"While the Apprentice Sorcerer slept his master's music was stolen away.
Now his dreams must restore the notes so the music again can play."
Movie features:
  • Emulator used: Gens 11a
  • Plays of hardest difficulty
  • Takes damage to save time
  • Genre: Platform
Basically you have to collect certain amount of points before reaching the end of the stage where points transform into notes.
On hard difficulty it goes like this:
............................notes needed.....points collected
1 level - water world -- 8 - 168.900
2 level - earth world - 10
- 202.200
3 level - air world -_- 12 - 236.700
4 level - fire world -- 14
- 318.000
Every 20,000 points are worth a note. So collecting more notes that is necessary to pass a level would just be a waste of time.
Somehow on 3rd level I managed to get enough notes for less points than needed. Maybe my theory isn't quite accurate?
Items & points:
note 60.000 (heals 3 hp)
flying book 1800
blue orb 4500 (heals 1 hp)
star 4500 (heals 1 hp)
Point multiplication is the trick that allows us to beat the game in well under 10 minutes.
Most helpful it is in the first level as it saves 21 seconds. It saves a few seconds in third level because it allows the use of a different route.
When you bounce from an enemy to item you can get 2-6 times the points and if the item is moving (star) even 7 times (31.500) the normal points.
The healing effect of items are also multiplied.
0:20 - flying spellbook (5x1800) 9.000
0:34 - star (7x 4.500) 31.500
2:18 - blue orb (5x 4.500) 22.5000
2:19 - star (6x 4.500) 27.000
5:25 - Flying spellbook (5x1800) 9.000
The run was made in 2010 but for some reason I didn't want to submit this then.

feos: Judging...
feos: Replaced the movie file.
feos: This game's music and jumping mechanics brought me closer to schizophrenia, but it looks solid for this hell of an engine. Accepting to the "oh God please no" tier Vault.
Fog: Processing.

Not sure what the current version of gens is, but with Gens11SVN304 (crc32 09BB7F5A) the REV00 ROM desyncs before gameplay starts, and the REV01 ROM desyncs after the first scene transition.

I dunno, Boct. I just used the newest Gens I have on hand (11b, I'm a little behind the times) and it synced up fine. (None of the versions of the ROM I have in my Good set are titled "Mickey Mouse - Fantasia", though.) As for the run itself ... it mostly served to remind me of the feeling of sadness and disappointment that accompanied actually playing the game back when it was new. Though I must give props to those long bounce chains, because the one thing I do remember about this game was how super-awkward it was to just move around.

Sorry about this, but I found the improved file on my HDD. 34 frames at the "end battle". Didn't know if I can replace the file in submission.
Projects: Warlock, Ren & Stimpy (impr) / Generations Lost (impr.)
