Privileges
The following documents the specific site privileges that are allocated to the above staff members. A map of which privileges are extended to which roles is available on the
Users page.

Submissions
view_submissions
This is the ability to view submissions.
editing_submissions::all
This is the ability to edit the submission text and supporting information of all submissions; the primary use of this is in conjunction with judging submissions.
editing_submissions::judged
This is the ability to edit the submission text and supporting information of submissions that have undergone the judging process.
editing_submissions::self-submitted
This is the ability to update the submission information of your own submissions.
editing_submissions::appoint
This is the ability to edit per-submission editors list for submissions not your own.

This is the ability to edit ROM entries in
ROM editor.
edit_addresses
submitting_movies
This is the ability to add new movies to the submission queue. Users are encouraged to review the
Submission Instructions before doing so.
publishing_movies
Publishing a movie is the act of assigning an accepted submission a video file torrent, mirror/streaming links and a movie description for the first time, causing it to appear on the front page. It also allows a user to change the status of a movie from 'decision: accepted' to 'publication underway'.
judging_movies
Movie judging is the ability to change the status of a movie that has not yet been published (excluding 'publication underway' and 'published'). This is explicitly disallowed for the submitter.
unreject_movies
Subset of judging_movies, allowing setting any rejected submission back to new.
replacing_submissions::all
Certain privileged members can replace the input files associated with a movie. This is done, for example, when a minor improvement is found shortly after submission.
replacing_submissions::published
Same as the above but only for submissions already published.
delete_submissions
In order to prevent abuse of the submission queue, this allows users to remove submissions altogether from the site.
see_submitters_ipaddr
For the purposes of monitoring the queue for potential abuse, certain privileged staff members can see the IP address from where a submission originated. This information is kept confidential.
change_systemid
Some emulators support multiple platforms, not all of which are stored in the input files. For these cases, this ability allows one to change the system with which a submission is associated.
Wiki
editing_pages::all
This is the ability to edit most pages on the wiki (including
Game Resources pages). It excludes system pages and pages that have been deleted.
editing_pages::homepage
If a user has been assigned a
home page, most users have the ability to edit their own page.
editing_pages::gameresources
Ability to edit just
Game Resources pages. Editing_pages::all encompasses this.
editing_deletedpages::all
This is the ability to edit pages that have been deleted.
editing_deletedpages::homepage
If one's homepage is in DeletedPages for some reason, this gives one the ability to edit it.
editing_page_history
With this ability, revisions of a page history may be removed.

move_pages
This is the ability to move pages on the wiki.
delete_pages
This is the ability to non-permanently delete pages by moving them to DeletedPages.
move_systempages
This is the ability to move/delete system pages.
Movies
These permissions relate to the ability to edit information related to movies, which are tracked in the
Movie Maintenance Log.
editing_moviehdrs
Movie headers include the game, ROM, and player information.
editing_movietext
Movie text is the description of the movie.
editing_moviecats
editing_moviefiles
Movie files include the video file torrent, any mirror/streaming links, and the screenshot.
set_tier
Ability to set non-privileged movie tiers and to change between such tiers.
edit_recommendation
Assigning
special stars can be done with this permission, though the responsibility for that currently falls to
Baxter.
Also, ability to set movie to stars (highest) tier.
view_everyones_ratings
Users have the ability to hide their
movie ratings via a setting in the forum; this permission causes that setting to be ignored.
can_set_obsoletion
While publishing a movie can obsolete another by means of the publication forum, some circumstances necessiate, for example, multiple obsoletions; this permission allows one to set which movies obsolete others arbitrarily for such uses.
exceed_ratio
This ability allows a torrent for a video file exceeding the site's maximum allowed ratio (currently 10 MB : 1 min) to be assigned to a movie (either by publication or by movie editing).
override_screenshot
Screenshots normally must be smaller than 45000 bytes and match the normal resolution(s) for a system; with this permission those checks are ignored.
edit_players
The
players list keeps track of author information for movies; this permission allows for updating of that list (usually used in conjunction with publication).
tvc_upload
The ability to upload to TASVideosChannel via the site.
edit_privileges
Admin only. The ability to change which privileges each role has access to.

Users
Changes made with these privileges are tracked in the
User Maintenance Log.
assigning_userpages
This is the ability to grant
User Pages to other users.
assigning_roles::all
Allows the user to assign any role to anyone.
assigning_roles::editor
Allows the user to appoint new editors.
assigning_roles::staff
Allows the user to appoint new staff members; this is limited to privileges the user currently has.
assigning_roles::nobody
Allows the user to assign the 'nobody' role, i.e. to strip them of submission privileges.
assigning_ranks
This is the ability to set
Forum Ranks. Non-admins can only set a limited number of ranks; this is intended for the ability to set Player ranks for new authors
Site code
sitecode::admin
These users have access to all of the site's source code.
sitecode::developer
These users have access to most of the site's source code.
sitecode::intern
These users have basic access to some aspects of the site's source code.
Other
These privileges are essentially cosmetic, and display what aspects of the site a given role has the responsibility for.
os_maintenance
This is the responsibility for maintaining the base software running on the server, not including the site itself.
database_maintenance
Users with this responsibility have access to the database,
hardware_maintenance
Users with this responsibility have direct access to the server hardware.
network_maintenance
Users with this privilege are responsible for the maintenance of the server's network connectivity.
resources_maintenance
This privilege denotes that the role has the responsibility of monitoring the site's use of the server's resources, such as disk space, memory usage, etc.
