So I tested out the run in Dolphin 4.0.2 x64 with the ROM that matched the MD5 and SHA-1 feos posted (which also passed the checksum check in Dolphin). It desyncs somewhere because the first battle is always with Cassandra instead of Talim (she blocks his attack and he promptly gets beaten up). I tried without memory card 3 times and with memory card once, same result.

It doesn't make a difference. My computer doesn't support OpenGL 2.0, yet I was able to start the game with DX11 just like you were when you made your encode.

Doesn't sync either. Maybe try syncing yourself on http://dl-mirror.dolphin-emu.org/4.0.2/dolphin-x64-4.0.2.exe in a clean directory with default settings (c.f https://dolphin-emu.org/docs/guides/controlling-global-user-directory/, i.e. before starting Dolphin, create a file "portable.txt" in the same directory as the .exe) (playing back the movie file should set everything as needed) with the ISOs you have and the movie file you uploaded to this site (http://tasvideos.org/submissions/4179.zip). Post results with checksum of the ISO you tested with.

Whoops didn't see that video. It seems you used the free dsp_rom.bin and dsp_coef.bin that come with Dolphin. With those I got it to sync, whew. For reference: Get them here (might not be the most recent versions!): https://github.com/dolphin-emu/dolphin/blob/9a404ca6d4020fa77c61d4cd210b924b06deaf94/Data/Sys/GC/dsp_rom.bin https://github.com/dolphin-emu/dolphin/blob/9a404ca6d4020fa77c61d4cd210b924b06deaf94/Data/Sys/GC/dsp_coef.bin

The DSP files come with every recent release of Dolphin, thus you already have them. As for, whether to use these or the dumped files from original console: Depends on the sound quality achieved with either of them (choose what gives better sound).

Yes and NO. This was used as most optimal character, it's like saying that Tekken 2 TAS with Law and King should be accepted even though Yoshimitsu is fastest. Mortal Kombat uses Liu Kang because of the move you can abuse and (lack of knowledge in MK).

hey, I liked this although, I’m unsure about the optimization… in the first place, isn’t Knightmare kinda slow? couldn’t you have used a faster character? in Soulcalibur III, for straight-ahead ring outs, Voldo is the best character… either way, I was entertained; I knew the moves being used (mained Knightmare on SCIII) and it was pretty varied for a fighting game going for time, and the stepping over Inferno was hilarious

only Nightmare can make thrown in the direction side up or side down with fastest time by his horizontal cut (appropriate for any map, any startup location). Voldo can't do faster

I’m aware that Nightmare is the easiest character to get ring outs with, but I think a faster character with better manipulation could be faster… not like it matters as long as it’s just my opinion, though

I think it would be more enjoyable to watch if ring outs weren't allowed.

I don’t think so… it would be the same combo over and over the game has one single random element at stage start, the position of the characters compared to the ring out, and you want to take that away?

All characters can make ring out not too hard. The problem at how long other charater can make enemies stand near edge. The core for I choice Nightmare at this move: http://i.imgur.com/EkqGqzc.jpg .Maybe in sometimes it's not fastest move (depend startup localtion, depend map), but it's fastest on overall map/locations
