The only thing I don't really understand is why he first has a sped up part on levels 13 and 15, before showing the actual TAS. Does it have something to do with showing how fast he is?

It's a setup for a glitch. It seems like if you activate a TNT and then reset the level right as it destroys a time box, that box will count immediately when you pick up the clock, even though the box is still there for later.
Even the best player is limited by the speed of his fingers, or his mind's ability to control them. But what happens when speed is not a factor, when theory becomes reality?

AKA restart's glitch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_49zv5aA2U Question: is there any way to download videos from nicovideo? I don't really like using Adobe's FLash Player.

I have created YouTube versions to watch there. So you could download it there...

Aah, now I understand. Please tell me that the eventual TAS will go for realtime instead of in-game time. It would possibly be faster to collect the golden/platinum relics right away instead of getting the running ability anyway. And I simply think going for in-game time is a lot "messier" overall.

The 105% tas will be going for realtime and not ingame time as showing off these types of tricks take time to set up. Just running and grabbing the clock is simple enough, than using the bazooka to shoot it.

The point being made is that from a clean start, you don't get the Fruit Bazooka until after World 4; you don't get the Crash Dash until after World 5. If it is possible for a TAS to achieve Platinum Relics on levels in the first playthrough, that would be preferable to delaying the time trials until after Cortex is defeated, even if the Platinum time achieved isn't "world record/best." :)

I know this has been talked about in this thread before, but I don't mind getting nothing but gold relics and a few platinums. Since getting platinum on everything doesn't make a difference at all, I guess it just looks nice. And since the TAS will be real-time anyway, you NEED to get golden relics, waiting until after Cortex would just take longer.

You can skip the first (all crystals) and second (100%) Cortex Fights.

Wrong, you can only skip the first cortex fight. If you guys are interested to see what a 105% TAS would looke like in the briefs, it would just take the route (or a variation of it) of the current WR run of 105%. There are a few imporevemnts that can still be made in that run, but it should giv you a rough idea of what the TAS will be like...just faster and better. And no, we do not get Running Shoes until the VERY END.Going through an additional cortex fight and credits is not worth it. Also we are bound to go for real-time in a TAS because we get relics in the same go as certain gems to save detour in the non-time trial run through the level. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VjBnMOdUGY

I am very impressed by the fact that the major glitch of this game wasn't mentioned here and wasn't used by PeterThePLayer in his WR!
Demo Funnies (by Keiji Dragon): Boot up the game and stay in the title screen. If you wait here, a gameplay demo will pop up sooner or later, as usual. Now, what you want is the demo from Bye Bye Blimps. Just before that demo pops up, keep holding Triangle. After that, you should be able to control Coco in the demo, and it will never end! Furthermore, a few unusual things happen if you finish the level: - You will be sent to the 4th Warp Room (N. Gin), but you will also be locked from the inside, and you can't get out, no matter what you do. - All levels from that Warp Room are playable. - Even if you get all the Crystals in the hub you're stuck in, the boss button doesn't appear. This happens because you only have 5 Crystals, so the game thinks you've just finished the first 5 levels, therefore locking all the level buttons except for Tiny Tiger's, who is the first boss in the game. - When entering/exiting a level, you don't get the funky screen distortion you usually would. Instead, the screen just rapidly fades into blank, like when a gameplay demo begins. - Crash has all of the super powers in his possession (even the Bazooka and the Crash Dash, which you only get after defeating N. Gin). - Crash has no Crystals or Gems, except for those you collect. - The time vortex cutscenes are those of Warp Room 1. - You can't turn the vibration on (the game still thinks a demo is ongoing). New Game With All Super Powers: Repeat the previous cheat's procedure. Once you're in control of Coco in Bye Bye Blimps, pause the game and exit the level. You will appear at the centre of the Time Twister, like in the beginning of the game. The only difference is that you'll have all Super Powers in your possession.

Yeah I always skipped the first fight and never checked the second (it was a hunch.)

