About your run: You could backdash jump off the lower platform directly onto the drawbridge switch, if it's any faster, that is.
You mean in the second room? Im near sure i tested that, what i didnt tested tought was pirate idea: use partner jump before even the bridge completly open I need to check on it and if revelant put it in optimization in the submition And yeah i think dracula now is very optimized :p That extra jump from sword is ridiculously efficient against death Shame its impossible to get less than 3 wings attack from true dracula, but well, its already fast enought i think :p

Partner jumping the bridge never felt faster to me. You have to get the relic anyway and then move off the switch so it doesn't activate when you summon your partner, and jumping over the bridge (which is probably the glitchiest object ever) is slower than just backdashing across its lowered form. Have you tried waiting for True Drac to attack before that last wing crush? Even if his first attack wasn't lengthy enough to kill him, his second might've been, so it could still be worth waiting, considering the length of wing crush.

Im still in the process of redacting the submition text, this come at last so you cant see it already :p The answer is no, i tryed realy to fuck around with him, he can self cancel action and just do the wings Its barely noticable, but i actually do wait, this is after the first wing attack, pay attention and youll see i stop to hit him at some point, witch allow him to use the flametrower What trigger wing attack is simply his HP, 3333, 1666 then 888 and its unavoidable past 1000HP, he will use it regardless, so even if i can trigger flametrower, i wont be able to draw him 1666 within this attack Maybe i should have manipulated so his last attack was not flametrower, so it would have remove some lag, but well, no turning back now :p

I don't know if it's because of the improved Drac fight or the slightly revised route, but I just finished a NG SG HC run in 00:14:19. Probably not necessary when TASing, but if you're bored, give it a try. :P Get Change Cube Get Call Cube Save before Behemoth chase SG to Axe Armor/Skeletons corridor Activate Entrance warp Buy Tonic, Castle Map 1, Dart Get Lizard Tail SG from Wind's room to Raging Fire (Get Raging Fire) SG past the wall right of Raging Fire Walk right to Stone of Flight room and suspend Get Stone of Flight Suspend & reload Activate Great Stairway Warp SG to Throne Room Get Robe Decollete Get Speed Up Warp to Entrance Sell Robe Decollete Master Dart Warp to Stairway Enter Sandy Grave SG from laser corridor Kill Astarte - Dart backdash spam Warp to portrait Exit Sandy Grave Warp to Entrance SG from Wind's room to Lilith room Get cursed by Lilith's flying heart attack Return to Wind Quest glitch Blessed Rings, get Holy Claymore etc. (Get Summon Skeleton) Warp to Master's Keep Defeat Death - Holy Claymore Kill True Dracula - Holy Claymore, Summon Skeleton/Raging Fire on wings

Yeah i tested something similar, it went slightly slower, due mainly to more backtrack needed, alltought yeah i guess its more easier for you (speed up is not "that" fast within a tas, aiming for fastest time any%) Your time is pretty good for a human run, hum, over 2min is gigantic boost actually :p I was sure this was also the right way for unassisted (SG up to double jump room...), klmz contributed much to find this (i think he pointed me that first boss is skipable, and i went farther and skiped second boss as well) Do you realy need raging fire? seriously in the tas im playing this real time since it doesnt affect hip hp :p (ok, its not 60fps but still lol) If you keep on pressing fast attack/switch buttons (when death/drac are given you a breath) you should gain time over previous strategy i believe Remember that anyway the final sword will beat my run, its the "ultimate" route Edit: You forgot "Activate Great Stairway Warp (near sandy grave)" just after you get double jump

I actually didn't get Raging Fire, but it's a theoretical alternative to Summon Skeleton, although I haven't managed to fend off the wings with it consistently, and even though HC hits the wings thrice per swing, it's not enough. I'll see what I can do with switch canceling. I'm not sure about actually improving my time with Final Sword. The fight is going to take forever, I'll have to endure at least twice as many lengthy combo moves (HC doesn't even get to see the scythe explosion) and wing crushes, and unlike the TAS I can't go straight to Drac, anyway - I'm not skipping Lizard Tail and Stone of Flight.

