This is why we need the 120-star TAS - so more people can see these incredible runs of individual stars, all compiled into one glorious TAS.

I couldn't check my YT subscription box lately, have there been any new records the past 2 weeks?

mind = blown Especially the last star was epic, lol. I agree this could maybe be published as a demonstration and then be obsoleted with longer versions.

I'm a bit confused about the goals of this run, does he simply get all stars possible without A button? Have to say though, that was probably the most entertaining and genious mario run i've ever seen. Awesome to see a truly original vid for once. For publication? Yeah definately for the "Hacks/Demos/Other" category.

Best movie ever, it should be published and obsolete every other movie on this website. Yes, all 1749 of them. Particularly awesome were the wall kick star in CCM, and the moment where Mario stops right on the edge of the pool while collecting the 100 coins / 8 red coins stars in WF.

The work-arounds are very interesting and entertaining. This reminds me of the small only run for Super Mario World. This should be published in its own category, collecting as many stars as possible. *cough*finish the 120 star run :P*cough*

I tried doing that once without the jump button in SM64 DS. Managed to get all the way to the third floor with 61 stars, and was able to glitch in BitS. Unfortunately I couldn't find any way to beat BitS as there's a high cliff or something that I can't scale without jumping.

I agree with Noob Irdoh. Actually, we should just set 'tasvideos.org' to redirect to 'mario64withnoAbuttonvideo.org', which simply has this video embedded and nothing else.

Good idea, but keep the other runs on the site. Just move them to "gruefood"
Current project: Gex 3 any% Paused: Gex 64 any% There are no N64 emulators. Just SM64 emulators with hacky support for all the other games.

That was awesome. During that last star, my thought process went something like this... "Okay, hasn't he gotten all the stars he can here?" "Wait, how is he going to get enough height to butt-stomp King Whomp?" *collects the star* "WHAT!?" EDIT: Can you share the m64, Mickey?

As someone else has already mentioned, there is at least one more star that can be collected without pressing a. Nonetheless a great run.

I haven't talked to any of the authors, but this video popped up pretty soon after the first one. It means progress is still happening rather quickly, so I doubt it'll be submitted anytime soon. Time to find a glitch to swim very fast under water without pressing the A button? ;p

As for the no-A-button category, how many stars could be collected without the A button if you already had the Bowser keys allowing you to reach other parts of the Castle? The reason I ask is that the category might be more interesting if done from a save rather than from a clean cartridge; to be precise, I would suggest the one produced by the 0 star TAS. I think there would be rather more fun in a longer run in that category, even if it's impossible to make it complete the game (I take it BitS is impossible without jumping)?

Almost certainly, since climbing into the pipe would be a problem. It may be possible, but I greatly doubt that Bowser in the Dark World can be done without A, since there's that high ledge at the end.

Well, I managed to do BitDW on SM64DS without the jump button. I'm completely unfamiliar with the original's controls, though.

On the DS version though, the player can actually climb on ledges after a mini flip via slide kick/dive. You can't do that on the N64 version. My 0 Jump button challenge on BitDW DS version. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dB-_3zzUPHw
