https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qZP-BHWbPQ Input: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/29510493818759218 This was much easier to do since there's just 1 guy I need to worry about. Although, since this is a 10KO battle, this is the slowest fight in the entire run, despite being the easiest. Time for the 3rd fight then.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaELA2JNElo Input: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/29553644117284743 Well, this one requires some explaining: This ended up slower than I anticipated, but it all comes down to the stage's initial spawning positions and the characters. Regarding the stage: It was a bunch of walls, which slows the CPU characters down significantly. The initial spawning point for all players doesn't help either. Regarding Gamma: He's very slow. He also likes to take his sweet time to make a move, slowing me down, again. One thing that helps me quite a lot is that he explodes everytime he dies, and since I can block that, I'm able to fill my super meter really quickly. When the Super Meter charges completely, one of the special moves I perform will 1HKO anyone, as long as they don't have defense against a specific move, so with a lot of AI manipulation, I manage to make my moves consistently as all of the current circumstances let me to. Regarding Rouge: She's a troll. Everytime a character spawns, they always spawn in midair. Everytime Rouge spawns however, she keeps flying in midair and it takes a long time for her to fully land on the ground. Also when she gets hit if her Y position is even remotely not on the ground, she'll keep descending very slowly, making my special move KOs very, VERY tricky. Not to mention the spawning patterns and the special move blocking, which made the fight even more difficult to TAS, just like the first fight with Tails and Knuckles. But now that this fight's done, it's time for the fourth fight featuring... Chaos! yay...

fastest fight so far: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySKw8GcBqW8 Input: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/29575830438614149 This is possibly the only instance in the entire TAS which I take damage, just to keep my KOing pace as consistent as I can. Thankfully, despite Chaos being the most defensive character in the game, I still manage to kill him as consistently as Amy and Cream. The last KO was very useful since I blocked Amy's special move so I can 1HKO Chaos in the end really fast. Well, there's just 1 more fight to go! Wish me luck!

hum,i don't believe this can get accepted since it's both boring and not the most optimal solution.I wonder if just parry and spam specials is faster than the special spam.

So, um... Few hours ago I found something. It's gonna lose all entertainment value of all previous TASes, but you'll gonna be amazed of how ridiculous these new strats are. New submission coming on weekend, get hyped! =D

lel nvm what i said. What I was going to do was a new Challenge Mode run with Knuckles, but it didn't worked out. It was supposed to use a new death glitch that I found which involves Emerl's story and dirty SRAM, which happens when you die in the Virtual Chamber room in story mode, quit story mode and re-enter Challenge Mode as Knuckles. What happens is that in Challenge Mode, when you kill 1 enemy, and you die right after, you'll beat the stage, which isn't supposed to happen, meaning you can destroy all of the known records of the game, including Kumquat's testrun with Emerl! Here's a video of the glitch in action (sorry it took so long to post this, my b): Link to video Unfortunately, it doesn't work on a clean save, so using Knuckles is out of the way. I guess I'll submit the Shadow run, if people desire. Sorry for the inconvenience... :P

It only worked using Knux in challenge mode? How odd.

I said Knux because he's faster with that glitch setup. The glitch works with every character, Knux turns out to be the fastest in that instance.

Ah right, thought that may have been what you meant. Interesting glitch regardless. Wonder if it, or similar type of things, work with other battles with unusual win/loss conditions in the story. The fights that progress with the story even if you lose or just quit out for example. Or that fight vs Rouge at the end of Amys story that has a loss condition of using any (non combo skill) special attack.

kurabupenguin, the glitch for Emerl challenge would make a great run for the site, fast enough to not get boring for anybody, congratulations on your finding, hopefully you might want to TAS it too, you'd only need a verification movie for rouge story until the specific part

