Looks sloppy, you can check marzo and aglar TAS for feedback is very useful.

Yeah I checked the sonic 100% run (any% had no stair climbing). It appears that those stairs aren't the only thing I need to improve. Oh well, I wasn't very satisfied with the start anyways (I tased up to the first spindash platform). EDIT: Using the Sonic 100% run as reference I was able to improve the stair climbing by about second and still got Tails to land. I don't think I'll need help with anything else so I'll update on this when I have act 1 finished.

:) keep in mind that Aglar’s runs are always optimized to a level nearly impossible to match even after years of practice, so, it’s absolutely no problem if your runs are objectively worse.

Yeah I know Aglar is godlike in tasing. If I tried to match his level of optimization I'd get burnt out as fast as Sonic can run. As long as the movement isn't sloppy and I get all the simple (not necessarily easy) time saves I'm a-okay with my runs. Oh yeah I should really note this before I forget again (I meant to say this months ago lol). I found a 1 frame improvement in Sandopolis 1 in the any% run. Have Tails hit the miniboss from the ceiling like I did in my testrun.

Some hours ago, I stumbled across this: https://youtu.be/gAEM2h_HZdI (skip to 4 minutes). This is terribly unoptimized, but the whole idea is that (using a game file) you should beat both midbosses of Knuckles' LBZ as either Sonic&Tails or Tails in "different" acts (as in, beat one midboss, allow the transition from LBZ1 to LBZ2 to fully happen without dying, and then beat the second one) and after the second score tally, reset the game. The game file believes you are now in Mushroom Hill, effectively skipping the entirety of Launch Base 2. I couldn't really find anything similar (other than a mention of the skip to the next level transition after a score tally glitch, which would often only save some seconds in an RTA/RTA-TB setting), so I'd like some opinions on whether this would be viable for the S3&K TAS (as you could effectively clear LBZ2 in 0:00.something). Thank you!

I'm not sure if it would be viable in a tas. The only thing we'd have to take into consideration is the reset. Even if we did allow it we can't record a reset in a movie file. This can also be done in ice cap with Sonic and Tails without debug. Although it's a lot slower than beating the whole zone normally in pretty much any category.

I finished Act 1 in my lava reef testrun. It was kinda difficult to optimize but I'm happy with how it turned it out. As for Act 2. I have a full route planned and tased 1:50 of the level. So far I'm having an easier time with it than Act 1. In fact that's my main concern. I feel like I went through it a bit too fast. It's not that it looks sloppy. It's just that I feel like it could've been done much better. I'm honestly not sure what to do. I kinda don't want to spoil the testrun until it's done but I'm considering pming it to some of you guys to take a look. What do you think I should do?

Yeah I decided to redo Act 2 and I'm glad I did. I'm not even a minute in and I already saved about 4 seconds. Unfortunately a good chunk of that might get eaten up by a moving tank :( EDIT: Nevermind problem solved. I clipped through the tank.

Yeah, improving existing run is always easier than creating a new tool-assisted speedrun from scratch, even if the reference run is your own :)

It really is. It allows you to plan out the movement in your run better. That's kinda why I made these testruns. It gives Evil a reference and allows me to improve my tasing skills. EDIT: Well I got to the point where I stopped in the old run. I saved 12-13 seconds so it was definitely worth it to redo Act 2.

13 seconds, that's great! glad to hear my tip was useful to you. These are the first 60 seconds in FBZ1 GMV file Gens 11b Savestate FBZ inputs starts at frame 206188

Yeah it was. The run looks way better than it originally was too. Your FBZ1 is amazing. My favorite part is that unexpected stair clip you did at 0:46. How long did take you to do that? Something that well coordinated must've been extremely difficult to pull off. Just one thing. What's with the small jump at frame 209562? EDIT: Nevermind I see why you did it.

Indeed, this carry clip needs 4 components. 1: Ring monitor: In order to Tails drop Sonic inside the ground 2: Tails driven by the propeller at a high speed 3: Sonic with his tall hitbox 4: Drop Sonic in a vertical position 213:000 or higher for the clip to be successful the jump in frame 209562 is to avoid the 30 frames inmovable penalty

Wow. I thought the one I'm gonna do in LRZ2 was difficult but this one takes the cake. Good job.

Well after about a month and over 50k effing rerecords (to be honest I'm not sure why the rerecord count is this high) my Sonic and Tails Lava Reef ring attack testrun is finally finished. This zone wasn't too difficult to tas but optimizing it took ages. I'll provide an encode later. I'm having issues with it right now due to the gmv's length.

Link is incorrect, try to upload gmvs in dehacked microstorage or in TASVideos userfiles

What the? I'm not sure what happened with the link. I must've deleted part of it by accident. Normally I don't use the userfiles or dehacked because neither of them has a place to put your savestate in and I like to put the gmv and savestate in one place for convenience sake. Oh well I'll take your advice and upload them separately anyways. gmv savestate
