Submission Text Full Submission Page
Castlevania (Akumajo Dracula), everybody Knows Caslevania. This serie is one of the most famous jewels of Konami. This Sega version is the 3rd best of the Old School Type (in my opinion).

Game objectives

  • gens_movie_9j
  • Beat the game fast as I can
  • After the 1st stage, No Damage taked (In the 1st stage I took a pair of hits in order to save time)

Comments

Well, Eric Lacarde is the Guy with the spear, and has a move that morris not, the High Jump with Spear... With the invulnerability and H.J. I save A LOT OF TIME! This TAS is not a really NO DAMAGE one ´cause in the 1st stage I took a hits to save time, and I don´t intrested in took the Holy Spear, in the Stage 2 I took the spear and avoid unesecary fight, the Holy spear make a little more damage to some enemies, no more damage.
In two stages, I use a "glitch", in the stage of the pilars, in one part, a White Dragon (Bone Dragon) is forward on a destrucible pilar (that you need broke it to advance) i use a sub weapon in the frame that Eric will fall between the Plataform of the dragon and the one you jumped, that makes an extra frame of floor. The same in the stage of gears, the part of pistons, I Throw an Axe to an extra frame of jump to reach the top of the piston and don´t wait to the mechanism pass back and forward..

Other comments

  • Medusa is to close and to far away... the bosses run away from Lacarde. He needs to pass through Castlevania to back a DVD he rented the last Saturday, and KILL ALL DEMONS OR WHAT THE GOD CROSS HIS PATH (yes, its absurd in 1817)!!
  • I guess ONE LITLLE thing, I use the H.J in the part of the Candles fall out to entratinment, 3 of them, the rest I only jump over. Uuuuh, and like the other 3 TAS, I End the movie in the last frame of credits.
Enjoy it, its good at all.

adelikat: Rejecting. This fails to beat the current record.

it's slower than the current record by quite a margin.

Might be because he ends his movies after the credits, according to his submission texts. I can't get this movie to sync up on any version of Gens. I've even tried using different versions of the game as well as converting it (Who knows if that could even help/hurt). I've tried messing with settings, deleting config files but still nothing. But reading in your submission text, it sounds like you found another place to zip.

It looks like he used the tags for code, which appears to be stretching the tables, and making room for the other paragraphs to also extend beyond the normal boundaries. Also, is there some way to append the movie file with a couple seconds of blank time? I tried "resume movie from save state" after giving the thing a little while to freshen up, but it advanced the movie playback that many frames too. Not exactly what I'd hoped for. edit: Having examined the input string, it looks like it's not a matter of your choosing a character being mistimed--you never actually chose a character in the input process at all. Kind of an odd choice, but at least it's not a desync issue. I don't know enough about this Input Splice function to correct this rather important omission, and getting directly into the file via a text editor has proven...prohibitive. So what I'm saying is I vote No.

He had a new line in the middle of a sentence, with a leading space creating the formatting snafu. It's fixed now.

Even if he ends after the credits, it's STILL longer. Credits run about 3.5 minutes. This movie is 8 minutes longer then the published submission. You do the math. And I've tried Gens 10a, 9Z,, and I can't find a copy of gens_movie_9j anywhere (google search only turns up 5 results!). But even if I could play it, I think this is a very easy no vote looking at the time. (Hell, unless it ends after the credits, it's slower then the UNASSISTED speed run!)