A quick demonstration of what would be the main strategy used in fights as Emerl in a run with speed as a primary goal. Starting at about 30 seconds in. Link to video Emerls basic Air Shot Special move does not drain the Ichikoro gauge if you interrupt the move by landing before the actual 'shot' bit. It is also not classed as a Shot/power/mine move for whatever reason, so the opponents will not be able to innately block it. While this is obviously not a basic Emerl, all relevant skills are as if it's a new game (with the exception of the Sonic Air action double jump thing.) Being a basic move, the Air Shot Special that is the key to the quick kills, is available from Emerls very first fight. The first 30 seconds is not relevant to any speed strats; this input file is just from another Battle project I was working on. I decided to edit to show this off after the game gifted me a full bar from Knux hitting me from two Ground Power attacks. Not optimised in the slightest.

so in a speedrun, the priority is to manipulate better charging/healing skills to gain meter and abuse this glitch?i did similar when playing the game, emerls default special moves are great to be used inside combos

It would be a main strategy to employ for sure. As Kumquat pointed out earlier (5 years earlier!) Deep Impact, (aka Knux's ground Power) is a super powerful attack with a tiny skill point requirement, which should probably be one of the abilities picked up from the 2 Knux fights at the end of Sonics story. It could be used for quick kills, to give you time to fill your Ichikoro during respawns using Knux's heal, which I imagine would be the other skill to pick up here. (Knuxs heal being the less of the 3 that boost Ichikoro at a speed higher than base, others being Creams and Ultimate.) Without knowing how 'rare' skills unlock, and without looking at skill point allocation routing; as well as Knuxs ground power and heal, you'd prolly want Sonic/Tails run and jump at some point early on just to get to the enemies quicker. As well as an Attack boost card to make Deep Impact its 1hko. Picking up Gamma style that lets Emerl explode upon death would possibly save time also when playing against him to get gauge. It would probably be his most reliable sauce of assistance when hes an AI controlled ally too.

I'll have a look at the files when I have a minute Kusoge, but while I'm in here and thinking about it; good luck with what ever your goals are with this game! I'll look forward to it regardless.

do you know anything about the emerl cards spawn? when it's decided and stuff what i learned from my wip is killing with a bounce delays the spawn because the corpse only despawns when at the floor, which is a huge shame... i can only bounce combos at the end of the match IF positioning is fine

Unfortunately not. I'm pretty ignorant of the technical stuff going on behind the scenes to be honest. The only thing I can offer, having been away from the game for many years at this point is basics stuff, such as; for testing purposes, there is that '1K.O and you're done' fight toward the end of Knuxs story that might be useful for experimenting with card manipulation.

sonic best special moves are the ground ring and the aerial projectile, but thanks to the autoguard system it's not always available to use against enemies, so you need to switch up strategies against rouge it's better to just combo into air special move( bomb or projectile) at the start, but afterwards you can use ring or air projectile the last fight the enemy finally started using specials so i spammed a move it would defend to get gauge and used the sonic version of the gauge glitch, air projectile next to the floor is canceled before the fireball comes out and the gauge is depleted, it's the same as the emerl in practice, a jump costs 48 frames frmo start to landing, so you can use that to time the falling of the enemy https://tasvideos.org/UserFiles/Info/638289649394051877 Link to video most relevant strategy at 5:22

Nice Phi fight. If all the characters have gauge glitch I'm guessing this is going to be a pretty quick run when it comes to the fights. I was surprised that considering how little Emerl will see Shadow, that you settled with his heal skill. The gauge glitch make any potential skills from him irrelevant? Just asking this as I didn't see you use it at all; Spinning the camera around effect anything practical? Spawn locations, Skill drops or the like?

camera spin is the effect of mashing guard as i couldn't attack anyways, i tried manipulating the drop but going faster or slower didn't affect it at all, it's probably set somewhere a lot earlier the rng

Oh; you can skip the fight against Tails and Emerl in the lab by pausing+quitting out. You can do that with a number of fights throughout the game that you're not required to win. I believe that's the only one in Sonics story, but I know there's at least one against Rouge in Tails's story as well as some of the fights under conditions in Rouges story. I'll try to recall/find the full list of such battles. Sorry; I didn't have chance to watch the previous input file to catch it sooner. It's a shame too, as you made it a cool looking fight.