But Platinum is more impressive, so in a submission, getting Platinum relics instead of gold ones would be a valid Speed/Entertainment trade-off.
Platinum would change the run to a "105% all Platinum Relics" which becomes a pain in the ass because you need to spend more time lining up a lot of stuff and being able to destroy all current records (Like I've done XD) Honestly Crash Warped should be this: - any% - 105% - 105% - Platinum and maybe a NG+ Edit: There is about (I may be wrong) 18-22 of the 30 levels that you can get Platinum as it's basically every platform level (and 2 bike stages). Also Orient Express and Midnight Run are more crazier when it's Gold Relic.
So we are now agreeing to a NG+ Category?

That is an incredibly unusual glitch... or maybe it's a hidden debug feature? If this trick would be allowed I think it can be a very interesting trick to use in a 105% run and would make the warp rooms a lot more streamlined even when going for all Platinum relics, which in my opinion should be done, and even more so, beating all the developer times (they were posted online at some point) as such a thing would be a very impressive feat by a TAS since as far as I know there are many levels where the developer times are still unreached in real-time attempts. (It should also obviously beat/match all the known times that are faster than developer times)

Awesome video, never seen that demo glitch/thing before. Is it possible on both PAL and NTSC?

Wasn't this glitch mentioned before? I know I've seen it earlier, I thought it was in this thread. Apparently it wasn't. Anyway, it sure is a cool glitch, I take it this would be usable?

I am perfectly aware of the glitch and whenever we speak about NG+, we mean the use of that glitch. I didn't use it in my run because it is a different category and also not worth it for a real time run in my opinion, seeing as there are only two tricks that will save additional time if you use the NG+ glitch, and one of them is incredibly inconsistent. You cannot clip through the gate in the 4th warp room back so you really ahve to exit out of the level. this would be an okay trick for a TAS, sure. Doesn't really qualify in a real-time run in my opinion.

That seems WAY too much like a hidden debug feature instead of a glitch. Irregardless, I wouldn't call that NG+ since it isn't something unlocked by beating the game (Hidden Mansion in Luigi's Mansion, keeping items from previous playthrough/unlocked weapons like Chicago Typewriter in Resident Evil 4, for instance)... Glitched run would sound a bit silly, since it just gets powerups early. Better name for the category, anyone? Also, say it really is a debug feature intentionally programmed in the game.. they've rejected those here (see Saturn's GT code run for Super Metroid).

With how you perform it it doesn't sound like a debug feature, it sounds more like 'To get this demo to run we need to give it some initial state, let's just turn on all the powerups' or whatever. Kind of like Back in Time in 3D zeldas.

It's not essentially NG+ you are right, but it gives you the reward for beating the game on a fresh and new file. I would say that is, although not intentionally, a NG+ feature. I would definitely want to avoid it colliding with a regular 105% speedrun. Regarding the relics, due to strats it may be difficult to keep up an all-Platinums-rule, especially hard to keep up a faster-than-developers-rule. One-cycles in levels are essential to save real time and they are the reason why the run looks impressive in the first place. Also, a "NG+" (as I will still call it for now) might do a TAS only time trial where you get the Gold relic in Bug Lite with the extra gem. I am not sure whether that's possible but I am quite confident it will work out with fram perfect zigzagging. In real-time it is far out of reach though. And then there are the obligatory skips for NG+ that you cannot do in a regular 105% (Purple gem skip in Tomb Time, Early yellow gem). I think a TAS should use this gltich or whatever the hell it is now.

Perhaps fastest time trails can be a separate category then, since I think it would be very entertaining to see such a thing. I do agree that going through a lot of the levels 3 times just for the platinum relic / beating the developers would be a little too extreme for a speed/entertainment tradeoff.

it wouldn't even be entertaining in the first place. It would be boring as fuck, like an any% run through the level just with running shoes. I agree that we try to beat like WRs during time trials where you don't need to get gems, that's about it though.
