This game, a version of the classic PC game, is a puzzle/platform game done as fast as possible, with some quick fighting thrown in.

Flashback is a sci-fi platformer in the style of Prince of Persia. There is a lot of jumping, rolling and climbing to move around the levels.
This movie uses a lot of bugs to get through the game faster. The most prominent one is walking through walls, which renders keys obsolete. Also, if you finish a level without having an important item, the game assumes you have it anyway.
We recommend reading the author's comments of this run.

This video performs some truly ridiculous button-mashing combos, which the designers most likely didn't intend.
Selected quotes from the author:
  • Doesn't take all powerups because they make you knock down enemies. It's desired that they stand up as much as possible.
  • Manages to get one of the chainmen to kill the other one, so there is less bonus afterwards (faster).»»

Dark Castle looks like a Genesis version of Donkey Kong. This new movie is three seconds faster than the previous version by Aqfaq.
Selected comments from Aqfaq:
I managed to skip most of the game, which is good because Dark Castle sucks.

Gods is a game about someone who wants to become a god and gain immortality. This is a delicate and paradoxical issue, because temporal immortality can be bought at just about every shop in this game, but the hero still dies 9 (nine) times.
Another fun aspect is bomb-jumping, which allows both higher jumps and traveling vertically through walls. Almost the whole 2nd half of the game is skipped with this trick!
This is the author's latest version, improved by a mere 2.5 seconds.

The Genesis remake of Marble Madness is not directly comparable to the original. In addition to having much worse audio quality, the rules on where (and what) the marble can go (and do) are relaxed, allowing for many shortcuts not possible on the NES.
This improvement by SprintGod is 10 seconds faster than adelikat's previous version.

Contra: Hard Corps (1994) was the first game in the series to be exclusively released on a non-Nintendo console. The game took a lot of elements from previous installments and spiced them up with even more dynamic combat, different playable characters, nonlinear plot and about twice the amount of boss fights.
In this movie the author takes the secret "fifth ending", thereby skipping most of the game. If you want to see runs which play more of the game, then you should see this run (with the quickest "normal" ending) or this run (with the "best" ending).
The Japanese version was chosen because, for some reason, it gives the players a health bar, allowing them to take some damage without dying.
This is a 2.19 second improvement over the previous movie.
