I thought mednafen was one of the most accurate PSX emulators?

Some other questions: 1. Is the disc swap actually implemented for movies or just general for normal play? I guess this is for general since the issues say handling movies across multiple discs but making sure. 2. I know this will never be a thing for normal submission but is there anyway to make the disc combining kits work in BizHawk? This would completely remove the need to disc swap. These kits: http://ngemu.com/threads/disc-combining-kits.118402/ I tried it with one game and the cue file I loaded into BizHawk thought it was a TurboGrafx game. :(

samlaptop, there is nothing inconsistent with what I said and what you thought thethrillness.1 - it works across movies theoretically, but I havent tested it. it doesnt work with savestates, so youll not be able to tas it. chill for a while, maybe days, maybe weeks. thethrillness.2 - theres no reason bizhawk should know or care whether youve combined a disc, if you've done it properly. if you havent done it properly, mis-detection is one possible result. But bizhawk might be have trouble loading a file that's been stressed this way. I'd have to check the specific file. If you're even considering this, then you're way too impatient and need to go sailing or something in the meantime.

That is incredibly vague. How do you want to run it? With Bizhawk, with Mednafen?

That is literally what this whole thread is. Yes you can run psx on bizhawk but only the developer builds, which is the zip file hyperlink on the other page.

It is. For the most part. It's still not fully ready. You will need an SVN Build (as of this post, r8557). The latest Release build (1.9.1) will NOT load PSX games.

Download the latest Bizhawk svn build from here (Linked from the previous Page). If you have a CD image in the form of a .bin and .cue file, open the .cue file. If you have a .ccd file, just open that.

Oh yes, I forgot about that. Kurabupengin, You'll need SCPH1001.bin, the PSX BIOS file. It's copyrighted, so you'll have to google for it. Put that in the \BizHawk\Firmware directory (if it doesn't exist, create it), and you should be good to go.

It worked! Thanks, but I have a question though... If you record a movie does the PSX bios records too? BTW, It is accepted to submit a movie using this builds?

to answer your first question: you can spend 1 minute testing that yourself. to answer your second question: no, it is not accepted to submit a movie using these builds. in fact, any movie you make with these builds has a high chance of being broken in future builds.

Kurabupengin, I can tell you are using an older version. If you have problems, don't forget to note your Revision (r) number under Help, About with bug reports.

Despite having the bios (SCPH1001.bin) in the firmware directory, I had to assign a custom location (and still used that copy) before it'd work. I know it's trivial, but hey. Other than that everything seems to run well. Any chance of the higher res / opengl graphic plugins (like Pete's) running in this? It's not a big deal but I'd love to see some of the 3D games and TASs in crystal clear quality rather than nearest neighbor.
I'm not as active as I once was, but I can be reached here if I should be needed.

there is no chance of any plugins running in this before a time so far in the future that you and I will both be dust. what you call nearest neighbor, i call nearest to exact. It's possible that if you are using a broken firmware, that you'd have to manually set it to make it work. The feedback from the firmware manager is pretty confusing right now, so you might not know thats what happened.

Tested today's build on Windows. Looks good. Sound hasn't been that crackly running Abe's Exoddus. I think Dooty and I should wait till Bizhawk is able to TAS PSX so we can do 100% run of Exoddus on a better quality emulator than PCSX-RR. I notice the pitch goes up and down a bit though. I assume this will be fixed in later builds.

So once Bizhawk 2.0 is released, we will be able to submit PSX movies from Bizhawk?

For my initial post, it looks as though 2.0 will be the time to start TASing PSX. But I would still wait until the devs say its good to go. Hegyak started a bug report listing on the Second Post, so be sure to keep an eye out on that as well as my first post for any new additions/updates

Please note, that when I said 2.0, I may have been wrong. It may be something else, but The Approved Emulator list will have BizHawk listed for PSX TAS runs. Please, try all kinds of games. Let us know what is good/bad.
