Here's my complete run through Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt on the SNES. I used snes9xw-improvement7 to make this run, with all the boxes unchecked ([]Use WIP1 timing, []Allow Left+Right/Up+Down []Volume evsomething []Fake mute desync blah, []Sync samples etc).
Pugsley must travel through 6 levels and collect some ingredients for something. Whatever it is, it must be important. (more about the game at the bottom)
I chose the highest possible difficulty, which means you only get one heart. If you get hit once, you're dead. This eliminates some damage shortcuts, but it changes the ending text by a few words. If I had done this playing normally, I would have been pissed off.
I took the shortcut in the bathroom level. I'm not sure if it counts as a warp, but it does enable me to skip about a third of the level.
I was able to use the game's weird cannon collision detection to my advantage in the basement level. I go inside a cannon to make the pointy-sliding-eye thing move downwards, saving a second or two.
This movie took a very long time to make, mainly because I took very long breaks in between. You might notice that there's a lot of wobbling in the first few levels, but then it stops. This is because I did those parts much later and at that time, I didn't think wobbling was cool anymore.
  • No warps or passwords
  • Abuses some collision detection
  • No hits = no deaths
  • As fast as possible
  • Hardest possible difficulty
Hmm, that's all I can think of for now.
Suggested movie description: A very evil platform game with some nice graphics and decent (but quickly repetitive) music. It's evil for two reasons. The levels are extremely difficult, and Pugsley is very fast and his shoes appear to be covered with grease. When playing normally, you would almost never press the dash button, because if you do, you go even faster! In this run, the dash button is held down almost the entire time.

Yeah, swimming is painfully slow. I made the mistake of not optimizing it as much as I should have, though. It could probably be done a little faster. The swimming part is sooooo boring...

A glitch I discovered as a child was using my turbo controller to L/R force your self at walls while jumping at them, and you can stand against the wall and keep jumping upwards.

Wow, that was great. I never even played the game before looking at your WIPs and it was fun to watch. The only disappointment was how anticlimatic the boss battle was, but that isn't your fault. Sorry about not commenting on your WIP, but I wouldn't have been able to contribute.

Why you! Now I have to redo the whole movie! Thanks for pointing it out, though. I'll just leave the submission open because it's going to take a VERY long time. I hate this game so much at the moment. I'm probably not even going to start for a few weeks. Stupid stupid game! Why can't you behave? I wonder if there are other bugs I don't know about.
