Chakan the forever man any%

Game objectives

  • Takes damage to save time
  • Heavy glitch abuse
  • Uses death to save time
  • Genre: Action, Platform
  • Uses warp
Reminder of a useful technique for this update
-MAX DAMAGE:
It is possible to grant the DPS of a more powerful weapon to the big swords with this sequence of inputs when the sword or the grapnel cane is in hand:
RC/_/_/_/RA/RC/RBC ("_" is a blank input)
In short, I noticed that if I do a jump with the sword or the grapnel cane, then the player will be able to double jump even when changing weapons.
So, the only important thing is to jump with the sword or the grapnel cane because the game will automatically give a double jump. Then, I just need to change weapon and do a rolling attack to obtain this result.
BOSS ADDRESS (only for this video):
MOSQUITO ALIEN..........3F82
LAVA BOSS.......................4844
WORMS BOSS.................515E
SNOW BOSS....................5766
FINAL BOSS PHASE 1...25A0
FINAL BOSS PHASE 2...24A0
I redid this TAS after finding stuff in 100% so this is an update.
Here are level by level details:
LAVA LEVEL 1.1:
16 frames were saved with the help of two more precise jumps to reach the last platform before the end of the level.
EARTH LEVEL 2.3:
774 frames were saved on MOSQUITO ALIEN that must normally be beaten by going on the back of one of his mosquitos. I found a more complicated method that consist of attacking him on land, manipulating his behavior by doing rolls so he backs up then coming back so he comes back and I take advantage of the short time it takes him to back up again to attack him. I also had to kill the other mosquito enemies that keep coming to prevent the game from lagging to the point of being unstable!
LAVA LEVEL 2.1:
33 frames were saved with a well-timed spinning jump at the end of the level to reach a platform that was further on the lava, removing the need to do 2 jumps and one extra rolling length.
LAVA LEVEL 2.3:
155 frames were saved with optimization on the BOSS with better attacks, a spinning jump with MAX DAMAGE and conclude with the usual stuff.
WORMS LEVEL 2.2:
36 frames were saved by more precise jumps and rolls allowing me to only have one cycle with BOSS WORMS to reach the end of the level faster.
SNOW LEVEL 2.3:
40 frames were saved on the BOSS by avoiding lag caused by shots of my swords with the ice power or the fire power.
All of these improvements gave me a total of 1054 frames saved.

Great job! The Earth boss is a major improvement. The snow boss is still really slow, but you do a good job playing around while waiting for it.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. I believe there is a way to kill the earth elemental boss even faster than using blue flame swords, if you manage to get 3 green and 3 red potions, you can kill him without waiting the routine, just three plain explosions.

Jungon: is there any convenient way in the warped run to get that many potions? That snow boss is super slow where the detour for potions might be worth the time, but I'm not sure. You may want to ask this as well in the discussion for the recently published 100% run. That run may be more likely to get extra potions.
