Everyone can equip the legendary sword - actually everyone can equip everything. Everyone except the dragon is needed in the final dungeon, but Hawk man fights the boss so damage is only important for him. Small addendum: you need 250 gold to buy a key somewhere, I think. So it won't be completely money-collecting free. EDIT: Found me a password and checked out. Lion - Legedary 245 AP, Muramasa 250 AP Hawk - Legendary 210 DP, Heavenly 220 DP For everything else the Legendary equipment is best in all categories. I severly doubt that getting any of the other equipment is worth your time.

Saw your wip for the first time and the music is much better than Wonderboy 2. Was wondering if its possible to luck manipulate that mouse man boss to get up from the ground early as possible? So who will TAS Kensiden and Psycho Fox thanks to DrSMS :)

Well, I'll try to finish today then we can start planning a route and calculate exactly how much gold I need and how best to get that gold. I'll need most of the gold after I beat the Mecha Dragon to be able to buy the first armor and sword. I won't need gold after that for a long while so possibly I'll get some entering the legendary sword room again as there's plenty in there.

Sloppy test run finished. I forgot to get the magical sword to form blocks when I could. Oh well, it doesn't matter much. Now I'll start working on a route and calculate how much gold I need. Even though Bisqwit won't accept movies made from DrSMS it doesn't hurt to have this planned out and ready if we ever get a real recording SMS emulator. Edit: Sub 35 minutes is very realistic I think..maybe 30..

Here's a one-to-two minute timesaver: after the water boss, use the warp back to the town instead of running. :P

WOW! I just tested to inject psycho fox. Worked like a charm. Will check this run out now. Awesome tool. Cheers! Edit: Weee!! The playback worked fine too! I expect to see a submission before bedtime. :)

I wouldn't expect that because Bisqwit said it isn't allowed. I guess we are back to square one.

Not really square one. We can at least make runs for now, and hope that an SMS-emu will be compatible with the vba movies. :D So far it's great entertainment, even though it won't be publishable.

So did you stop? Atleast we can create the runs and the game's topic in the SMS part in this forum. Begin to produce them just for show in the topics. Then when we have done a few runs parhaps the "real" emulator gets here and we can start the TAS them for real. :) I liked your run. Dont stop.

>or do you see possible improvements? I mentioned a 1-2 minute improvement a few posts up. In any case, SMS runs are not accepted here at the moment, so it cannot be submitted anyway.

A little trick I know for this game (which I havn't seen mentioned in any faqs). There are several shortcut 'boss' doors hidden around the village, including one which warps directly to Vampire Dragon. The major problem though is that you need 99 charmstones before you can start opening them, so unless getting a charmstone drop every enemy is possible, this trick has limited use in a tas.

There is another trick for that too. By typing "WE5T ONE 000 0000" You will be starting as Hu-man with all the stuff. The doors that we speak of is hidden around the town.

Hello! If anyone is thinking of doing this on the new SMS Rerecording emulator, I think this is a good route. After watching OgreSlayeR's TAS and #endgame's single-segment speedrun, i've kinda mashed the two together: Mecha Dragon Get key by the pirate ship. Buy Mithril Armor/Sword. Go through desert, beat Mummy Dragon Buy Shogun Lamellar/Blade Go through jungle, beat Zombie Dragon Get key from red ghost below castle. Glitch to Ruined Castle, get Legendary Armor/Sword Go though lava region, get Thunder Sabre Transform to Mouse-man Go to underground cave, get Magical Sabre Go through cave, get Tasmanian Sword Transform to Hawk-man, go back to village Go to Vampire Dragon's world, beat the game.

Hey guys, just thought I should say I'll be working on this again now that we seem to have a SMS emulator that will be accepted for the site. I'll work on one more test run on the new emulator and then I'll do the real run if/when the emulator is finished and accepted.

I started working on it and finished the intro stage. Here it is. Lemme know if it desyncs or not. I used the Wonder Boy 3 - The Dragon's Trap (UE) [!] rom.

No desynch issue whatsoever.

neither, looks pretty neat. would it be faster to get hit by the falling ceiling instead of slowing down, in order to avoid them ?

I just started over on the newest version dega and beat the mummy dragon boss. Grab the movie Here. I improved a few minor things and I got the exact amount of coins I needed instead of getting extra that I won't need. One thing I know for sure is that the boomerang(s) is essential for a TAS if want to kill things while still moving. Also taking damage is a no no as it just slows you down. It seems to only be useful so far for getting knocked up which seems only useful in the falling block platform part in the intro stage.

After you have getting the legendary stuff... sword/shield/armor. Is there any point getting the other swords except the Magical Sabre?? And for Shields and Armors.. Since we probably wont take any damage. Is there any use to even buy the Mithril Armor/Shield except the armor at the lava so you can walk in it(atleast I think it was the armor)? :) EDIT: Nvm that with the mithril armor. Saw that you had to buy the armor to get the sword to appear =)

Just watched this run. It syncs correctly for me, but I have a couple of questions about possible time savers 1) I'm pretty sure I defeated the mummy dragon faster, in real time, on my first (successful) try. The trick is to get arrows (an attack spell that flies straight up) so you can hit him when he's too high for you to jump and hit him. I believe they also do more than 4 damage each. I know that the drops in this game can be manipulated, have you tried seeing if you can make them drop arrows? Also, wouldn't it be faster to collect some of the gold you need from enemy drops, instead of waiting for all that time after defeating the Mekadragon?

Well.. collecting the coins from the enemies takes alot of time. That means that you have to stop and wait for the coin to appers and to start to fell down before you can reach it. The arrows is accually a great idea since they go straight up and can hit stuff that you normally cant reach. =] but the manipulation in this game sucks really hard. Its hard to get what you want :)
