This is my second attempt at the Sonic 2 speed-test, finished around 33 minutes.
  • Takes Hits to Save Time
  • Aims for Fastest Completion
I used the special Gens on the forums, as with last time, to record this version as well. The making of the movie was alot more difficult, because I tried to be as particular to detail as possible (made mostly possible by the slow-motion addition). I understand already that I can do better, but this is a HUGE improvement over my first attempt, by the better part of eleven minutes or so. Thanks to 'Bag of Magic Food' and /*- on the forums for their words of wisdom!
(Edit) Also, according to _Q, I beat the record for Metropolis Zone 3 by 6 seconds. Yay!

Only in Chemical Plant 1 right now, but... 1) Roll more often. 2) Never stop for an invincibility box unless it a) is in your way and b) getting it would increase your speed in getting to the end. I can't quite understand why you nabbed the invinc box in Chem Plant 1. 3) You had the right path in EH1, but I -know- Sonic can do the same general thing Knux can - roll before you launch after the speed shoes (you can improve the jump to the ledge and over the spikes so you come down quicker, btw) and then pick enemies to bounce off of. It's really fun to watch if you do it right. 4) You can do EH Eggman a bit faster. 2 passes instead of 3. Better than last time, though. I've only ever gotten a 22s for EH1 using Knuckles. Almost a 21, but the clock ticked another second on RIGHT as I hit the goal marker. The record for the stage is 20, though. You need a nigh-flawless go for that, but it's impressive as all hell to watch.

Yeah. I hadn't meant to do that in Chemical Plant. I accidentally saved the state, and I didn't feel like starting allllll the way back at Emerald Hill. It's something i'll solve next time I make the run. :) And, I had seen that done from that one website I was given.. but i'll work on that in a later edition. For now, it's not a huge priority.

Some general comments: Roll more, and charge up the spindash better (top speed is in, what, six revs?) by doing it at 6% speed or with frame advance. Don't bounce around quite so much; the fastest way isn't always running at top speed all the time. For example, slow down before hitting the monkey in EH2 so you don't bounce on top of him. Don't hit corners or you'll lose your speed. More level-specific comments: 1) I think it's possible to pass between the green-yellow-red bumpers in Casino Night Zone without having to hit them. 2) You missed a HUGE shortcut in Sky Fortress Zone. Instead of going back and up to the top of the ship after passing under, just take a hit and pass through the blades on the right. It's an easy thirty seconds. 3) Final boss can be done much, much faster. Don't spin away from him and try to attack pretty much constantly.

Nice. Only the fact that it's Sonic 2, one of my alltime favourite games, makes this very enjoyable for me. But I fear it's not good enough to get published, it's very entertaining but far from perfect. And please don't stop making timeattacks because one or another movie from you doesn't get published or people say bad things because your movies aren't that perfect. Even if this one isn't perfect it still made an entertaining 1/2 hour for me, thank you.
