Bisqwit: I'm submitting this movie on the behalf of Pom.
This is a new record of Super Mario Bros, made in VirtuaNES but converted to FCEU's FCM format.
How it compares to existing movies:
which movie Input-end at frame# Axe hit at frame #
Pom's previous movie 17978* 18000*
Phil's unpublished movie 17979 17997
This movie 17974 17996
(*= Comparable timing. Subtract 2 frames to get Famtasia timing.)
(Input-end refers to the frame when all buttons are released, not movie-end.)
It was made by Pom soon after he discovered about Phil's unpublished movie, but Pom thought the improvement is too small to be worth anything. However, apparently his opinion changed :)
Note: You may notice that some levels are not played as fast as they could be. This is because of the 21-frame rule inherent in the Super Mario Bros game. The rule means that completion times of all levels (except the last one) are rounded up to the next 21-frame boundary, regardless of the exact time.

ChuChu Rocket is fun to play, but the puzzle attack mode, as it only seems to have one solution per stage, would involve going to gamefaqs and figuring out the fastest way to place tiles with a cursor. And poor omniswarrior doesn't seem to realise that with emulators and playing the game one frame at a time, that it would be no accomplishment. And that is what this site focuses on, looking cool by playing in slow motion with retries. You didn't think anyone is actually that good of a player, did we? I mean, DAMN! Or you knew that and were going to submit a movie like I said.

Or how about you fix your own system so that the video works, before I start regretting that favor I did.

Well, maybe you should try describing your problem with whichever video you're trying to download or use.

Works like it should for me. Are you sure you aren't trying to stream it directly from the server?

Place the mouse cursor over the AVI file link, and then press the right mouse button (not left). A menu appears. Select "save as" (click that text) and choose the location from your disk to save the file into. Then wait until it downloads. When it's done, go and watch it from your own disk.

OK, back to the subject at hand. If we put down the 21-frame rule down for a bit, I think I know why Pom slowed down on a few spots. 1) It's very obvious that Pom wanted to impress the viewer by hitting more enemies on their heads, or to get a higher score by picking up the coins and hitting coin blocks. He even hit many enemies in successions and didn't flinch at all. That's impressive stuff indeed. 2) The other reason is that Pom didn't want to get any fireworks at the end of each level, even though Pom did get one in uh, level 4-1? (I forgot since I already removed the file I downloaded and I can't recheck it unless I download again) This is also an amazing feet to actually being able to determine when you get the xx0 in your timer and not get the fireworks that way. Pom deserves extra credit just for that. 3) This is not part of subject at hand, but still either an amazing or an unneccessary thing, and that's the left/right pad usage, especially in level 8-4 underwater. It glitched Mario's appearance at some point, and some people may think that it's impressive, but I found it unneccessary, because it's been done multiple times on almost any game you can mention with that option at hand. Correct me on all of these if I'm wrong. Anyways, I did love the run, and even though it's already published, I'd vote yes on this anyways! Kudos for those extra frame-cuts, Pom! You rock! ^_^

I'm glad to hear you got it working. Which one of the jumps are you talking about? I did three or four walljumps (Mario hits the edge of the pit and jumps from it), and one rejump from a mushroom. The walljump is explained at http://tasvideos.org/SuperMarioBrosTricks.html and the mushroom trick is done by releasing A before catching the mushroom and then holding A again after that.

No idea. Try it, if you have that game. But note that the walljump is very difficult to perform on an actual game. The mushroom trick is much easier - in fact so easy that it often happens incidentally. (Except when you are relying on it, of course :) )
