It’s finally here people, the third and possibly final version of the Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee 100% TAS created by me, Samtastic and Dooty! This run is 02:08.85 than the current published run due to new tricks and starts! This is also based on a failed TAS that Dooty almost finished last year, but he got stuck at the Boardroom due to a missing ring. Last week, I figured out a way to get the missing ring to show up. Instead of loading and saving, I just simply reset the screen. This resulted in the memory corruption fixing the memory and the missing ring that was missing in Zulag 1 finally appeared! So I took Dooty’s failed movie and matched it as accurately as I could. I was originally trying to match this run on PSXHawk but it was very difficult manipulating some Slogs. Once I figured out the quickest way to fix the ring, it was easier for me to just simply go back to the failed 100% run and fix it. If anyone can get this movie synced on PSXHawk with a conversion, then feel free to replace this movie with a bk2. Every rescue has been improved over the published run, thanks to some new tricks and glitches which include the multiple backwards jump and the quick bird portal closure glitch. Also, Dooty has found most of the new ways that the Death Delay Glitch (DDG) can be used to save time.

Thanks

I would like to thank everyone who has helped us finding new tricks and glitches to make our TASes improvable! Without Shunpuk and Yaritania, the improvements would never been done. I hope you’ll all look forward to a TAS of Abe’s Exoddus Maximum Casualties, which I will hopefully get done next year.

The timing appears to be wrong on the title. It should read 1:01:18.35

I see. So that's why PSXhawk's timing is different to PCSX timing then.

I won't be publishing this one as a protest against dropping the use of PSXHawk by someone we know very well.
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

The PXM to BK2 converter does not work on the current version of Bizhawk. PSXHawk comes up with an error when I try to load the movie.

The input looks terribly wrong in the conversion compared the one you converted before.

Hmm, interesting. ArgumentOutOfRangeException... I wonder where that's thrown. I suspect this is a mismatch between my code and the new controller code for PSXHawk. I'll try to have a look when I get time, but currently so busy with uni

Is there a way you could create a resync workflow between Bizhawk and PCSX? Every time a desync ocours in bizhawk, PCSX sends the right snapshot over to PSXHawk.

Dooty has been absent from TASVideos for a few months now and it's going to be hard for me to manipulate everything on PSXHawk if Dooty is not here.

You have no idea how much time I've spent on pcsx, and I got this bastard working as I wanted, developing my methods on a real task. I was motivated because there was no choice, and because it helped to reduce time spent on bullshit during encoding. Now you take this for granted and want me to sacrifice my time once again resyncing it when you might have sacrificed your time working with a better-in-everything emulator, when the choice is already there, and is obvious. I have all rights to disagree and boycott :3

I also wonder who is meant by "you".

Theoretically possible, but no way I'm doing this. It's a lot of work for something not very useful. And with emulation bugs, etc, there's no guarantee that an effect observed in PCSX will happen in PSXHawk, so it may not always be possible to resync a movie, particularly if it uses something that the original console and BizHawk don't do.

It is a game bug. I will submit a run done on PSXhawk as good as this one when it's all done.
