Why is this thread being used to complain about movie tags (not) applied to a specific movie?! Go post this stuff in the movie threads themselves. This is a discussion about movie tags (and their applications) in general.
I also made that complaint when a submission came up that claimed to be improving that movie by being faster (missing tag maybe confused the author?) in the corresponding submission thread, but it got ignored. As it seems both of these places weren't the correct ones for such a complaint, I'm very sorry about that. I had assumed reviving old movie threads would probably be ignored. I made the mistake of posting in here because the thread name seemed pretty suggestive and I've seen many other complaints before mine in here.

SNES Legend of Zelda - A Link to the Past (USA) "glitched" in 03:44.65 by Tompa. SNES The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (USA) in 1:16:11.05 by Tompa. The inclusion of the word "the" makes the 2 movies appear at completely different parts of the page, instead of side-by-side.

Just wrote something in Zeupar's topic on branch names that I think is relevant here. Our categories for glitches aren't precise enough, in my opinion. Personally, I'd like to see these categories for glitches: 1. Uses RAM/save corruption glitches 2. Uses out-of-bounds glitches 3. Foregoes glitches infeasible in real time We also assume "regular glitches" are used by default, so there's no need to make mention of that. Now, that third category in particular requires some explanation, because it's something new that we haven't talked about all that much. Basically, this would explicitly allow the submissions of movies that forego the use of glitches that real time speedrunners don't use because they're infeasible (such as the zipping trick in MM1, which is so difficult and luck-dependent to pull off that it isn't used). I realize this is a bit controversial, but I think it's a legitimate concept that warrants some thought. The other two seem simple enough. We should probably assume that runs do not use either type 1 or type 2 glitches by default, since most of them don't, and only add the "uses type n glitches" category when it is warranted.

I've changed the "uses easy difficulty" tag to read "uses easiest difficulty", to match "uses hardest difficulty". If there are any serious problems with this, please let me know.

I think 3-4-5 players should be combined with 2 players and name it "multiplayer". The tags 3-4-5 players combined only have 9 movies as opposed to the 2 players tag with 107 movies. And they don't differ by much. So combining them together won't change anything to the tags itself that mainly mean something like "Play a game with more than one controller".

Hey, so I looked at the publication page on some of my movies, and noticed that some of them were wrong/incomplete. For [4035] GBA Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge "100%" by g0goTBC in 58:51.19 I noticed that it's missing the "Takes damage to save time" and "Uses death to save time" categories. A few examples of that can be found at 8:12 and 25:59 in the published video. For [4101] GBA DK: King of Swing by g0goTBC in 17:34.47 the "Genre: Puzzle" tag was put, while I definitely think that it'd be more appropriate to have the "Genre: Platform" instead. The weird part: while both any% TASes got the Puzzle tag, the Diddy mode TAS got the Platform tag instead. I was wondering if someone could fix that, or tell me if my thoughts on those is wrong, and why it's the case. Thanks in advance.

The game is classified as a puzzle (then followed by either action or platformer). The Diddy publication is wrong and that has been adjusted. It is a weird statement to write when the DS sequel Jungle Climber is considered as an Action Platofrmer.

While playing casually, is it hard to figure out and decide how to get to the exit in King of Swing?

No, the exit is always on the right side of the screen, it's just a matter of getting there. I wouldn't necessarly call the movement to get to the exit a "puzzle", I prefer to think of it as some platforming with added obstacles that work really well with the mechanics that the game has to offer.

Sounds like it's all about execution, just with unconventional mechanics. Not a conventional platform either tho. No idea what to call it.

From what I understand, since anyone can freely release a game for DOS, Windows, Linux, C64, or other computer systems, these are considered open platforms, and runs of games on these systems should not get the "Unofficial game" tag. But shouldn't fangames that use IPs from, but aren't licensed by, say, Nintendo or Hasbro always have the "Unofficial game" tag? It looks like this was already done for these fangames for Aliens and Castlevania. And since these are open platforms, shouldn't ZXS Space Monsters have its tag removed? It's a homebrew created in 2019 with no unofficial licensed content.

Can we change the branch of this movie NES Snake Rattle N Roll (USA) in 05:08.43 by Devindotcom to "warps, 1 player", so it will separate from warpless run and and not be claimed "Obsoleted"
