The submission message follows:
This was the first Kirby game ever released and is a great little game that can prove to be quite challenging in extra game mode.

Recorded with VisualBoy Advance (rerecording version 9) which can be found here: http://bisqwit.iki.fi/nesvideos/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2050

Takes damage to save time. Uses 'Extra Game' password (up+select+A) at title screen because the bosses move a lot faster.

Every boss (except maybe the tree at the beginning, if compared to the rematch at Mt.Dedede) was beaten at the minimum number of rounds. I spent most of the time manipulating bosses, not to say that was the only vexation in the whole run. Dodging enemies when there are 6+ sprites on the screen was sluggish and took a lot of rerecords as well. I was pleased with the outcome, however, and I hope everyone could take 10 minutes out of their time to enjoy this video.

Hmm... this is a nice run, but, I know it can be improved. If you jump onto an enemy to purposely take damage, it pushes you very quickly to the side, and as an added bonus it also kills the enemy and lets you walk through and kill other enemies (reducing lag), so all of the damage you take should go toward this, especially in areas that aren't over land or have lots of enemies. Also, I think your boss fights can be a lot faster by manipulating them more - their randomness is determined almost entirely by how many times you've pressed the B button to suck in air, so for instance you can inhale some air for no apparent reason during the battle with the tree boss to make it skip its gust-blowing attack and go straight to dropping enemies at you (EDIT: looks like you actually do this starting with the second tree battle, but it should also be done earlier.) And I think this game has some concept of acceleration, so jumping before edges when you need to go down should save a few frames.

(oh, one more thing: When you get the first fire powerup, why did you not roast all the enemies in front of you and instead let them slow the game down?)

Hey, did anybody else notice that the sound for this game is a little scratchy in this emulator? It's not as bad as Adventures of Lolo, but it's still there.

The first tree battle was manipulated; I just didn't need to suck air to get two apples to fall every round. I wasn't able to prevent the gust-blowing attack at the beginning, but I don't think I tried sucking air right at the beginning. I was barely able to beat the Lololo's in only three rounds. I couldn't get the cloud boss to drop bombs consecutively three times, as I think that may be impossible. Both the first and the second cloud boss fights turned out exactly the same.
Also the boost from enemies doesn't actually speed you up, although it may look like it. When you get hit, you pause briefly and you eventually end up at the same place you would have if you had avoided it.
BTW this is noteworthy, but spitting out enemies slows you down a little whereas swallowing them loses you no time at all. I don't know if shooting fireballs slows you down any.

Thanks for the critique!

You're right about the enemies, actually it seems to waste a frame or two to get hit despite looking a lot faster. The tree boss can be manipulated at the very beginning by sucking air before its first attack (may be necessary to do it more than once). The cloud bosses have a non-random attack pattern, but I think the wait time before they go onto the next phase is somewhat random (may also apply to other bosses, not sure about in extra game mode, though). I'm pretty sure that shooting fireballs doesn't slow you down unless there were just enough enemies that it adds to the lag and it doesn't hit and kill an enemy. I was impressed by the Lololo battles. (And I didn't know it was possible to skip getting the Kirby's in the 4 pre-boss-rematch areas.)

I too kinda noticed a few things that I thought could be better. I agree with the allowing your damage to move forward faster. I'm not sure, but perhaps manipulating luck a bit more to get more items to hit bosses with? (I don't know how possible it is to avoid the urchans(sp?) ). Also with King Dedede, in most kirby games you're allowed to suck up both of his stars to get a more powerful hit on him, perhaps try that with Dedede in this game (if possible?)

No, you can't get double star power in this game.

It seems to go very slowly. Can't Kirby run in this game?
How about sliding? In NES Kirby, when falling off ledges, sliding can be used to greatly speed up the falling / flying.

How about predictive jumps? You could have done one at 1:06 (before the tree boss), probably manywhere else.

At 00:48 there's some very heavy lag. It seems you can't avoid it though.

I'd like to see a more improved version of this movie.
Even if my points are invalid, the movie looks too normal to me. Voting no.

Just to point out, Bisqwit, in this first game, Kirby can't even run or slide, so that's why it was that slow. I say the run was pretty good and the damage-inducement was well-planned. Not missing any attacks (especially against the 3rd boss) is pretty good as well. Maybe you could've walked a bit more forward on stage 4, when the falling stars came down while you shot down the long row of blocks in front of Kirby. Other than that, it looked well-done and there are only minimal improvements that needs to be done for next time. Voting Yes on this one.

I just watched this movie, IIRC there was a shortcut in level 4 that you didn't use. Also the fight against Kablooey in level 5 looked suboptimal for the situation.
