Movie details

At the beginning of the movie, you see me going to the practice menu and you might be wondering for what good reason I am doing this as it just wastes time. Well, this is for entertainment purposes as it allows me later on to perform the two Stage Fatalities, which would otherwise not be possible. After that, I set the difficulty level to Ultimate, select Shinnok as the fighter and Master II as the destiny. Then begins the first fight...

Fight 1 (Raiden)

I morph into Scorpion and perform a 12 hit combo (registered as 11) which deals 55% damage. Then another 8 hit combo which deals 43%. I finish this round by throwing the weapon, which I conveniently got as a result of the last combo.
Second round with Sub-Zero. A 12 and 8 hit combo remove most of Raiden's energy. Then a 4 hit air-weapon combo finishes this round, after which Raiden is killed by Shinnok's first fatality.

Fight 2 (Sonya)

Fujin starts off by taking his crossbow and shooting a few times. He decides that it isn't fun to shoot from a distance and thus flings the crossbow right into Sonya's face. This round is finished by showing off some of Fujin's moves.
Next comes Raiden. Nothing special here, except for some nice camera work.

Fight 3 (Liu Kang)

This fight is handled by Kai and Jarek. Just showing all the special moves of the two. Liu Kang is killed by the stage fatality.

Fight 4 (Reiko)

Liu Kang is raised from the dead only to take out Reiko. He does so together with Sonya. I must mention here that Reiko is a very hard oppenent as he sometimes performs a move at the start of the battle, even before you can block or jump away, which is completely unavoidable.

Fight 5 (Kai)

Kai is taken care off by Tanya and Jax. Tanya shows that the big rocks at ground can be thrown and cause a lot of damage. This stage allows the second stage fatality, however something unexpected happens which you should see for yourself.

Fight 6 (Jarek)

Quan Chi begins this fight and as usual shows his arsenal of moves, including stealing Jarek's Black Dragon Sword. In the second round, you can see the work of Reptile. But only his work because he self turns invisible.

Fight 7 (Cage)

Now it is time for Reiko to show how good he really is in the hands of a master (ahem). The second round is reserved for the only character that is not played yet and that is Johnny Cage himself. Cage is killed by Shonnok's second fatality.

Fight 8 (Goro)

Scorpion, Fujin, Reiko and Sub-Zero join forces to kill this beast. Since Goro resists any damage done to him, there is much room for combos. This results in the best part of this movie: the final combo with Reiko. I am not going to spoil anything. You should definitely watch this movie, if only it was for this part.

Fight 9 (Shinnok)

Shinnok is killed rather quick using Tanya and Sonya. Nothing new here.

I think all these mk games are all the same. Having a run of each one is silly. Having said that, I found this one the most entertaining of them. Voting yes for this one as the one mk representative.

Well, MK4 is so unlike the rest of the MK games that I feel it isn't representative. I would say that MKTrilogy would be the most representative (and that that should replace teh SNES runs, if that is the will of the masses), but MK4 should be published separately simply for its hilariously campy production values. I'd like to see a run of every MK game (so long as it's entertaining). Just for the record.

I don't want to see MK1 that's for sure. After this is published (which is likely) and if UMK3 is finished and accepted, we shouldn't take anymore movies imo.

I don't think what game it is, or what other runs are published already should have any bearing on voting yes or no on a run, it should be based soley on entertainment.

It shouldn't, however it's become clear on more than one occasions that "judging" and "voting" are two seperate and often unrelated things.

The different characters are used to good effect, the only thing that it lacks is a variety of fatalities. I think this game is different enough to merit consideration. UMK3 and MKT are not, however. (See recent decision on UMK3.)

I loved all the combos, especially the goro one, and I certainly didn't expect an MK game to be entertaining but I was wrong. Yes vote.

That is because every character only has two fatalities (except for Quan Chi but using him would make the fighting part repetitive and hence not entertaining) plus two stage fatalities. There are no brutalities, animalities, babalities and friendships. Off topic: when you quote someone, how do you make the text say "Truncated wrote:" instead of "Quote:"?

Xyphys: I know. What I wrote was unclear, but that was a comment on the game and not the movie.

I had to vote Meh; the speedrun was super well done and I did enjoy some parts, but it is Mortal Kombat 4 and you can't get blood from a turnip. :( I'm keeping the AVI though.

Man, I had this game and clocked way too many hours in vs. mode. I don't remember it looking this horrible though (lol). Fantastic speedrun. On one hand, I'd vote "Meh" as I'm spoiled from the new MK's that have come out, and I really wanted to see the stage fatality that was sort of "glitched". Plus the best part of MK is all the fatalities. Also add it's sort of boring watching you decimate everyone - a feat more then expected in a TAS. I'd ask if it wouldn't be quicker to get punched once real quick to avoid the extra "Flawless Victory" text and speech every round, but I'm not gonna try it and I figured you did. However, it would take me many more hours then I'm sure it took you (I wasen't the greatest at MK, but I normally beat my friends), it was quick and somewhat entertaining watching the end result, Goro wasen't "Wow!" but very impressive (I couldn't do that!), and I believe every game should have a speedrun. No matter how bad. So "Yes" on those counts. But I can't vote, and it's a done deal anyway. Great job however you want to look at it, and glad to see this published. =)

TAS i'm interested: Megaman series, specially the RPGs! Where is the mmbn1 all chips TAS we deserve? Where is the Command Mission TAS? i'm slowly moving away from TASing fighting games for speed, maybe it's time to start finding some entertainment value in TASing.

>Providing a link that's about speed whilst the TAS is all about Entertainment. Yes and this provides what? You haven't explained why you linked the speedrun other than for us to assume it's faster than a not branched, but tagged playaround TAS which means nothing. (Then again, the TAS is more obvious that it's a playaround when the TAS is in the Moons and not the Vault.) For that speedrun. Not Enough Bicycle Kicks / 10.
