Mystic Defender is the USA version of the Japanese game 孔雀王2 (Kujaku-Oh Ni, which means "The Peacock King 2"). Except for changing the clothing of the hero and deleting the intro and the names of the stages, everything seems to be the same.
Because Peacock the hero is not a very smart hero, he cannot walk and use his arms at the same time (a common video game character disability). Thus he must jump to be able to use his arms. If he is charging a bigger shot when he lands, he forgets to walk for a few frames, so you cannot charge up a shot too early. It's all very delicate.
This is a 35 second improvement over the previous movie by highness. Much of the improvement comes from an interesting glitch in the last level.
Warning: This movie has been rated PG-13 by the TVRA for Tool-Assisted Violence, Brief Nudity, and Inappropriate Glitch Abuse. Viewer discretion advised.

Before Sonic the Hedgehog, there was Alex Kidd.
This movie improves on the previous movie by a whopping 79 seconds thanks to a new trick allowing Alex to ascend through walls Rockman style.

A very important part of Nintendo's history is being presented here in the manner of our website — as a tool-assisted speedrun.
Donkey Kong Jr. (read Wikipedia article), among with Donkey Kong, were classic games that were played by millions of players on different consoles, including NES, Atari 2600 and Game and Watch.
Although one would not expect a movie of Donkey Kong Jr. to be interesting to watch, except in the retro sense, this movie is actually quite surprising. The vines are cleverly utilized to move the hero forward faster than any member of the Kong family before or after this game.
This is a 6 frame optimization of level 4 compared to the previous movie by the same authors. The rest of the levels are copied without changes.

The Immortal is a dungeon game with spells, goblins, and of course, countless traps of instant death. The story is quite humorous at times.
In this movie, the protagonist wizard uses various unorthodox methods for completing the game as fast as possible. He dies four times in the process, but that does not slow him down at all. In fact, dying is one of the tricks that makes this movie 1.5 minutes faster than its predecessor.

This colorful game is based on the manga of the same name and features what appears to be a magical baby navigating through some unusual and fairly friendly looking enemies. Everything, particularly inanimate objects, has a face. The levels vary from suburbia to castles to clouds, and end with particularly unique bosses.
The main character's ability to glide sets this apart from many other platformers. The author uses this power frequently to both gain speed and to simply hover above helpless enemies.

At TASVideos, even 10 second long movies are improved, and game characters become so powerful they don't even have to move in order to complete the game.
This improvement is a result of the previous movie's author joining forces with the author of a VBA bot used in a glitched-out Pokémon TAS. Together they've managed to shorten the solution by 14 frames with the help of a similarly-designed bot for Gens.
Note that, while input length is 10 seconds long, less than 0.3 seconds of it is actual gameplay!

This game, a version of the classic PC game, is a puzzle/platform game done as fast as possible, with some quick fighting thrown in.
This version improves the previous Prince of Persia run by 42 seconds. During the run, the author manages to pull off daring leaps of faith, enemy dodging and even manages to pass through a solid metal gate.

A Boy and His Blob: The Rescue of Princess Blobette is a sequel to the NES game with equally silly title. This time, the boy and his obedient friend save a princess, who is caged in a castle tower. The rescue operation is supposedly executed as efficiently as possible, even though it means that the boy needs to sacrifice one of his lives just to save some time.

Rolan's Curse is like a simplified version of the NES Legend of Zelda with slower gameplay and more restricted game world, resulting in a primitive hack-and-slash experience. Nevertheless, there exists an interesting storyline: The kingdom of Rolan has been invaded by the forces of some evil being called Barius. However, in this movie, the final boss is never actually seen. Instead of meeting Barius face to face, the hero (who seems to have a face on the back of his head) defeats him by abusing a strange programming error.
