Wow a TAS on that website?? Considering how adamant Nate is about anti-TAS, I'm very surprised. Luckily, he still found the time to let everyone know he's above all of us:

Also, he made an intro screen to the TAS:

Ridiculous. What a stubborn and closed-minded person. </annoyed>

And he readily admits it as well. But this should fly under the radar over there, since he rarely even enters the Fusion forum, let alone keeps current on threads.

The picture can be found here, it won't let me link to it from elsewhere, that's why I edited my first post to type out what the intro screen said. Edit: replied to an edited post, we just keep missing each other, huh? :)

I've been reminding Megafrost weekly, often multiple times a week, but now he's more obsessed with getting his Blaster Master speedrun done. (Although what we really need to do is get him to stop playing Runescape... that's where he's really burning away his free time.) Although, the competition is not as worrying as I originally thought. One thing I noticed is that he started from SRAM/RESET, which is officially against site submission rules (but personally is something I hope isn't so rigid, especially in the case of games like this.) However, even taking into account the intro vs no intro differences in their runs, Megafrost's execution of that part was 15 and a half seconds faster. Various reasons... mostly the boss fight. I think mostly it sums up to him doing speedrunning tactics / thinking a bit more like a speedrunner with accuracy and not quite having the TAS mindset yet. In other words, it's still going to be very entertaining, but will also have lots of room for improvement.

They could just have posted a link to Megafrosts video, since if someone would want to see the whole game completed with 0%, I don't know why since it's not that different from 1%, only like 15 seconds of the game. I guess Nate saw this as an opportunity to express his hatred for TAS, which I think nobody gives a damn about. (Well I did... A little just now.) ;P But whatever, I'd also want to see an update of this video, and do post it with a new save state from where the last movie ended, it took a while to play it from the latest save state included in the last movie file even on fast forward.

Well, Megafrost told me he'll work on it some more. Now I should get MY ass into gear and finish that Rockman and Forte run. =-o (Of course, not while at work. <.< >.>)

Unfortunately, I won't be able to get in too much work on my run as I leave town Thursday morning. But I'll see if I can finish this sector before then. Also, someone out there should plan on doing any% and 100% runs. I can't see myself doing either of those runs.

I'm back and I've finished my revisit to Sector 3 (PYR). The zip file has been updated. Save state 5 brings you to the end of my conversation with the computer just before the countdown timer appears.

Believe it or not, I've updated the zip file again. Save state 6 warps to the elevator leading to the main deck(when looking for survivors) and the file ends after the conversation with Adam when the power is cut.

new page gives new lazy link. http://www.kraftfam.org/~david/fusion0percent.zip I must say, this is really shaping up to be an incredible run to watch, especially given the games linearity. I'd almost go as far as to say that when its finished it'll be star worthy material. I cant wait to see the nightmare fight when you get there, though that seems to have lag issues, or at least it did when i played it.

I believe Nitsuja actual fixed that ancient VBA bug. :) (Other things that should have lagged include the Sarris fight and possibly power bomb usage as well.) I'm sort of afraid of the Nightmare fight. Because this is a 0% run... well, five less missiles scares me a bit. That's 33% less missileness, which corresponds to longer, more durable Nightmare, now for only 5 easy payments of $29.99 and if you act now we'll include this handy X-core free of charge!

I have some ideas for the fight, but in the meantime I'll have to deal with Yakuza and the pirate gauntlet. Neither of which I like dealing with. And then after that, I'll have space jump which is gonna be a real pain to optimize. (I have no experience with this sort of thing. Anybody have any tips? I believe you have to drop for exactly 13 frames before you can jump again.)

Oooh, I didn't know about the 13 frames thing. I thought it was to do with how long you were pressing A and whether you were moving sideways... lol. Anyway, great video as before, can't wait to see the Nightmare bit :P (That is, by the way, the one boss I had to cheat on to get past...) By the way, how come Serris started in boost mode and took only 2 hits to beat? O.o

Nightmare is hard like hell. I guess I have to find the ROM and take a look at this run.

Hey, when I fought Nightmare for the first time, I just spammed him with missiles and, well, that's all. The same with Ridley. On the other hand, that wasn't even close to 0%, so I'm eager to see these fights too. :) Current WIP is excellent and seems to be frame perfect (or at least near frame perfect), great work.

As far as I know, he always starts in boost mode and comes out of it at exactly the same place. For the second part of your question... When you shoot out a fully charged shot, it's separated into two components. If they both hit, they both deal damage. But you'll also notice a little flare animation in front of the gun. That deals damage too. Notice that I shot Serris at point blank both times? The flare is very useful.

Zip file updated. Yakuza is dead, space jump is acquired, and auxiliary power is on. Save state 7 warps to the elevator because I changed something between there and the ship.

That's good to know... [must be how you defeat the Eye Doors too] *watches the update* Edit: Not really on topic, but how come the Options->Speed->Set Speed won't go higher than 100% (but will increase the pitch of the sound) when the frameskip is zero? *continues watching* Edit2: I like how you defeated the spider boss there. Although, the power bomb you laid before getting to the ship, what was the point in that? I didn't see one, anyway. :\ [/so many questions]

I lay the power bomb there because there are some blocks in my way that I have to get rid of. If you slow it down, you'll notice that during the room transition some powerbomb-blocks are being destroyed. I get rid of those so that when I come back, I can just speedboost past the room with no delay.

Sorry, my fault again... I forgot that powerbomb blocks don't regenerate. I forget way too much, heh.

Uh oh...as fast as my run is, it looks like there is a lot of room for improvement. I've only been hitting the Core-Xs with two missiles at once when they spawn...but apparantly it is possible to hit them with two missiles after they spawn, reducing the time I have to wait for them to stop flashing(since I can hit with two at a time). Don't worry, I'm not gonna throw away this run. It just means that I'll have to make another(or get someone else to do it) once I'm done with it.
