Youtube couldn't process the video so I removed it. I don't want to stress out my internet anymore trying to upload it again only to find out it failed again so I'm going to put the video on hold until I can figure out how to encode something that long. Yeah out of all the testruns I've made this is my favorite. I'm really amazed by how it turned out.

I can encode it for you just give me some time, I'm finishing FBZ1 right now.

Yeah that'd be nice. Everytime I try to merge the video it becomes something that can't be watched which by extension can't be processed by youtube. Take your time with it though. I can't wait to see what your FBZ1 is like anyways.

So I realized that in all my time tasing I never actually tried to improve any runs other than my own. So I decided to do a quick Knuckles ring attack in the first half of AIZ1 in an attempt to beat Evil's time. I managed to save (give or take) 31 frames over his run. I'm probably gonna redo it if I want to make a full run of AIZ. I think I lost time in some spots as well. Link to video

Good luck kaan you will need it, specially in the tunnel tricks and the ring monitor to access in Sonic's area, this tricks are very hard to do. Ironically, AIZ is the first level but it is the most difficult of TAS at the same time with Knuckles in ring-attacks. FBZ 1 Wip 16 encode Link to video LRZ kaan testrun Link to video

Oh, let me put my own 5 cent in… http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1480145069/knuckles-ring-attack.gmv Enjoy, this way to start AIZ1 should be a bit faster than what kaan55 did. The number of rerecords is very false.

Thanks Evil. I'll definitely be referencing your run if I have trouble with those difficult tricks. Oh nice that is faster WST. Where all did those rerecords come from btw? The run above was just a test to see if I was capable of improving AIZ in any way which I was. Time for me to make the billionth iteration of this run.

I took my previous ring attack and rerecorded it, that’s why. I also wish you good luck, because I absolutely agree with Evil_3D — this stage is painful to TAS.

Thabks WST. I know it won't be easy. The fact that I'm trying to improve a well optimized run makes this even more difficult. At least I'm not trying to improve one of Aglar's runs XD

Someday you definitely should, because trying to improve Aglar (or Tee-N-Tee, Zurggriff) is completely difference experience and teaches you very high attention to details. Even if you fail (which is actually quite likely), it will still affect the quality of your future runs. :)

Aha! So at first I wasn't sure if this was actually hard or if it was just me, then I believe WST indicated that it was in fact hard, and now, this removes all doubt. I understand it's beyond frame perfect - that monitor jump to Sonic's route in AIZ - but I'd really like to know exactly how hard it is for something I'm writing, incidentally. I've heard terms like double frame perfect or pixel perfect, but Idek. Maybe our friend WST knows, and could clarify?

This TAS should be even slightly faster than that one, and I should be able to send the files if you like, Kaan55. Ah... just wanted to drop in and say, I'm excited this TAS is finally nearing the home stretch. SOZ lies before you guys, and that's daunting, but it seems like Kaan55's got LRZ on lockdown and after that, SSZ should be fun, and then it's just DEZ basically and it's all done. Best of luck!! Edit: By the way, and if I wasn't completely useless I would do this myself but, I do hope you guys have been periodically watching the entire movie from start to finish, including the initial run that isn't featured as part of this TAS which serves as the basis for it, to make sure it's acceptable for publication. I imagine you have, but you never know...

Maybe someday. I actually have tried to improve one of Aglar's runs once which was AIZ1 any% with Tails (I was doing a testrun to see what a Tails NG+ run would be like). Let me tell you one thing. You weren't kidding about his level of optimization. I wasn't even 4 seconds in and he was already far ahead of me. I was like wtf? The rest pretty much went the same way. I'm all for paying attention to every single detail and saving every frame I can, but trying to match that level of optimization is something I don't really think I can nor want to do atm. @TheYogWog, Oh hello haven't seen you in awhile. You can send the file if you'd like, but I don't think that start is faster than this one (link below). I think we've pretty much hit the limit for the first half of AIZ1. That is if I didn't screw anything up :p I don't think I'll have too much trouble with the monitor superglide as that's just a matter of getting the right position, speed, and timing. The tunnel trick on the other hand I'm not so sure about. Knuckles ring attack gmv Yeah helping you guys with this run has been a blast. I'm a little sad that it's almost over but I suppose all good things must come to an end. Maybe I'll be able to help out with the next project. SOZ isn't even that bad in this category honestly. Act 1 is just long and Act 2 just has 1 insanely difficult trick among a few other things.

Well, actually, it is visibilly slower, maybe you sent a wrong link or something?

I'd also love to know the details, but actually I am pretty much a "brute-force" TASer, sometimes I perform hard tricks by heavy rerecording (or even bruteforcing with Lua), and really seldom do explicit calculations. For this particular case, sadly, I do not know any techical details behind it, I just do it many times using try-and-fail strategy until I finally perform it. So, the only thing I can say about it is that it's pretty hard.

I know that feeling very well. So, when I first time saw Tee-N-Tee and Zurggriff, I instantly realized that they are deadly overskilled :) Well, my new Amy@S3K TAS, which is currently a WIP, should be also quite hard to improve, at least I really hope so. So, you can also try your hand on it. If you want, I will send you the gmv.

@Theyogwog - Here are all of the test runs of the next levels, practically the movie is complete, I only need to add some tas-magic-skills and improved that runs, that will take time of course. All is maded by kaan, SSZ and DDZ is by me. This is a good opportunity if someone wants to see the next levels together in order. Actually, I hate abusing Hyper transformation. I am not sure if someone here agrees with me. It's getting old after using it 1-2 times, and later it only breaks the expected music, which is uncomfortable, at least for me. I would prefer avoiding it.

I'm agree but I use it in MGZ2 for save 50 frames in the final boss witch is important, and some other in CNZ2, in LRZ1 and DEZ2 is useless because is possible do perfect frame hits without instashield.

Yep, it should be used when it saves time, but not for entertainment, because it's entertainment value is doubtful.

I do agree with you. Only using Hyper Sonic in places where it saves time is enough for me personally. Wait how would you get a frame perfect kill with the LRZ1 boss without Hyper Sonic or the instashield? I used it there to hit the hand on the first frame it became vulnerable because I thought it would be impossible to do otherwise.

With some hitbox abuse and manipulating the hand you can do it, see Knuckles any% as example.

I checked it with frame advance. The LRZ1 hand from that run doesn't look frame perfect to me.

Holy shit. So, curious, approximately when do you expect to submit? I've not watched these yet but I'm gonna enjoy it. How lucky I am...

My mistake, but I think is possible.

Yeah I'd say you're due for a break by then, anyway. Ring Attack TASes are really labor intensive grinds, and you've been doing those and more pretty regularly for a while already. Whatever happens, hope you (and everyone) enjoy their time as TASers while they can, and come away someday feeling fond about it as I did. TASing is the best videogame.
