No, I mean going up a room shortly after walking into the Inverse Arena. See the Richter TAS I made, or the run at SDA for the route I'm referring to.

i think it's better to take the lower route there in this case. the upper route requires more upwards travel, which is slower with just that Bat. it's faster for the Richter route because he has the moon jump.

However, you do have that REALLY long passageway that goes most of the way through the Inverse Arena for the Wing Smash glitch. I think it's honestly worth testing.

I made an encode of this movie while I was doing some tests for the next version of PCSX. If there's still someone who has not watched this, the video file can be downloaded from here: csotn-richter-tas-sirvg.avi (26 MB). I think this is the first almost-max-quality-60fps video of a PCSX movie; at least the first one with proper sound. :P Unfortunately, this was the only game I could make a video of with its audio not sounding like complete shit...

The audio still has some artifacts/static consistently throughout it however (could that be due to it being 32Khz/96Kbit mp3?), and the video resolution seems really odd (256x240, would've thought it to be 320x240), but it's definitely a good step in the right direction :) I take it that what you've got going on right now doesn't play nicely with sequenced audio or such? If sotn works, I would've made the assumption that other XA audio using games (the x series comes to mind) would work without much hassle.

The audio is the best it can get, I'm afraid; as it runs at consistent 60fps. Maybe it could get better with other audio plugin configurations (interpolation?), but I doubt it. It always sounded the same on my computer while I was playing in real time with PCSX. Probably other plugins might sound better, but this is the only open-source one, and we need this to make it desync-proof.

I'm currently using a slightly modified external tool to do the job. I've already found a workaround for that problem I had, though. It was caused because some games started to run at 30fps after a while for some reason, usually after an internal graphics resolution change. This caused jerkiness on the audio, but the video looked fine. I've encoded an avi for FractalFusion's Mega Man X4 test WIP here: megamanx4-tas-fractalfusion.avi. It's in one big single segment and with no A/V drift as far as I can see, but the music sounds the same as SotN...

The down shift in quality from the first half of the Richter run and the second half is very noticeable.

yeah, it was arukAdo's first TAS attempt... it should not be included in his resumé.

I actually did find one very minor improvement to pirate's run. Start at the title screen can be pressed sooner (my WIP2 (which I'm not very far on) is 1 frame faster after the name entry screen).

I guess you're not using 2 memory cards anymore.

I never changed anything from before. Blank Card on 1, Richter save on Card 2. And I was able to press start at the title screen a hair sooner.

Well, looks like I'm at 774. I swore it was there. Let me do some investigation. But it's sometime between the title and the game start, because... Your first Richter move - 1630. Mine: 1628. -- Richter Name Entry (Press Start) You - 1221 Me - 1219 -- Save File Selected You - 1197 Me - 1196 -- File Select You - 989 Me - 989 Well, that gives a bit of an idea on where, anyways. I'm not sure if it comes from putting the Richter save on slot 2, or if you can do it on your TAS file as well.

weird... I thought that 2 memory cards would just make it slower... did you check the input? maybe you optmized something without noticing.

Nice music synchronization. I vote yes.
