very long to watch, it have numerous cut-scenes and a lot of CONVERSATIONS arrrgh !!! For cut-scenes that's not a problem, because it's like a visual tale with a great colours! But for conversations, time to read is very short and some of them, are very very long and not interesting, because you have not a time to read... ...In same time, imagine this game genre with no conversations, good luck to finish! I'm glad to had watch this run, who's overall well made with fast fights and good route planing. Voting yes.

Hi, Your run isn't be judged, so it's not published! You can follow the advancement of judgement at the home page of TASvideos (newest submission), click on your time or always at the home page, click on FORUM / WORKBENCH and find your actual submission to discuss with a viewers and more... Else you can click to your nickname and view all informations concerning yourself. Hope that answer well at your ask.

I like this topic... I found all of that : Chakan the forever man (Genesis) : Warrior glitch : to use a weapon that you don't have in your inventory. Teleportation glitch : Use to teleport Chakan at the middle of level in X,Y positions. Magic potion glitch : Create Chakan's sprite bug ( just for the fun). Elevator to hit faster (trick) : use a specific move combined with a hit. Max damage (trick) : Use a specifics moves at a prescise times to kill lava boss easily. And some graphical bugs... Pocket monsters(Genesis) : J.U.T.S glitch : use to jump under the screen. Corner wall glitch : To enter into the walls Golden axe warrior (SMS) : It's open! glitch : Use to force specific enemies with a lot other specific conditions, to drop key. Cristal fast appear (trick) : Like the name indicate ! Golden apple glitch : give the golden apple and don't lose it in your inventory (don't uses in TAS). Build a pit please! glitch : give a dark christal, when you kill the true last boss... When you take it, that create a pit who permit to enter into the wall ! But you are condemned to cannot finish the game! For instant... Haha! DuckTales (GB) : Fast rope glitch : use to continu to move into the loading screens. Touch the hitbox perfectly : use to one shot some bosses, but impossibillity to finish the level. (don't use in TAS for instant) Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness "Cornell" (N64): All jump tricks : explain in the submission text All bosses skips : explain in the submission text Ultra damages : explain in the submission text Slide to Undead fall, glitch: use to don't die with a perfect conditions Oob : OOOOOOOOooooooooobbbbbbb! What else! Trick to beat the griffon boss fast (glitch head cutter). The Flash (SMS) : ST+SS, glitch : use to don't need to re-activate super speed power. Breaking wall, glitch : use to enter into the wall. And recently, some glitches and tricks on Asterix search for dogmatix (GBC), but don't explain those, because the actual runner haven't finish the TAS. And some new glitches on UMK3 (genesis) : Input transfer to AI, in "finish him" and some graphical bug, but this is an other story ! To finish, I join MUGG when he said, to found tricks and glitch, you need a luck, this is more true than you believe! I'll add, that sometime, you find a start of glitch but you should to work on it, to obtain a complete glitch and sometimes it's very long, so be patience! So, LUCK, WORK and PATIENCE. 3 step to find a solutions! Thank to MUGG for this good thread.

I started to watch yesterday, only 1 hour and this was interesting... So I continue to watch it tonight. I'll like to know, if you had doing a research for critical damages? I can see than, when you fight (at ~ 28 min) on the first fight (2 flames), normal damages are at 7, increase at 8 and can increase for hit at 9 and maybe more... I know that it's a poor gain but maybe sometime you can won some fight with 1 hit less ! I had watch only the first part, so maybe that it's not a good method to won faster! Thank to have editing you submission text.

Yeah and Re-record count: 27169 for a long video. So, the problem is, watch 6 tiring hours or watch 6 entertaining hours?! Where is your route planing? Why you go to search a weapon, a power or a travelling companion? I want said, if you want to make want to do watching this long video, why you don't explain more things? Even, if your video's encode have a commentaries ( and I think it's a very good idea ), I think than I prefer read the submission commentaries to know if it's credible to watch. For EX: #5247: Maejin512's PSX Breath of Fire III "Any% Best Ending No Super Combo" in 7:56:57.49 This submission was rejected and before I watch it, I asked the same questions at Maejin! It was a good idea, with a well execution at some moments and good moments to watch, but boring, due to a bad study on this game and very lot long video's time.

What Bhawk version you use and ROM name? Because this game run well on the latest version of this emulator. TASing on Bhawk, on N64, is approximatively the same thing than to others consoles... Your question is not clear, Have you a problem to use a specific tool or setting? These tools are more used than other: "Frame advance" to control frame by frame and find optimal solutions. "Save states" to save. "load states" to load your "save states". "Increase speed" and "decrease speed" don't need explanations, I think! If you want configure all of these, you should go to - config / hotkeys...
