Wow... so amazing. Bright Man's battle was great. Also, Coiling across the spikes was very cool. I feel stupid for not being able to reproduce it.

Yeah, that was Nsm's idea there. I just optimized it.

Here is my latest stab at the first form of Ballade. http://www.filespace.org/BagOfMagicFood/Mega_Man_4_U.zip

Hmm... I found I could save some time on Ballade by switching to Pharaoh Shot in the middle of the battle. I also started on ChargeMan, but maybe I should go see where else I need Pharaoh Shot to see if I can refill it conveniently.

Good, esp. in brightman stage... Have you had a good vocation, BoMF?

I've almost gotten my plan for the rest of the game figured out. I'm still working on the perfect strategy for the boss teleporter room, and I haven't settled on certain strategies for some of the non-boss areas of the later Dr. Wily levels.

Even though Napalm Man is quickly killed with Pharoah Shot, I don't think it's faster to start with him because there are 3 parts on the first half of his level where Rush Jet could be useful. Also, since Charge Man might be killed faster with the Mega Buster anyway, this might be the fastest route. The only other place I see where it's useful is in Crystal Man's stage, when you're waiting on the lowering an raising platforms. Oh, and Napalm Bomb looks awesome on Charge Man's level and seems pretty useful against the robot chickens. I don't think this is reason enough to keep the route the same though.
Yeah, Rush Jet is plenty useful in CrystalMan and NapalmMan, so I'm doing ChargeMan first because Napalm Bomb saved more time on StoneMan than Power Stone saved on ChargeMan in my test fights. What's mainly been holding me up these past few days is deciding whether to use Pharaoh Shot for part of the fight against the first Ballade. I think I'll go with the version where I don't use it because I can't seem to get refills in such a way as to not lose the savings.

Here is a picture of what I was talking about in Napalm Man's level. Where it says "jump" is where the trick shown in Nsm's movie (slide jump in Ring Man's Stage) would be used. I'm not sure if you can do it on the first part of the first picture, so I drew up two routes.
That's just what I'm going to do, except in the first part, I can't jump up to the high platform because Rush won't be that high. I'm actually going to go straight across the bottom thanks to a trick I discovered that keeps me from falling in the fire.

And this ought to be the final version of CrystalMan! http://www.filespace.org/BagOfMagicFood/Mega_Man_4_U.zip

In Crystal Man level, it isn't faster you use the Rush Coil when you go up the ladder? near the first Crystal Enemy and a big P chip.

I tried that, but it ended up wasting more time from the weapon switch than it saved because you have to climb so far up before you can land on Rush.

Okay, I figured out a better way to fight bosses with the Mega Rock Buster. You know how the NES movie authors are firing one uncharged shot from far away as early as possible to start one of the charged shots? Well, since the charged shot saves so little time compared to three uncharged shots on Game Boy, I figured the best strategy here was to alternate between charged shots and uncharged shots so that I end up firing 5 big ones and 4 small ones during the fight and use the "fire smalls from far away" technique four times. I've already saved 27 frames on the PharaohMan fight by doing this, so if I continue the current movie, it'll just be a test run to see if my plan for the end of the game works out.

Another thing I remembered is that I could try to use missed shots to my advantage. There's the obvious "shoot to charge at a more convenient time" idea, but also, in this game, a charged shot pushes you back a little. Perhaps I could fire a charged shot while entering an area vertically and facing backward in some situations to get an extra boost forward. Should I try to work this into a redo of the first four levels?

Worth a shot. =) Not sure where it would save time, but it would be something interesting to stick in if it doesn't cost time.

Well, I think it would be a little silly to fire missed shots if they don't do anything worthwhile, but I'll see. It's probably worth a redo to see if I can take back those "mysterious time losses".

Are you talking about the part at the end of the first fortress after getting Ballade's weapon where the building falls apart behind you? I was thinking of using Ballade Cracker for most of that since it can destroy multiple barriers with a single shot, but it is laggy and I may need it more for the final fortress. So I'm not sure because I haven't tested it yet. And does anyone think I should switch to Rockman World 4 for the final run to make it a little faster?

Yeah, I mean the clasping fortess... Are you sure rockman world 4 is faster? But some of us doesn't get used to non-english version for language block. (Sometimes it seemingly doesn't bother...)

I figure it doesn't matter much because unlike the next game, there are only two forced conversations in this game, and I can get through both of them really fast, so you probably wouldn't catch them anyway. But if it really bothers you, I can work on the American version again.

Or should I work on another RockMan World game? I would go back and do RockMan World 2, except I'm having trouble with item manipulation and it would seem very important to get lots of refills in MetalMan's stage.