No the final sword is the best route only for a TAS, for a human its impossible to get such a perfect fight to beat your 14min 26/28 dmg depending your level (in the tas i mean), witch mean around 358/385 hits The TAS with final sword will not "exterminate" my holy claymore run i think, i *only* strike 150 times, so its gonna be epic fight lol (more wings ect...) Now if you kill some boss and top up your level (unassisted i mean), you might come with an alternative, but imo its very unreliable, unlike holy claymore, considering the drop of course

Not realy tryed more since whe found out rng is a bitch in por This will require a great ammount of whilling and patience to make it "the fastest possible", i think The main trouble i have with this is the lag, so much trouble playing with the rng while in X months when the 3D engine get updated... the movie will not sync Feel somewhat like a waste to hurry up on this, i want at least the save rooms to get fixed before doing more, this is the major "breakpoint" possible in the run (1/2 frames are lag in save rooms) Then the final guard is fully 3D :p

Do you know of a way to SG into the small tunnel where Sanctuary is, or otherwise get it without Toad/Owl Morph? Basically, the only thing stopping you from going in there is your partner's refusal to spawn crouched. Might be worth messing around with for the warpless run.

< is a noob at PoR LoL, plz remember this :p I have serious trouble to answer this as i dont even remember wheres sanctury spell But what would be the use? using warps(sg) to cure sisters? its better to aim directly at dracula if you use warps, i guess

If you say so. :P http://db.gamefaqs.com/portable/ds/file/castlevania_por_grave.png It's where the frog is. Of course, an SG method would be useless for a warpless run, I'm just doing a VK route for fun. :) So far, it's basically identical to the HC route up to getting HC, lol. All for Magical Tickets. Afterwards, I get Cream Pie from City of Haze, SG into the dark portrait room from Keremet's save, and get Owl Morph from Dark Academy (whose portrait isn't locked for some reason). Then it's either Forgotten City to master Cream Pie off of Laura (probably worth getting Master Rings if you do this) and maybe get Griffon Wing for added mobility for Drac, or go straight for Sanctuary, Sisters and Whip's Memory. Anyway, the point is that there might be a TAS way to glitch yourself into the gap without morphing and SGing. Maybe try jump kicks or char-switch-skidding similar to how you can Speed Up-slide into the CoH entry gap without Lizard Tail - which may also be possible without Speed Up.

@Serris: So I guess You are not making a TAS movie, but using TAS method to do a human run with the emulator to get around certain obstacles. Am I correct? I remember messing around with the tunnel back in the days when Toad Morph was the only OoB way. No success. And when I found the horizontal SG OoB (I had found the vertical one earlier thanks to the hint from CotM), I made more tests and still failed. I was close, though - I was able to SG back just several blocks higher over the leftmost tunnel, and get ejected out. O_o

I'm not sure I understand what you mean, but I'm playing on my DS. I considered emulation to record stuff easier, but it seems DeSmuME doesn't suit my needs yet, so I'll wait for now. I'm just thinking of things for the SG-less TAS to try, but also want to at least figure out a way to glitch into the tunnel at all, SG or not. Yeah, it seems that since the Sanctuary tunnel doesn't extend all the way to the left screen edge, I also get pushed up to the western entrance even though I suspend on the Sanctuary screen.

What is missing for you? Maybe start movie with sram?

That, the lag, and some general control issues you probably only encounter in real-time play.

The lag might get fixed soon (i hope at least lol), as for the control i dont understand what you mean :p

I can't match my console times with a PS2-style pad and a mouse for the touchscreen. Nothing major, but because of the other stuff mentioned I have to wait anyway.

I'd like to know if they are working on the in-game lag problem. If it'll be in one month or two, I'll be waiting while doing tests. Otherwise, well, I don't know, as I'm semi-perfectionist. It would be great as well even if they only managed to optimize the extremely slow graphic engine. At least I might be able to see what the movie would look in real time.

Has anyone tested the Illusion Fist's limits under TAS conditions? Would be interesting to know. :)

The Final Sword is epic fail ! So theres a nice lua script made by gocha, working great, beat the Final Guard ~3:30, beat death in ~2:00 (28dmg per hit) then.... True Dracula got more defense... he take only 11dmg ... over 600hits needed, i tested a bit and its over 5min to beat him at this rate without even counting wings attack I was level6, i killed everything that was on my way, the nearest boss would be the magical pot near the suspend glitch, i have a huge feeling it will not do any good tought Ah, and also, droping the sword waste about 150 frames, so its realy fast to manipulate it and doesnt make loose much time on the run itself GAME OVER

I've found quite a few new things on the NG run w/o SG. Two more bosses can be skipped so far. I may come up with a very rough (unoptimized) test run soon. EDIT:

It causes longer "flinches" of your enemy than Kaiser Knuckles (or something like that) does... But weird enough, its normal usage deals "Critical Art" slash-type damage instead of plain hammar-type damage. Just test it on your Doppelganger. BTW, for laughs, just try out Rush with Illusion Fist equiped.
