Looking good Evil; these were a good welcome home gift after a holiday for myself. Feels like the finish line is in sight, though that may be as I'm used to the Knux run when it comes to ring attacks.

Well, the difference between Knux run is that Sonic can grab all the rings in LRZ2 (boss zone) and Hidden Palace, and there are more zones: Sky Sanctuary, Death Egg and Doomsday Zone.

How are you going to handle the final segment of Doomsday Zone? If memory serves, it runs endlessly until you've delivered the requisite 8 hits to the Egg Bomber, and you can keep collecting rings the whole time.

1 year ago I did a testrun in DDZ, I experimented a bit in the final part, first grabbing the rings on the way and then hitting eggman without abusing the infinite part a lot. For me, this was the best result that came to my mind, another way is to avoid the rings and hit Eggman, but the objective of the ring-attack would not be fulfilled for me. I think that's a perfect solution. No more rings have time to spawn after the group of 3 you collect after input ends, I'm guessing?

I seem to have a decent handle on resyncing the run so I'm willing to do it if you want to redo AIZ 1 and 2. You also haven't touched the new route for Act 2 so there might be some improvements there as well. Once you're done let me add in the inputs. I don't know why, but it seems that every time you do it the run desyncs in the worst possible spot. I guess I'm just luckier with resyncs :p

But you helped 2 branches at the same time :D Ed: I saved 6 seconds in the first part of AIZ1 and re-routed the second half, I'm specting saving more time. Ed 2: About AIZ 2; I would like to maintain some kaan's inputs in the movie, It is very sure that it is the last time you will do AIZ2; If you wish, I can highlight the improvements through MP if you are willing to do it again.

Wow 6 seconds that is impressive. Sure I'll redo AIZ2 again if you highlight the improvements because I doubt I'll save much time if I tas it on my own. Since you really want my inputs in the movie I could also redo SPZ2 try to get in that 2 second improvement with the light switch trick in.

Testing the slope glitch with Tails I found that some rings (not all) can be grabed. It will be great if you test better because I'm finishing AIZ1 right now, this is disgusting because this new rings will be consume the timed you saved before (I hate officially AIZ2 now) You can try Sandopolis 2 if you want too, but I'm sure that some obstacle will consume the saved time, but for now let's remove AIZ2 from our backs. unless we found a way to break the death boundary I'm 100% sure that the rest of the rings can't be collected

Yeah I was afraid of this. To be honest with you I actually don't want to go for any additional rings in the new run. It'll be boring to tas and collecting all those rings will more than likely kill the entertainment value of the level. Let's see if there's a way we can make Sonic get slope glitch. While tasing FBZ2 I discovered that it's possible to vertically loop around a map if you carry vertical zipping speed to an upside-down slope.

Honestly I'm with you, this time we would have to consume a ridiculous amount of time executing Tails' slope glitch 7 more times, this would give a poor quality of entertainment and absurd introduction to the movie. So, AIZ 2 v3 is the perfect balance for me.

I can't really help but blame myself for this. If I didn't ask you to find a way to get more rings we could've gotten away with not collecting any of those. But now people are going to question us if we don't get them. How about we put in an restriction where we can't collect any rings by clipping through the death boundary which is currently the only way to get those 7 extra rings. This'll allow us to maintain the AIZ2 v3 route with the 327 rings we collected before. I know putting an oddly specific restriction like that sounds unorthodox but I'd rather not make a run like that and have our viewers suffer through it. Let's see if we can find a faster alternative though. The main one that comes to mind is making Sonic vertically loop the level from the top and have him collect Knuckles' rings from there.

People usually usderstand if we explains the situation here, most of them will be agree to maintain a level "fast" and continious, the 7 slope glitch setups will be add 3~4 min of level duration (which is boring), they will judge the whole movie not just AIZ2. Btw, you can check if really the 7 rings are possible to collect with Tails? because some of them I marked only for supposition

I was able to get 5 of them. That's still going to make AIZ2 boring to watch. To make matters worse you can probably get the other 2 and possibly more with precise movement. Well I guess it's settled then. We're going to skip those rings and just collect the 327 we got before. In that case I'll be waiting for you to highlight any possible improvements you see. Don't worry I know they'll understand and I know they'll judge the whole movie and not just AIZ2.

To be honest, I’d prefer if you guys collected those rings, just because it’s proven to be possible and the goal of the TAS is collecting everything collectable. On the one hand — yes, it will certainly make the run more boring and you’ll have to pass through the resync process once again. On the other — you won’t have exceptions from your rules. Just like in the previous ring attack, some places can be time-consuming and annoying (like MCZ2 there), but as you see, people easilly accepted it at that time, I don’t think this time will be different. But that’s only my personal opinion. I am not trolling anyone and if you don’t want to do tons of those routine works, it’s fine.

I've been following this TAS's progress on YouTube for a while now and my opinion on AI2 is that it's better to get the rings than not. I have found a lot of the enjoyment of this TAS to be the careful coordination between Sonic and Tails. The AI2 from Tails's perspective really opened up how complex this got, and has me noticing and enjoying a lot more of the coordination in the other levels. Maybe a side publication with the entire run from Tails's perspective would help with others understanding the delays in AI2 and some other levels for the sake of maximum rings. My pie-in-the-sky encode of this run would be an Atlas style video that had Sonic, Tails, and the nearby areas to show some of the crazy paths that electrified rings take. In either case, I would still vote Yes for the submission.
